Fishing BC Presents: Vancouver Fishing Charters with Pacific Angler
From urban culture to the wilds of the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver has it all ‘Like stepping back in time’
The beauty of B.C. is that few places are far from the ocean and salmon. Vancouver is no different, and visitors to the province’s largest city have the chance to experience the best of urban culture and wild sport fishing in a one-stop destination.
Jason Tonelli developed his love for fishing with his family — his grandfather taught him to fish for trout on B.C.’s interior lakes — and his business is a family experience as well. He operates Pacific Angler with others in his family, including his sister. His team of guides also becomes part of the family, making the experience of going to work more vacation than chore.
His boats and guides prowl the straights and islands off the southern coast, connecting anglers to the millions of migrating salmon that pass by en route to the rivers of their birth.
“Within five to 25 minutes of leaving the City of Vancouver, it’s like stepping back in time. What a great place to carry out the passion of fishing,” he says.

Steelhead Fishing Vancouver Island River! Amazing Summer Fish
Steelhead fishing Vancouver Island. A Vancouver Island trout fisherman swearing away not knowing he had an amazing beautiful bright summer steelhead on his line! Gorgeous fish for a small Vancouver Island West Coast river/stream. Caught using a gold Mepps spinner lure. These spectacular ocean going rainbow trout are an amazing species. The prized photo opportunity didn't quite work out how he'd planned however! Bit of a fishing fail! Mind you...we release all steelhead unharmed anyway....just that it didn't go quite as smoothly as usual!
