High Falls, Grand Portage State Park, Minnesota (Trip 2 Vid 13) United States
Grand Portage State Park is located right next to the Canadian border in northern Minnesota on Highway 61 on the North Shore of Lake Superior. High Falls is the highest waterfall in the state of Minnesota that is partially in the state, the other half is in Canada. It is a really beautiful waterfall.

Grand Portage State Park Waterfalls, Minnesota USA side
Grand Portage State park. Highest waterfalls in Minnesota. Estimated at 130-150 feet although has never been measured. Sorry for the water drops on my lens. I was a ways away and still could feel the mist.
This falls is on the Pigeon river that meanders through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) along Minnesota, US and Ontario, Canada border and drains into Lake Superior.
Minnesota Pigeon Falls
From a craft show in Grand Marais, a quick peek at Grand Portage, and right up to the border to see Pigeon Falls - that's Canada right across the river...nice state park, with boardwalks through the woods...those falls are the reason there is such a place as Grand Portage - more to see there in a bit...

High Falls in Grand Portage on May 30 2018 by Travis Novitsky
Wrapping up our weekly #waterfallwednesday videos with High Falls at Grand Portage State Park at the United States and Canadian border. Today's video comes courtesy of local photographer Travis Novitsky who took a trip up to the falls. While the heavy spring flow has slowed a bit, the recent rains are increasing the flowage. At 120' of pure waterfall awesome, High Falls always delivers an incredible experience.

Minnesota High Falls 5-23-2013
The week of May 20, 2013, was one of tragic storms across North America, and the Lake Superior region wasn't spared, with heavy rain occurring all around the lake. There were road washouts south of Wawa in the east, flooding in Thunder Bay, road overflows in many area and major increases in rivers on every shore. This was most evident with record flows over almost all of the waterfalls. The High Falls on the Pigeon River, on the border between the United States and Canada in northern Minnesota, experienced almost double its normal flow midweek after the rains. This video, shot on Thursday morning, May 23rd, shows heavy flow over the falls at almost 6,500 cubic feet per second. The depth gauges on the river showed higher levels than the record rainfall of June 2012. Hundreds of mini-waterfalls came to life along all of the bluffs of the lake, but by the weekend, most had deposited the extra water into Lake Superior and had receded to normal levels. With a late spring and near drought conditions throughout the region, the rain was more than welcome. The possibilities of more rain during the next week and lower temperatures promise an even later spring for many areas.
Hiking Grand Portage State Park and Devils Kettle in Minnesota
Hiking Grand Portage State Park in Minnesota's northshore for a family hiking adventure. Our first stop was Grand Portage State Park then on to Judge Magney State Park and the Devils Kettle. Hiking in the misty rain in October was less than ideal. But any hiking to see fall colors is worth it regardless of the weather.
