CapeTown HopOn HopOff
The best way to see Cape Town and its surroundings is to take the red hop-on, hop-off sight seeing bus, as well as the canal cruises around the V&A waterfront. This video is an overview of where and how. It then follows the red bus on two of its routes, and close off with the canal cruise to the Cape Town International Convention Center.

Guided Tour around Kirstenbosch Gardens Cape Town
We picked a rainy day to do some family time and headed out to explore some iconic spots on the south side of Cape Town. Accompanied by Dean's cousin from Colorado and her bestie from North Carolina, we ventured towards the beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.
The gardens are an important landmark for Cape Town as they put on an extraordinarily rich and diverse display of indigenous flora. The Cape Floral Kingdom is impressively unique as it covers the smallest area of land in comparison to the other floral kingdoms by far, but at the same time has the highest diversity of plant species by far. The Fynbos families make up for 80% of the Cape Floral Kingdom (there are about 8500 species of Fynbos) and 6000 of these are endemic to the area surrounding Cape Town. Fynbos means fine bush as it describes the thin leaves synonymous with the Fynbos species. There are so many fascinating facts about these plants, but we think it may be best that you come through and learn about it while you are here.
On entering the nature reserve, bordering Table Mountain National Park, we aimed our attention towards the Boomslang Tree Canopy Walk. The dramatic clouds and views made it quite easy to admire this magnificent World Heritage Site. We continued through open fields and dense foliage, discovering Proteas, cycads and the forest of centurions. We climbed through trees and inhaled the wondrous scents in the herb garden… Regardless of rain, this is a must do if you plan on visiting Cape Town on holiday. There are many breathtaking and engaging activities that you can find on your journey through the micro and macrocosm of the Botanical Gardens. Take your first step!
The next part of the day took us further south towards Kalk Bay. We abandoned the car at St James, on account of a bit of road-works traffic, and walked the rest of the way. There is a cool walk way between the railway line and the sea. Our destination was the Brass Bell for fish and chips and a beer, the best way to catch up with family whilst overlooking the sea, with the Kalk bay harbor on the right, the Kalk bay surfers an the left and the Kalk Bay lighthouse under a beautiful rainbow dead ahead. All in all a fantastic day.

COLORFUL BO-KAAP and a STROLL around CAPE TOWN | South Africa
After our safari in Kruger National Park, we flew to Cape Town. Bo-Kaap is a small neighborhood in Cape Town that far exceeded our expectations. We loved walking around the colorful buildings before heading to an Eastern food market and the piers. The people of South Africa are so kind, and we loved our first day!

Hi! We're just your average husband and wife flying around the world in business class for FREE. Without our miles and points, we never would have been able to afford this once-in-a-lifetime experience. We grew up on opposite sides of the United States in Texas and Ohio. Later in college, we met and got married in August of 2016. As poor newly weds and recent college grads, we moved to New York City to begin what we thought would be our long careers in finance. Only one year later, after accumulating over 2 million points through travel hacking, we booked round-the-world business class tickets to over 40 countries. Completely for free, using the personal travel hacks we had learned to save us $62,000. We quit our jobs, sold everything we owned, and began this once-in-a-lifetime adventure on August 27, 2018. Our hope is to entertain and enrich you every day through our daily videos, as well as share the personal travel hacks we're using to travel the world for free :) Let's be friends :) say hello sometime!

Cape Town City tour by African Eagle
To get a taste of the thriving centre of the Mother City, a Cape Town city tour is not to be missed. Situated in the middle of Cape Town, the city lies in the shelter of Table Mountain. Here you will find a number of the Cape's top attractions, from the imposing Castle of Good Hope to the colourful cottages of the Bo Kaap, the bustling Green Market Square, South African Museum and beautiful Company Gardens and plenty more besides. With an experienced and knowledgeable guide, and from the comfort of an air-conditioned vehicle, you will be able to learn more about the Cape Town CBD and its surrounds, in a city tour that is sure to leave you with plenty of memories and photographs of this part of the Cape. Some interesting facts about the city can be learned on this Cape Town tour, including the following:
• The Castle of Good Hope, which stands proudly on the outskirts of the CBD, was built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East India Company (VOC). The Castle was developed as a maritime replenishment station, and from 1678 it was the centre of civilian, administrative and military life at the Cape until the area grew and operations expanded elsewhere. Today, the Castle is the seat of the military in the Cape, and is open for visitors to explore and learn more about its history.
• Tucked under the slopes of Signal Hill, the Bo Kaap is a fascinating and vibrant area that was somehow bypassed in the forced removals of the Apartheid. Also called the Malay Quarter, this area is characterised by its multi-coloured cottages and steep cobbled streets, as well as its exotic Malay culture. No tours in Cape Town would be complete without a visit to the Bo Kaap!
• For those who enjoy a sense of history, the South African Museum offers a look at life throughout the ages in South Africa. Many exhibits can be found here, and there is also a Planetarium situated within the building. The museum is situated in the Company Gardens, which holds the Seat of Parliament. Pristine lawns, shady paths, ornate fish ponds, statues of past leaders and plenty of curious squirrels are just part of the Company Gardens' charm.
Other highlights that you can enjoy on a Cape city tour include a stop past the famous Blue Flag beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay. These beaches lie along the Atlantic Seaboard, which stretches from the Waterfront all the way through to Hout Bay along the Atlantic coast. Situated just a few minutes away from the CBD, the beaches are ideal for sunbathing and water sports (even if the water is somewhat chilly). All of this and so much more can be enjoyed on these memorable Cape Town city tours.
