Canada Day at Government House Regina
The Lieutenant Governor's Canada Day Celebration at Government House in Regina, Saskatchewan
Government House Regina Saskatchewan
Residence of the Lieutenant Governors of the North West Territories (1891-1905) and Saskatchewan (1905-1945). Government House is one of the few surviving territorial government buildings and was for many years the hub of official social life in Regina. Completed in 1891 to the designs of Thomas Fuller. Chief Architect of the federal Department of Public Works, it is typical of many late 19th century public buildings. The south wing, containing a ballroom and bedrooms, was added in 1928. In 1978-1980 the Saskatchewan government renovated the building and restored toe central portion.
