Trent Country Park, Cockfosters, London
We spent a day wandering around Trent Country Park in Cockfosters, North London in October 2014. Here are a few pictures.
The park is quite large and it is easy to spend a few hours walking around. It is free to use, of course - it consists of grassy areas, dense woodland, and footpaths, basically. It was preserved originally as the one-time hunting grounds of King Henry IV. There are a couple of cafes and restaurants on the main road outside the tube station and a basic cafe in the park serving the usual range of snacks.
Currently it includes a number of commercial ventures: an equestrian centre, an 18-hole golf course and driving range and a hockey club. There is also a treetop adventure called 'Go Ape' which consists of an aerial assault course connecting trees in the Church Wood area of the park (near the entrance) via ladders, bridges and zip wires. We didn't try this, not least because it costs something like £30 per person.

Cole's World Visual Vibes: Trent Park, London
I'm proud to announce my first Visual Vibes: Cole's World video, shot and edited by yours truly.
At first I wanted my channel to be focused on revision videos, but I've decided to branch out (excuse the pun lol). When I am not being a teacher, I am just Nat: I love to go for walks, see a pretty sunset, learn a bit of history and travel.
I wish that I had started this project sooner! I feel there has been so many beautiful and wonderful places I have witnessed over the years (like the Grand Canyon and road tripping across America) that will forever live in my memory. But now I want to document some of these experiences for you.
Firstly the project was going to be for students, to give them ideas on activities they could do outside school, and showing them that they could use their time wisely to see and learn new things. However, I want it to be more than that too. I want to show that people from all background do travel and enjoy the wonders of life, and maybe inspire others to realise they can do the same.
I hope you guys will join me and support. Please like, share and subscribe to my channel for more Visual Vibe: Cole's World videos in the future.

Location: Trent Park
Trent Park is located in Cockfosters, London. It dates back to the 14th century, and King Henry VI used the grounds for hunting.
George the Third leased the estate (seen in the video) to his doctor, Richard Jebb, as a reward for saving the life of the King's brother, the Duke of Gloucester. It was named Trent as this is where the King's brother was saved (Trent, Italy).
in 1909, the estate was sold to Phillip Sassoon (cousin of poet, Siegfried Sasoon). He gained a reputation for being the best host in Britain. Some his famous guests include Winston Churchill and Charlie Chaplin.
During World War 2, the estate was used as a centre to extract information from German officers who were captured. The British were clever and made them feel somewhat welcome with rations of whisky and walks around the grounds. The Brits installed hidden microphones to listen to the German soldiers' conversations and were able to learn vital information about the German military. Notably they learnt about the German's rocket development, war crimes and gained a picture of the resistance in Germany which led to the assassination attempt on Hitler.
The work at Trent Park helped to save many lives and shorten the war itself.
The estate is now being developed into luxury flats (which explains the metal fencing), but a museum will be built inside to commemorate the Brits' efforts during the war.
As well as the history, Trent Park also has a lovely little cafe to warm up with a hot chocolate (I sure needed one after shooting this). You can also get in touch with your adventurous side and try 'Go Ape' or get lost on their nature trails.
Trent Park is definitely worth a visit, especially if you can catch a pretty sunset ;)
