Sonoma County, Guerneville Gastronomy: The Mini-Empire of Crista Luedtke
Guerneville is a small town with a bohemian vibe, located in western Sonoma County along the Russian River. Since 2008 it’s also been the mini-empire of entrepreneur Crista Luedtke who transformed downtown Guerneville into a hipster destination. In this episode, we check out some of her popular businesses including Boon: Hotel + Spa, Boon: Eat + Drink, Big Bottom Market (and its yummy Oprah-worthy biscuits), and Guerneville Bank Club for some handcrafted ice cream & pie.

Haunted Sonoma County - Movie Trailer 2019
Haunted Sonoma County is a feature length documentary film. A historical journey across Sonoma County to haunted locations. Now showing:
Next Pacific storm to take aim at California this weekend.
Following #devastating #flooding at midweek, #California residents will have a short window of time to prepare for the next storm, set to arrive late on Friday.
The first precipitation associated with the weekend storm should move onshore Friday night, with the bulk of the moisture streaming into the state on Saturday, said AccuWeather Meteorologist Kyle Elliott.
Areas recently hit hard by heavy rain and dangerous flooding can receive more rainfall this weekend. This includes places such as the San Francisco and Santa Rosa areas as well as Guerneville, which was evacuated as floodwaters overflowed from Russian River on Tuesday.
Water levels will rise again, and areas that escaped the worst impacts from flooding and mudslides earlier this week may experience them this time.
It will be important to plan ahead in order to protect property and livelihoods, and to stay up to date on local warnings and evacuation notices.
While residents of these areas should prepare for worsened flood conditions, the heaviest rain is expected to land farther south.
Areas between San Francisco and Los Angeles are likely to receive the highest rainfall amounts, on the order of 1-3 inches, Elliott said. So while Southern California escaped much of the weather from the Monday to Wednesday storm, the storm from Friday night to Saturday is likely to pack quite a punch.
The highest rainfall totals are expected in the foothills of the Sierras as well as over coastal areas. Road closures are likely as flooding and mudslides make stretches of highway, including Highway 1, impassable.
Anyone on the road should drive with extreme caution, as low visibility and standing water can make driving extremely hazardous in times of heavy rain. Motorists should keep an eye out for downed trees and mudslides and never attempt to traverse a flooded roadway.
Extensive airline delays are possible as heavy rain, low visibility and gusty winds batter the region on Saturday.
Ski resort workers will need to keep their plows and shovels handy, as another round of heavy snow is also on tap with several feet of fresh accumulation possible.
Dry weather is expected to overspread the state on Saturday night, this time lasting for a few days before the next storm moves onshore next Tuesday or Wednesday.
The weekend storm will provide another fresh influx of cool air, maintaining the unusually chilly weather that has been in place in California over the past couple of weeks.
This has prevented downtown Los Angeles from reaching 70 degrees Fahrenheit so far in February. If this continues on Thursday, it will be the first time this has happened in more than 100 years of record keeping.

Thousands in California and Nevada told to evacuate due to flooding
Heavy rains and flooding along rivers forced the evacuation of thousands of people in a California wine making region and an area of Nevada east of Lake Tahoe on Monday, officials said, with more storms on the way.
Regions of California and Nevada, two states which have suffered from drought for years, were walloped by storms over the past week from a weather system called the Pineapple Express that sent moisture streaming from Hawaii.
The storms have knocked out power for more than 570,000 customers of Pacific Gas and Electric in northern and central California since Saturday, but electricity has been restored to almost all of them, said company spokesman Tom Schmitz.
The storms are the latest in a wet winter expected to put a considerable dent in California's years-long drought. Just north of San Francisco, rains caused the Russian River in Sonoma County to flood early on Monday, the county Sheriff's department said.
That led to the evacuation overnight of more than 3,000 residents in the area of Guerneville, Jonathan Gudel, a spokesman for the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, said by phone.

You know it is a big loss for everyone. It would be nice if people gave us some help out here, but you know, whatever. Bring some water trucks in. (Q: Have you seen many people come out here trying to help you out?) Well, I guess just friends, friends of friends of friends that have already lived through this before so that's who's helping.
12. SOUNDBITE (English) Stephen Cashrad, Resident:
Go back up, a little bit past this road, and it gets dry again. But I mean you get too close to the river on the roads and you're done, you know what I mean, because it just takes all the roads by the river.

14. SOUNDBITE (English) Dan Levin, Information Officer for the Russian River Command Post:
Well the river has crested at over 42 feet. And it's not coming down yet, it's pretty much level, and so it's anticipated that it's going to hover at this crest for the next 12 hours. And then it will slowly begin to recede but that's all weather dependent. So we're waiting to find out what the weather does to us and whether or not we're going to see an increase in river levels.

STORYLINE:
The second major storm in two days washed across Northern California on Sunday, prolonging the threat of flooding as residents tried to clean up thick layers of mud and debris left behind as the first wave of floodwater receded.
Hundreds of homes and businesses were inundated on Saturday as heavy rain sent the Napa and Russian rivers spilling over their banks.
In many areas, the rivers and creeks were back within banks, though some towns remained flooded or flooded again as the rain, heavy at times, came and went throughout the day on Sunday.
The Sonoma County town of Guerneville was among those still fighting floodwater amid pouring rain.
At least two more inches (five more centimetres) of rain was forecast across Northern California on Sunday, on top of the four to nine inches (10 to 23 centimetres) that had already swamped the region, the National Weather Service said.
Wildfire-damaged areas of Southern California were also under a flash flood watch and a threat of mudslides as heavy rain headed in their direction.
