Day 1 : Arrival.
Pick up and assistance at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Amman for the first night.
Day 2 : Amman - Desert Castles - Amman.
After breakfast we will visit Jordan's Desert Castles : Qasr al Amra, one of the best preserved monuments, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its interior walls and ceilings are covered with lively frescoes, and two of the rooms are paved with colourful mosaics.
The black basalt fort Al Azraq, in continuous use since Late Roman times, was the headquarters of Lawrence of Arabia during the Arab Revolt.
The afternoon we spend in Amman, a sprawling city spread over 19 hills, or jebels .Amman is the modern - as well as the ancient - capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Known as Rabbath-Ammon during the Iron Age and later as Philadelphia, the ancient city was once part of the Decapolis. Visit the Citadel with the Temple of Hercules, the Umayyad Palace, Byzantine Church and the museum as well as the 6,000 seat Roman Theatre. Enjoy oriental life with a stroll through the Suk in Downtown and enjoy dinner in a typical Jordanian restaurant.
Day 3 : Amman - Jarash - Umm Qais - Dead Sea.
Today we explore Jarash, the ancient Gerasa. Jarash reveals a fine example of the grand, formal provincial Roman urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East, comprising paved and colonnaded streets, temples, theatres, baths, towers and gates.
From Umm Qais, the ancient Gadara, we will have a marvelous view to the Sea of Galilee and Golan hights. The Site was place of the famous miracle of the Gadarene swine. It was the home of several classical poets and philosophers, including The odours, founder of a rhetorical school in Rome, and was once called “a new Athens” by a poet. On our way back through the fruitful Jordan valley we pass Pella, one of the oldest cultural sites of Jordan.
In the evening we will arrive at Dead Sea
Day 4 : Dead Sea (with option Bethany).
Here you will be at the lowest place on earth with more than400 m below sea level. Relax and enjoy floating effortlessly in the warm, soothing, super salty water while soaking up the water's healthy minerals along with the gently diffused rays of the Jordanian sun and give your skin a treatment with the healthy black mud.
An excursion to the site of John the Baptist's settlement at Bethany, where Jesus was baptized, is an option.
Day 5 : Dead Sea - Mt. Nebo - Madaba - Karak - Petra.
From Dead Sea the road winds up to Mt. Nebo, one of the most revered holy sites of Jordan and the place where Moses was buried.
Madaba is best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics and home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. The Mosaic Map covers the floor of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, which was built in 1896 AD, over the remains of a much earlier 6th century Byzantine church. The mosaic panel enclosing the Map was originally around 15.6 X 6m, 94 sq.m., only about a quarter of which is preserved.
On our way to Karak we will follow the Kings Road, passing Wadi Mujib and the so called ‘Grand Canyon’ of Jordan with its spectacular views. Karak, the ancient crusader fortress, lies 900 m above sea level. Explore its endless labyrinth from arches and corridors. The castle we see today essentially dates back to the 12th century.
Shortly before arriving in Wadi Musa we will stop at Little Petra and have a glance at one of the very few preserved Nabataea paintings.
Day 6 : Petra.
This day belongs to Jordan most famous attraction: the rose-red Nabataea city of Petra. Petra is a UNESCO world heritage site and one of The New 7 Wonders of the World. Much has been written about Petra, nothing really prepares you for this amazing place. It has to be seen to be believed. The vast and unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataea’s, an industrious Arab people who settled here more than 2000 years ago, was an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, Indiaand southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome.
After an early breakfast we will enter the city via the Siq, a long narrow gorge, which after1 kmopens for Petra's most famous monument, the Treasury (El-Khazneh). We will pass the Roman-style theatre, which could seat 3,000 people, obelisks, temples, sacrificial altars and colonnaded streets. And high above, overlooking the valley, we enjoy the impressive Ed-Deir Monastery – about 800 rock cut steps take you there. If you like, ride a donkey, which is always a fun – not only for children - to climb the stairs to Ed Deir or take a camel back to the Siq.

From epic landscapes to monumental ruins, #Jordan allows us to reach out and touch the eternal and be at one with something far greater than ourselves.
The ancient Greeks knew Jordan’s capital, Amman, as Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love. Overlooking Amman is the Citadel, the city’s ancient core. Rising over the Citadel are the remaining pillars of the Temple of Hercules, a Roman temple that in its day dwarfed many in Ancient Rome.
From Amman, #journey north to Jerash, home to one of the largest concentrations of Roman ruins outside Italy. Then, continue north to Ajloun Castle, built to halt the Crusader armies as they rode down Jordan’s northern valley, hell-bent on Jerusalem.
Enter the gravel plains of the Eastern Desert and follow the Desert Castle Loop. For many, the highlight here is Qasr al-Azraq, where Lawrence of Arabia made his winter headquarters.
Travel south to Madaba, famed for the Madaba Map, one of the earliest depictions of the Holy Lands. Continue south along the Kings Highway, which once took Arabs to Mecca, and Israelites to the Promised Land.
Follow the hairpin road 1300 feet below sea level to the Dead Sea. Float in the saline waters and cover yourself in the same mineral-rich muds Cleopatra once enjoyed.
No visit to Jordan is complete without a visit to Petra. Emerge from the shadows of the Siq and gaze up at the Treasury, the greatest of all of Petra’s 500 tombs. Then continue south to explore the emptiness of Wadi Rum.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Amman Capital City of Jordan
Amman, the capital of Jordan, is a fascinating city of contrasts -- a unique blend of old and new, ideally situated on a hilly area between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley. In the commercial heart of the city, ultra-modern buildings, hotels, smart restaurants, art galleries and boutiques rub shoulders comfortably with traditional coffee shops and tiny artisans' workshops. Everywhere there is evidence of the city's much older past. Due to the city's modern-day prosperity and temperate climate, almost half of Jordan's population is concentrated in the Amman area. The residential suburbs consist of mainly tree-lined streets and avenues flanked by elegant, almost uniformly white houses in accordance with a municipal law, which states that all buildings must be faced with local stone.

Zion Gate Jerusalem - until the Six Day War (1967) was the border between Israel and Jordan
Zahi Shaked A tour guide in Israel and his camera
zahigo25@walla.com 972-54-6905522 tel
סיור עם מורה הדרך ומדריך הטיולים צחי שקד 0546905522
My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered liscenced tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.
Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.
In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)
Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be inplanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.
