Puerto Natales in Patagonia Chile
Puerto Natales is a port city on the Señoret Channel in Chile’s southern Patagonia. It’s the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park to the northwest, and the port for boats touring the Patagonian fjords. The Municipal Historical Museum in the city center exhibits artifacts from the region’s indigenous population. To the north is the vast Mylodon Cave, once inhabited by prehistoric, slothlike mylodons.

We cross over the border and head to Chile. This is an endless wild field, this is Patagonia. Puerto Natales, a beautiful European-style building, once flourished as a port city. It is now a tourist city with Torres del Paine and is more known as an outpost for travelers to the Pyrenees. There is one animal animal statue in front of the building. It is an extinct animal milordone found in the form of a mummy in the local cave. A small city overlooking the whole neighborhood at a glance. If you get off the city a little, you can see the time seems to stop. There is a letter and a camera on the side of the lake. The passing lover looks at me and asks me to shoot. The background is not clear due to cloudy weather. I came here today after a sleet in Santiago Chile to travel to Patagonia. There is a strange figure standing on the lake beside it. Looks like flying in the sky. Puerto Natales winds up at a tremendous speed in the summer. At a speed of 100 km / h or more, there is a lot of wind. The difference in atmospheric pressure is so great that hot air and cold air collide, causing a huge speed wind. This monument symbolizes Puerto Natales, especially the windy summer of Puerto Natales, because the cold air created by the surrounding glaciers comes down to the plains.

The glacier lakes prompted the observatory to take a good view of the lake. I crossed over the mountain and headed towards Torres ... ~ Torres del Pyren !!! I met the trekkers. What kind of life did you see here? There is a lake called 'Pingo Lake' in a wonderful forest here, and the waterfall called 'Salto Grande' is beautiful between two lakes. If you go to the west side of the park, you can see animals like Kwanako. Yesterday we saw three pumas. There are many opportunities to see foxes, armadillos and skunks. Go once. Torres del Paine Torres del Paine Park attracts tourists from around the world. It is finally the Gray Glacier Observatory. I finally arrived at the Gray Glacier Observatory. It is a beautiful place to see the Gray Lake and the glacier. I can see the glacier about 14km. It is not visible here. Here the glaciers look like small pieces. Go up to the observation deck and look down on the glacial lake. A pristine lake and mountain peaks, and an ice cap. Was not this what the beginning was like? The sunshine that the cloud is pulled up hits the drift ice and shines brilliantly. It is a bright emerald light. The weather was fully open, and a movie scene appeared. The towering peaks above the clear lake like a mirror clearly show its magnificence. It is a clean landscape that looks cool even if you look at it. A vulture sits on a high rock. A new condor called the legend spreads its wings and boasts a majestic use. This time, one of the Big Five of Torres del Paine, the guano, similar to the deer, lives in the wild. In the background of the snowy mountains, the grape picks up the illusion of a mysterious paradise.

10. La Serena
This northern Chilean town is the second oldest in the nation. It boasts a city full of lovely architecture and a warm golden beach. La Serena has a reputation as an intellectual town, and has a number of great sights that fit this description, like an archaeological museum and astronomical observatory. Outdoor enthusiasts will love to bike through the Elqui Valley, swim, snorkel, dive and/or hike through Isla Damas, and visit the national park at Fray Jorge.
9. Santiago
The capital city is the political and cultural heart of Chile. From the high mountain views of the Cerro San Cristobal Park to the secluded history of poet Pablo Neruda’s writing retreat, there is much to see in Santiago. Top picks include skiing Valle Nevado or Portillo, wine tasting at Vina Aquitania, or visits to one of several top museums like Museo Chile de Arte Precolumbio or Museo de la Moda. For those who don’t want to spend all of their time in the city, there are amazing hiking opportunities like the steep slopes of Cajon de Maipo.
8. Chiloe Island
Chiloé Island is the largest island of the Chiloé Archipelago in the Los Lagos Region and the second-largest island in South America after Tierra del Fuego. In part because of its physical isolation from the rest of Chile, Chiloé has a very special architecture and local culture.
7. Iquique
This beautiful beach and casino town offers a vibrant boardwalk and gorgeous 19th century Georgian architecture like the Aztoreca Palace. Iquique is the Monte Carlo of Chile, and has much to offer for anyone who loves free-spirited fun. During the day, guests here can participate in world-famous surfing waves, paraglide or sand-board on the golden coast.
6. Chilean Fjords
The southern coast of Chile presents a large number of fjords and channels that provide the only access to this part of Patagonia. Sailing through this region can be an unforgettable experience. Most of the trips start from Puerto Montt and travel towards Carretera Austral, Laguna San Rafael and Puerto Natales.
5. Valparaiso
This hard-working economic port town on the coast of Central Chile was loved by the poet Pablo Neruda for its beautiful chaos. It boasts some of the first urban innovations in Latin America, like the first volunteer fire department. In addition to its working class roots, Valparaiso has a reputation for an underground street art movement.
4. Chilean Lake District
This long, lush volcanic valley region stretches from Puerto Montt in the South to Temuco in the North. It is home to dense forests, crystal-clear lakes, and snowcapped volcanoes. Before the introduction of Europeans, the lake district was thickly forested, and inhabited by the Mapuche, one of the few South American tribes to avoid being swallowed into the Incan nations.
3. San Pedro de Atacama
Popular among Chilean tourists and international visitors alike, this is one of the most visited places in Chile. San Pedro de Atacama is a town on the edge of one of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes. Austere, endless flood and salt plains surrounded by coppery mountains are plentiful, and have to be seen to be believed.
2. Torres del Paine
The “towers of blue” national park constitutes a glaciated region on the Southern tip of Chile. Three large pillars in the park give it its name, and it is also home to a number of “horns”, or other mountains, and glaciated lakes. Exploration through this park can be done via mini van tours, multi-day treks, or catamaran trips. There are a few services who will also offer horseback tours to some of the sites.
1. Easter Island
Located more than 3,500 km (2,000 miles) form central Chile, Easter Island continues to be one of the world’s great mysteries. This treeless island of hundreds of giant, hollow-eyed statues carved by its Polynesian visitors is an eerie yet beautiful example of human artistry and achievement.

Mylodon Cave attests to existence of pre-historic sloths in Chile
The Mylodon statue in front of the cave in Patagonia in southern Chile today keeps telling visitors the stories 2 million years ago, when the 10-feet-long sloth-alike creature made its living here on plants.
The Mylodon Cave became known to the world in 1895 when settlers came and found skin and tooth that attested to the 500-pound furry animal’s existence.
Numerous scientific expeditions ensued, while looters followed to dig in the cave for debris to be sold to collectors and museums mainly in Europe.
In 1968, this area was declared a historical site by the Ministry of Education of Chile. In 1993, it was named the Mylodon Cave Natural Monument and enlisted to the state's Protected Areas System.
For its archaeological value and the surrounding scenery, the cave has become a hot sight-seeing spot and even a must stop for tourists flocking to the Torres del Paine National Park just 60 kilometers away.
Kakadu National Park, Australia
A UN World-Heritage listed site and Australia's largest National Park, Kakadu is home to a unique culture, history and environment. This is a short clip from a one day tour. A drained camera battery prevents this clip from doing the area true justice. But I hope this provides a taster. Soundtrack used with permission of Spirit of the Land.
A HUGE week in Ushuaia! Argentina MUKBANG of our meals
We had a fantastic time in Ushuaia eating delicious and HUGE king crab, visiting the Martial Glacier, the Emerald Lake, the amazing historic prison museum PLUS heaps of nice food at restaurants.
This video, however, is all about what we ate at home. We love cooking at home as we travel as it lets us eat food from home (Korea and New Zealand) and it's much cheaper.
In this video we spend time in our amazing AirBnb accomodation where we eat/drink:
- Homemade kalguksu (hand cut noodles - 칼국수);
- Homemade beef daikon radish soup (소고기 무국);
- A huge amount or yerba mate;
- Many bottles of Malbec wine;
- Empanadas! So many empanadas.. (and chicken!); and

Who are we?
We are Tom and Yenny, two New Zealand young professionals who have quit our job and are learning Spanish as we travel through South America! We always like to travel on a budget so please subscribe to see all the places we go and all of our stingy ways of going there!
We love cooking, checking out new places, trying new types of food, beer and wine, camping, and anything else that we haven't tried (outrageous weird foods included!).
Where are we going?
We're travelling throughout every South American country that speaks Spanish and (if we have money left!) heading up to Central America too!
We would LOVE to hear from you about your experiences in South America, your travel experiences or any other tips or thoughts! Please make sure to comment if you've got anything you think we should do while we're here.
