Hana Tour K Travel Bus to Jeollanam-do| Day 1 Namsan Guesthouse
I took one of my friends on a 2-day tour to Jeollanam-do. A place I have never been. It was great!
We stayed in a guesthouse the night prior because of the early meetup.
We stayed at Namsan Guesthouse.
It was a really great experience at the guesthouse.

HanaTour! Travel Montage 하나투어 이야기
Please CLICK to read :::::::::
When my good friend Hyunwoo called me a few months ago mentioning a trip with Hana Tour, I had no idea it would end up happening so soon, and I had no idea it would be so awesome! We spent three days all over the south of Korea. We went to JeonJu, Mokpo, Boseong, Namhae, Suncheon, and the last stop was conveniently Jinju.
If my mom comes to Korea to visit me, which I imagine she will before the end of my time here, I know she would love traveling with Hana Tour. I just kept thinking how great it would be for her. She loves visiting small places, and doing little activities like paper making, and she also loves eating delicious foods. Since I'm a vegetarian, our travel hosts made a good effort to find suitable meals for me though most of the main dishes were fish and meat. My mom can't eat spicy food, but I'd feel comfortable putting her in the hands of our guides.
Now, most of you know I've been in Korea for three years now, and my Korean skills are good enough to travel around without a translator. But, if my mom was to come visit me, she would have a lot of difficulty knowing where to go, what to do, where to go to eat and what the special local dishes are. Our sweet Hana Tour guides took amazing care of us, and explained the significance of the places we went, as well as the activities we did and foods we ate.
The accommodations were just amazing. As some of you might know by some of my travel videos, I'm pretty much a budget traveler wherever I go. I usually stay in the cheapest rooms I can find, so for me, a night in the Hotel Hyundai in Mokpo was like a night sleeping in heaven. The beds were like perfect marshmallows and I slept like a baby on the soft sheets. It was first class comfort and service all around. I know my mom would love spending the night there.
This trip is good for anyone who wants to see a lot of Korea in a short time. In three days we visited more cities than I visited in my whole first year in Korea. Also, for Clara who's lived in Korea for 3 years now, it was her first time out of Seoul. Hana Tour introduced us to fantastically rich naturally beautiful places, which produced amazing pictures. In those three short days, we were able to create a lot of lasting memories and have a lot of culturally enlightening experiences while also having the freedom to wander off and have our own free time when we wanted it.
I love that Hana Tour operates their tours even if there is only one guest. I've never heard of a tour company offering tours for one. These tours truly are luxurious, and they really put their guests first, and we were absolutely their number one priority at each moment.
Now that I'm back in Jinju, after this whirlwind southerly adventure, I feel really grateful to have had the chance to explore some new places in Korea. I'm also grateful to have met our awesome tour guides Jason and Billy. Their warm passion for Korean history and culture made the places we visited even more meaningful and special. Without them, I never would have known that Suncheon has one of the top five largest wetlands in the world, or that people still live in the old style grass huts of the Joseon dynasty. I also never would have known that the Hilton in Namhae has the best sauna facilities I've ever seen in all of Korea (and I've been to a lot of saunas...). Overall, the experience was exhilarating, exhausting, exciting and exactly what a satisfying trip should be. Thank you so much again to all the amazing staff at Hana Tour for making this trip possible, thanks to our guides Billy and Jason for all the laughs, thanks to Steve, Hyunwoo, Jenna, Jaime and Clara for making so many awesome memories with me, and thank you to YOU, all 2000 of you subscribers for supporting my videos, and allowing me the opportunity to share my travels with you!
Happy travels kids!

Get QOT! #3 - RUN DMZ!!!! [GoPro Korea]
It's part scavenger hunt, part Amazing Race; however, no matter how you describe it, the 2013 Run DMZ event in August was 100% fun. The event was held in Inje County, about two hours east of Seoul in Gangwon Province. Since the end of the Korean War (called the 6-25 War in Korea), the DMZ has continued to be one of the most heavily fortified borders in the world. To promote tourism and peace, many are trying to re-brand the DMZ as a Peace and Life Zone. The Run DMZ event was part of that effort. Jo and I were invited to participate in one of this year's contests - I'm glad we went.
Run DMZ
The premise was simple. At each of the three staging areas, teams would complete a series of tasks. Each team would need to pay for each event with a Mission Coin - which would allow a single attempt. Unsuccessful attempts would require an additional Mission Coin. When judges felt that a team had successfully completed the task, they would award a Mission Stamp. Each location had a time limit for completing the assigned tasks. Usually, the events allowed for teams to complete other events, or bonus missions, for extra stamps.
Here's a break down of the events we completed:
Walking on reflexology stones and doing math
Museum item quiz (local farming equipment)
Identify the animal through charades
Find the Chinese characters
Paper butterfly flight contest
Ball toss
Find the animals
Identify the paw print
Photo scavenger hunt
As you can see by the map above, we completed all nine of the major events. We also racked up an impressive 44 extra stamps through bonus missions. So how did we do?
That's right - 3rd place. It was a total blast, despite having to get up at 3:30am in order to shower and get ready to the bus stop early enough to ride into Seoul. Would I do the Run DMZ event again? Sure. It was a great time and had nothing to do with the fact we came in 3rd. While the events themselves really didn't do much to promote peace or nature - it was fun and a beautiful place to escape to at the end of the summer season.
Another thing that really made the event successful, was the fact we didn't have to plan everything ourselves. The Korean English Network (on Facebook) and a marketing manager for the DongA Ilbo put the group together and provided Korean team leaders for us. This insured that we had at least one member of our team who was bilingual to respond to questions and directions, since none of the official documents were presented in English (however, organizers did speak enough so our translators could actually enjoy themselves).
