SEDONA AZ TO THE SOUTH RIM! VIA GRAND CANYON RAILWAY-WILLIAMS, AZ-EP44
While in Sedona AZ we road the Grand Canyon Railway train to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
The 1.5 hr drive to Williams AZ had to happen in the early am, because our train boarded at 9am sharp!
We took the bus excursion at the canyon that included lunch. If we could do it over again, with the limited time at the canyon, I would take the bus excursion WITHOUT lunch included.
We were on the Mary Coulter Luxury Parlor Train at $226/each.We would pick this same car again.

Grand Canyon Railroad Arrives in Williams
This video shows the Grand Canyon Railroad arriving into the station in Williams, AZ. Notice how it is being pushed by the locomotives so they are the last to appear. And, of course, they are diesel engines since the railroad no longer uses their steam engines.

Grand Canyon Railway Trains at Grand Canyon Village, AZ
Happy New Year everyone! Here is the first video of 2018. I spent the last full week of 2017 in the state of Arizona. The major places I visited were the Grand Canyon and Flagstaff. I had a fun time there!
In this video, you will find Grand Canyon Railway Trains in Grand Canyon Village, AZ at the Grand Canyon National Park. I also threw in a bonus clip of a Grand Canyon Railway Polar Express Train leaving Williams, AZ. The steam locos were not running at the time, but I did, however, manage to catch their only FPA in service (both A and B unit).
Train numbers used are 2 and 3 for the daily trains. 4 and 5 for the second trains they run during times in higher demand, usually on holidays. Evens north, odds south.

Grand Canyon, Arizona, by road along the South Rim, May 2012.
Driving from Flagstaff on Route 66, north on US 189, westwards on State Route 64 along the Grand Canyon's edge and then southwards on US 180 to Willam's Grand Central Station, on Route 66, the Main Road of America, the Mother Road. Driving through Canyon lands and parks was beautiful, but was bit surprised at the requirement to pay, and the cost, of just driving on route 64 which, righfully, was the only road through the area. Short Day Trip in Grand Canyon South Rim | Arizona (PREVIEW)
Short Day Trip in Grand Canyon South Rim in Arizona but man was it worth it. It is called Grand for a reason.
This is a preview of our trip in Arizona. Watch out for the whole vlog.
Grand Canyon National Park, in Arizona, is home to much of the immense Grand Canyon, with its layered bands of red rock revealing millions of years of geological history. Viewpoints include Mather Point, Yavapai Observation Station and architect Mary Colter’s Lookout Studio and her Desert View Watchtower. Lipan Point, with wide views of the canyon and Colorado River, is a popular, especially at sunrise and sunset.

Railfanning at Williams and the Grand Canyon in Arizona
In 2009 my family took a vacation to Arizona, allowing me to watch some trains that I'm not used to seeing in Ohio. The video starts out in the town of Williams. While we were waiting to board the Grand Canyon Railway's excursion train, a short BNSF intermodal train rumbled by. Shortly after that, our train pulled into the station. Then, I included a couple shots taken from on the train. I was sure to include a panoramic shot of the Grand Canyon. We stayed in the Grand Canyon National Park for a few nights, giving me a chance to watch the passenger train pull out of the station. When we returned to Williams, I found a spot north of the town where BNSF's busy transcontinental route crosses over a road. Within the first ten minutes of being there, a BNSF train came roaring through the countryside. While watching the intermodal train roll by, I heard a loud rumble in the distance. To my surprise, it was yet another BNSF intermodal, which was moving up beside the first one at a high rate of speed. Those were the last two trains I saw while staying in this part of Arizona.
HOPE YOU ENJOY!

Steam Locomotive 4960 - Arizona Centennial Train - Grand Canyon Departure
Grand Canyon Railway (GCR) operated the Official Arizona Centennial Train on Feb. 14, 2012 by making a special round-trip run to Grand Canyon National Park using GCR's steam locomotive #4960. This historic locomotive has been converted to use recycled vegetable oil for fuel, and reclaimed rain and snow melt are used in the boiler for steam.
Centennial Train passengers rode coach class in fully refurbished historic 1923 Harriman-style rail cars for only $7.50 round trip, approximately what it cost in 1912. The Winslow Harvey Girls and the Bill Williams Mountain Men were also onboard and provided narrative information and stories from Arizona?s history.
The train trip from Williams to Grand Canyon National Park takes approximately two hours and 15 minutes and runs 65 miles through ponderosa pine forests and scenic high-desert landscapes. The train normally offers four classes of service -- coach, first class, observation dome and luxury parlor.
