Grapevine Vintage Railroad - Full Ride - Grapevine To Fort Worth
*This video was shot pre-TEXRail, the line has been majorly overhauled on the section show between time marks 0:00 and 30:00
After several days and a computer constantly failing on me, it is here, brought to you first by Texas Trains!
Have you ever wondered what the whole GVRR route looks like? Have you wondered, what I don't show? Well, here it is, the full trip to Fort Worth.
On April 16th I went out for a ride on the GVRR. On my way there I bought some stuff for my GoPro in hopes I could record the trip as I would be getting a cabride. Well my hopes became a reality and I was given the okay to put my GoPro on 2199's sandcap. This video is the first video of the trip from Grapevine to Fort Worth with no cuts inbetween. It's a mix of Timelapse and real time video.
Thanks for watching and as always, Happy Railfanning!

Grapevine Vintage Railroad North Pole Express 2017
On a rainy day of 12/22/17, my mom told she was gonna take me to Grapevine to see the GVRR’s North Pole Express. We were only able to see it 2 times due to the weather.
Sorry for the audio error at the second half of the second video, I don’t know what happened.
Hopefully GVRR 2248 (Puffy) will be here for next year’s event.
I also saw one of TEXRail’s cars. I’m really looking forward to it
Grapevine Vintage Railroad 2248 climbs grade at Grapevine, Tx. on June 17, 2008
Engine 2248, affectionately known as Puffy, climbs a grade out of Grapevine, Texas with the Trinity Star. Loco is an 1896 built Cooke Locomotive Works 4-6-0 type steam locomotive. It is ex-Texas State Railroad 200, & ex- Southern Pacific 2248.
Grapevine Vintage Railroad
On Labor Day weekend, 2009, my wife Carla and I took a ride on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. We rode from Grapevine, TX to the Fort Worth Stockyards. There was a train robbery along the way. We weren't able to get good video of the robbery since we were on the wrong side of the train. The gunfire was loud, though, and all the kids on board had a blast.

Grapevine Vintage Railroad
Grapevine, TX
The Grapevine Vintage Railroad, located in Grapevine, TX, operates a heritage passenger train excursion between downtown Grapevine and the historic Fort Worth Stockyards on most weekends of the year. The prized star of the GVRR is a 4-6-0 steam locomotive, no. 2248, affectionately nicknamed Puffy. Built in 1896, it is the oldest continuously operating steam locomotive in the Southern United States.
Puffy was regularly operated on GVRR excursions to the Fort Worth Stockyards until 2010, when several cracks in a piston cylinder forced the engine out of service. The GVRR then placed its 1953-built GP7 diesel engine no. 2199 (nicknamed Vinny) in charge of the excursion trains to the Stockyards while Puffy underwent the necessary repair work. Three years after being sidelined for mechanical problems, Puffy re-entered service on the GVRR, pulling special Friday night wine trains to Haltom City.
Here we see Puffy's welcoming back excursion on the GVRR which took place on the evening of Friday, October 18, 2013.
2015 North Pole Express At The Grapevine Vintage Railroad
This time is with out GVRR 2248 (Puffy) due to the 15 year inspection. At the End of this video, I had shared some of my photos that were about GVRR 2248 Steam Locomotive that had been officially under taking apart due to the 15 Year Inspection (like what I sad). These Photos were taken Around December 22 2015 in the Mid-Afternoon (yes there are mine). The Plan Schedule to do the 15 year inspection was around the beginning of January of 2016 but since Puffy gave up already (on 10-31-15) the Employees of the GVRR scheduled around December (since I was the first one to take photos seeing her under taking part maybe) and I thought it was an early Operational since they only had one more month. I know its so sadly to see her under taking apart :( but don't worry! she will get replaced soon better!
Had Quite fun also on North Pole Express event with some good horn, cab rides and more. Hopefully 2016 the North Pole Express event will make it better!
The New Grapevine: Grapevine Vintage Railroad 2018 First Run
With the highly anticipated arrival of TEXRail right around the corner Grapevine sure has changed a lot in the passed few months. From new platforms and a new track to modern signals on each end, one thing has remain constant, the Grapevine Vintage Railroad. Even with all the activity getting the line ready the GVRR hasn't skipped a beat, still providing passengers with weekly trips to the Fort Worth Stockyard. On March 3rd, 2018 the railroad made their first public trip of the year to Fort Worth, using the new track to their advantage for a smooth ride there. Shown in this video is the departure of the train from Grapevine on their dedicated track heading west to Fort Worth. I hope to have videos showing the train on other parts of the remodeled line here in the coming weeks.

I shot this in October of 2013 which I believe was a first outing of the refurbished steam loco. Somehow I 'lost' this footage until today. It's short but fun.

Being that this channel is as much a personal part of my life as it is a source of income, I felt it was appropriate to share an amazing memory of mine on this channel as well. Back during the wild times of Hurricane Harvey in August 2017, my beautiful girlfriend and I evacuated up to the Dallas/ Fort Worth region while the hurricane raged down in Houston. During this time, I showed her many of the sights and sounds of what was once my hometown, especially the wonderful ride from Grapevine, to Fort Worth, TX aboard the Tarantula Train. So ALL ABOARD everyone for this wonderful train trip through the wilds of North Texas!

Grapevine Vintage RR (GVRR 2248) steam returns! 10/31/2010 ©
Grapevine Vintage Railroad steam engine 4-6-0, ex-SP returns to service on the FWWR tracks for the Halloween 1pm departure to Ft. Worth and the stockyards. Upon arrival, the crew do an inspection on the once busted and recently repaired cylinder to find the same catastrophe has happened again on the same cylinder. Rumor has it, the first time, an excess amount of water got into the cylinder which would not compress the same as steam, therefore busting the housing back pressure plate. Today, who knows? The plate broke again in 7 places as evident by the cracks shown at the end of the video. GVRR 2199, the GP7 diesel was taken from the rear of the train and turned on the turntable at the stockyards which then returned the train (w/o steam) to the Grapevine depot/shops.
