[FILMED ON July 29, 2017] Government House is the official residence of the Governor of Victoria. The house is located next to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. Government House is open to the public on Australia Day and as part of Open House Melbourne each year. During Open House Melbourne 2017, visitors were able to explore the State Apartments which includes the Ballroom, State Drawing Room, Conservatory, State Dining Room, State Hall and Billiard Room.

The Governor of New South Wales Part 6 - In 1989 Sir David Martin, the Governor of New South Wales, appeared in an educational video about the role of the Governor. Here he discusses the powers and responsibilities of the Governor. There is also footage of functions held at Government House with the Governor as host. Some of these functions are formal, some less so.

[FILMED ON November 5, 2017] Government House is the official residence and office of Governor of New South Wales. It is one of the finest examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Sydney. The house is located inside the Royal Botanic Gardens, overlooking Sydney Harbour and Farm Cove. During Sydney Open 2017, visitors were able to explore the State Rooms which includes the main hall, dining room, drawing room and ballroom plus gardens.

President Higgins at Government House and a Famine Memorial at Subiaco, Perth, Australia
At Government House in Perth, the President and Sabina were welcomed by Her Excellency Governor Kerry Sanderson.
The welcome included a traditional Welcome to Country smoking ceremony, performed Dr. Richard Walley, an Aboriginal elder.
Later in the day, the President unveiled a Famine Memorial in Subiaco Park.
The sculpture, commissioned by the West Australia Irish Famine Commemoration committee, is designed by Charlie Smith and Joan Walsh-Smith, originally from Waterford, and commemorates the Great Irish Famine.
In addition to the sculpture, the Committee has sourced and donated Famine Travel Boxes, commemorating the 4,000 women who were sent from workhouses in Ireland to Australia.
Replicas of the Travel Boxes have been made by the Irish Prison Service and one was presented to President Higgins in January 2017. (See )
