Hartlepool is a town in County Durham, England. The town lies on the North Sea coast, 7.5 miles north of Middlesbrough and 17 miles south of Sunderland. The Borough of Hartlepool includes outlying villages such as Seaton Carew, Greatham and Elwick.
Hartlepool was founded in the 7th century AD, around the Northumbrian monastery of Hartlepool Abbey. The village grew in the Middle Ages and its harbour served as the official port of the County Palatine of Durham. After a railway link from the north was established from the South Durham coal fields, an additional link from the south, in 1835, together with a new port, resulted in further expansion, with the new town of West Hartlepool.
Nearby towns and cities include: Billingham (8 mi or 13 km): Darlington (25 mi or 40 km); Durham (17 mi or 27 km); Middlesbrough (12 mi or 19 km); Peterlee (8 mi or 13 km); Seaham (17 mi or 27 km); Sedgefield (13 mi or 21 km); Stockton-on-Tees (10 mi or 16 km) and Sunderland (21 mi or 34 km). The monument at Eston Nab can be seen, beyond the far side of the Tees Bay, to the south.
Hartlepool is served by two primary routes which are the A179 road and the A689 road, both linking the town to the A19 road. Hartlepool is served by Hartlepool and Seaton Carew railway stations. Hartlepool has been a major seaport virtually since it was founded, and has a long fishing heritage.

REBUILD OF HMS WARRIOR IN HARTLEPOOL. UK

In August 1979 Warrior began her 800-mile (1,300 km) journey to her temporary home in the Coal Dock at Hartlepool for restoration as a museum ship. She arrived on 2 September 1979 and began the £9 million restoration project, largely funded by the Manifold Trust. The Maritime Trust decided to restore Warrior to her 1862 condition with the aim that no further major work would be necessary for the next 20 years.
The ship left Hartlepool on 12 June 1987 and was towed 390 miles (630 km) to the Solent in four days. When she entered Portsmouth Harbour she was welcomed by thousands of people lining the town walls and shore, and by over 90 boats and ships.She opened as a museum on 27 July.The restored ironclad was renamed HMS Warrior (1860) to avoid confusion with the Northwood Headquarters, commissioned as HMS Warrior in 1963, which was at the time the operational headquarters of the Royal Navy

During the winter months, Britain is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and 10 hours behind Sydney. Western standard time is five hours behind.
From late March until late October, the clocks go forward one hour to British Summer Time (BST).

Hartlepool Historic Quay
Hartlepool's Maritime Experience is a visitor attraction in Hartlepool, Cleveland, in the northeast of England. The concept of the attraction is the thematic re-creation of an 18th-century seaport, in the time of Lord Nelson, Napoleon and the Battle of Trafalgar. HMS Trincomalee, a Royal Navy frigate and Britain's oldest warship afloat is at the centre of the quay. She was built in Bombay, India in 1817. The 190th anniversary of the ship's official launch was on Friday 12 October 2007.

I'm proud to call Hartlepool my true home. I love it for all its charms and warts.
The video is meant to portray the town as it was for that day I filmed there. Some places look terribly run down and will not see many more years as the identity of Hartlepool changes.
It's a record of the transition, it's not propaganda for the Hartlepool tourist board nor is it meant to highlight the more negative appearance of the town.
Once some of these old places are gone that's it. We'll only have photographs and hand-me-down stories from generations before us.
I'm proud of the town and I look at these aged buildings and structures with reminiscence and respect. I just wanted to capture a little bit of history before it's gone.
Remember - if you're from Hartlepool you make the town what it is. If you say it's a shithole it will be. Do something about it - Pick up your litter, bring your kids up right, help nanas carry their shopping - then you'll see it's attitude that makes it what it is.

The third day I was due at a conference in Liverpool so I spent all day driving and ended up back at where I started pretty much.

The sun shone beautifully over Hartlepool Marina all day, with the rain only coming at the end of the shoot. Then, just as we were packing the kit away, a wonderful rainbow came out over the North Sea.
