Japan Trip 2012 Tokyo The Jingūbashi (Jingū bridge) Harajuku Station Shibuya
Cosplay
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Jingūbashi (Jingū bridge) which passes over the Yamanote Line south of Harajuku Station, Tokyo, at the Meiji Shrine gate is a famous gathering place for cosplayers.
Cosplay in Japan
Cosplayers in Japan used to refer to themselves as reiyā (レイヤー?); pronounced layer. Currently in Japan, cosplayers are more commonly called kosupure (コスプレ?); pronounced ko-su-pray, as reiyā is more often used to describe layers (i.e.: hair, clothes, etc.).Those who photograph players are called cameko, short for Camera Kozō or Camera Boy. Originally the cameko give prints of their photos to players as gifts. Increased interest in cosplay events both on the part of photographers and cosplayers willing to model for them have led to formalisation of procedures at events such as Comiket. Photography takes place within a designated area removed from the exhibit hall.
Cosplay at fan events likely originated in Japan in 1978.Since 1998, Tokyo's Akihabara district contains a number of cosplay restaurants, catering to devoted anime and cosplay fans, where the waitresses at such cafés dress as video game or anime characters; maid cafés are particularly popular. In Japan, Tokyo's Harajuku district is the favourite informal gathering place to engage in cosplay in public. Events in Akihabara also draw many cosplayers. In Iga, Mie, an annual festival Iga Ueno Ninja Festa draws thousands of people dressed up in ninja costumes.

Japan Trip 2013 Tokyo Meiji-Shrine torii(gate) Jingū-Bashi (Bridge) Harajuku Station in Shibuya 654
Meiji Shrine
Meiji Shrine (明治神宮 Meiji Jingū), located in Shibuya, Tokyo, is the Shinto shrine that is dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken.
History
After the emperor's death in 1912, the Japanese Diet passed a resolution to commemorate his role in the Meiji Restoration. An iris garden in an area of Tokyo where Emperor Meiji and Empress Shōken had been known to visit was chosen as the building's location.
Construction began in 1915 under Itō Chūta, and the shrine was built in the traditional nagare-zukuri style and is made up primarily of Japanese cypress and copper. It was formally dedicated in 1920, completed in 1921, and its grounds officially finished by 1926.[3] Until 1946, the Meiji Shrine was officially designated one of the Kanpei-taisha (官幣大社), meaning that it stood in the first rank of government supported shrines.
The original building was destroyed during the Tokyo air raids of World War II. The present iteration of the shrine was funded through a public fund raising effort and completed in October, 1958.
Meiji Shrine was brought into the flow of current events with the 2009 visit of United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. After arriving in Tokyo on her first foreign trip representing the newly elected President Barack Obama, she made her way to this shrine in advance of meetings with Japan's leaders to show her respect toward history and the culture of Japan.
In January 2010, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle demonstrated the same respect when he concluded his visit to Japan with a visit of the shrine.

Japan Trip 2013 Tokyo Harajuku Station Overcrowded in Shibuya 656
Harajuku Station
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Harajuku Station (原宿駅 harajuku-eki?) is a railway station in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East). The station takes its name from the area on its eastern side, Harajuku.
Lines
This station is served by the Yamanote Line. It is also adjacent to Meiji-Jingumae Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line, and is marked as an interchange on most route maps, although there is no physical connection between the two stations.
Station layout
The station consists of a single island platform serving two tracks. An additional temporary platform is located on the west side of the station usable by trains traveling towards Shinjuku which is used when major events occur in the area, especially around New Year when many people visit Meiji Shrine.
The main entrance is at the southern end of the station. A smaller entrance leading to the centre of the platform is convenient for Takeshita Street, a famous area in Harajuku. Takeshita Street is a popular shopping street and the Takeshita Street entrance to Harajuku Station is often very crowded. This congestion creates a bottleneck on weekends when scores of tourists and locals arrive and leave the shopping areas in and around Takeshita Street.
Outside of the Imperial train platform
To the north of the station there is a separate platform serving a loop on the east side of the freight line for use by the Imperial train.35°40′27″N 139°42′14″E
Platform edge doors are scheduled to be installed on the platforms during fiscal 2014.

Japan March 2018 Solo Trip (part 2): Shibuya, Yoyogi Park, and Harajuku
(Please play in HD)
For the second part of my trip I went to: Shibuya, Meiji Shrine/Yoyogi Park, St. Patrick's Day festival in Yoyogi Park, and Harajuku again (the Hedgehog cafe was located in Harajuku). I actually got lost trying to find the entrance to Yoyogi Park, since I didn't know the actual park had a different entrance to the shrine.

But everything were going nice!
