56094 Thrashes Wigan - 21 September 2012

Colas Rail Class 56, 56094 makes a very rare visit to the Northern section of the West Coast Main Line. Seen here thrashing Wigan North Western with a supplemental empty logs working and running 11 minutes early to boot.

Colas are apparently looking at moving their Class 56 fleet onto the logs workings which will allow their Class 66 locomotives to be used on new coal flows. This then is hopefully a taste of things to come. I should mention that after working a loaded logs train the following day, it then failed. That said Colas drivers in this area have all been refreshed on the grids...

* I am aware that empty logs is not a proper description but it is the term used by us on the platform rather than empty log wagons :/

Friday 21 September 2012. Colas Rail's 56094 working a trial run with empty log carriers 6Z69 Chirk - Carlisle Yard. Captured here heading north on the WCML through Moore, Cheshire. It's looking like the Grids will become a permanent fixture on the logs soon, great stuff Colas :)

Class 156 Departing Nottingham For Skegness 29/07/14

Class 156 and 2 class 153's joined together departing Nottingham for Skegness. Everything near enough was replacement busses at Nottingham due to industrial action oh the joys.
