Scotland At Its Finest | Gordon Castle Walled Garden
Our Walled Garden in North-East Scotland is being lovingly restored to its former glory. One of Britain’s largest, oldest walled kitchen gardens, it’s a great family day out, with a play area, and rare plants and espaliered trees giving the keen gardener plenty to admire. The working Walled Garden changes with the Scottish seasons making each visit different. Enjoy fresh ingredients, picked minutes before they’re on your plate in the family-friendly café.
Award-winning garden designer Arne Maynard is giving our Speyside Garden a new lease of life. See our dedicated team of gardeners hard at work, digging, hoeing, sowing, harvesting. Try the delicious freshly picked produce in the Moray restaurant, take some home with you from our shop, or order online.
Welcome to Gordon Castle Walled Garden
As Speyside enters the Autumn season, the project to restore one of Britain’s oldest and largest walled gardens is nearing its final development phase. Now into its fourth year of restoration, Gordon Castle Walled Garden bore plentiful fruit during 2016 for its adjoining café – much to the pleasure of its 50,000 visitors.
For those who aren't aware, owners of Gordon Castle, Angus and Zara Gordon Lennox, alongside a team of dedicated gardeners, are following a bespoke design for their historic 8.5-acre walled garden, created by award-winning garden designer, Arne Maynard. In the last couple of months, the team have completed another 2.5km of garden path using 48,000 bricks and 1000 hours of hard graft.
The project continues to thrive and we hope that visitors will come along and support us - every £1 spent in the garden goes towards a new tree or plant.
Fochabers Freezes
Arctic weather gripped Britain for the first weeks of 2010. In Fochabers temperatures were well below freezing for several weeks, with some days peaking at -10C. Powder snow brought enjoyment and disruption.

River Spey. Walking along the Speyside Way below Fochabers to Spey Bay along the Moray coast of Scotland. Excuse intrusive traffic noise from road behind. The Spey is the fastest flowing major river in the British Isles, though tame here compared to full spate conditions.
