Montréal, a city with a rich past - archaeological heritage
Did you know that Montréal was a fortified city? Learn about its urban landscape, wood palisade dating back to the 17th century and the construction of the stone fortification in the 18th century, which protected the city's large institutional buildings featuring walled-in gardens, as well as some 400 houses. Discover the military structure that surrounded the city, with six metre high walls and 14 fortified fronts.
This short film produced in 2011, tells the story of Montréal as a fortified city within modern urban development.

Time Lapse: West Island of Montréal, Québec Heritage Journey
July 16, 2017 - I'm back on the Island of Montréal! More specifically, I'm in the city of Dorval, where Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport is located.
West of here is...well...the West Island of Montréal, home to much of the city's english-speaking suburbs - as well as being home to my Anglo-Quebecois ancestry, both my parents and grandparents. This calls for a nostalgic tour of reminiscence!
I visit the communities of Beaconsfield, Baie D'Urfe, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, as well as a favourite chicken rotisserie of mine in Kirkland - St-Hubert - and an infamous scene of a crash I had back in March of 2004 on the Trans-Canada Highway.
Oh, the memories!
Speaking of memories - I will be back! Just coming through Montréal made me realize I need to swing by more often to see family and enjoy what is likely the most culturally significant city in Canada.
Also, Go Habs Go.

Montreal's threatened heritage
Every year, Héritage Montréal publishes its threatened emblematic sites list. Added to this year's list was St-Henri's Workers' Houses, made famous by Gabrielle Roy's novel The Tin Flute. These little homes along St-Augustin, near the Lachine Canal, are now being threatened by the push for development in southwest Montréal.
The Redpath Mansion, Montreal
Built in 1886, the Redpath Mansion is a rare example of Queen Anne architecture still standing in Montreal.
The Golden Square Mile mansion was saved in in 1986 after part of it was demolished.
The owners now want to raze the rest to build condos.
Projet Montréal and Heritage Montreal are trying to stop the condo project.

Moving and living in Montreal, Quebec. Our adventure from Finland to Canada (through New York)
A short video showing how moving to Montreal (from Finland) and living there went.
Video clips and some still images around the city by the eyes of the foreigner: downtown Montreal, Mackay and Dr Penfield street apartments, La Ronde amusement park, Atwater, L´International Des Feux Loto-Québec (some of the clips are only few seconds long)...
At the beginning of the video also briefly seen: downtown New York and the clip of the bus trip from NYC to Montreal. At another video of mine there's more video material about international fireworks competition in Montreal.
