Photographing Prague - Moments In Time Ep 10
With stunning classic, baroque, rococo, and gothic architecture, Prague is as beautiful as it is historic, and it’s also one of the best cities in Europe for photography. Since it’s such an amazing place to visit, Prague also attracts an incredible amount of tourists that can make getting certain shots very difficult. In this episode, we navigate the old streets and buildings looking for the best light, while learning how to best avoid the crowds.
I meet up with my friend and talented conceptual photographer and artist, Erik Johansson, as he takes us on a tour of his studio and walks us through his incredible creative process from the conceptual side all the way through production and final digital editing. His work is truly surreal and it’s an amazing experience to get a full demonstration of his workflow.
During this episode, we pay a visit to Centrum PhotoSkoda, one of the largest and most impressive camera stores in Europe. The owners Milan and Martin Skoda, take us on a tour of both the modern and the historic as we visit the museum and learn about Prague’s rich history and photographic legacy.
In this Moments in Time series, we take a journey around the world together, and share about photography, travel, people, food, experiences, and everything that happens between the frames I capture. Join our Moments in Time Flickr community for access to two exclusive mini episodes, and new episodes will be published here on YouTube every Tuesday morning.

Reflections on Puppetry and Technology in Prague
This video is a reflection on the role of puppetry contra the suffocating aspects of the screen in everyday life. Puppets remind us to touch the world not just watch it through an aquarium window. We have bits of interviews from Kateřina Lešková Dolenská, Editor-In-Chief of Loutkář (the Czech word for puppeteer), the longest running puppetry magazine in the world. Also with two Czech puppet directors Michaela Homolová and Jana Vyšohlídová. As well as a visit to Czech puppet carver and teacher Mirek Trejtnar. For the full story please visit our site, Gravity From Above.

25 BIZARRE STATUES
Statues are proudly displayed in cities and towns around the world. The structures serve to commemorate an event or person. Other times, they are simply their own work of art. It’s no wonder we often look for these sculptures to admire and photograph when travelling. It seems that in the world of statues anything goes.
From a pair of skeletons embracing in Thailand to a gigantic popsicle in Washington, whatever the mind imagines can be brought to life on a large scale. Many are straight-forward interpretations while others are left for us to figure them out on our own. Here are 25 unusual statues around the globe. I totally understand #4 from Venice, Italy.
#1. Seen in Sala Keoku, Thailand.
#2. A promotional statue in London, England.
#3. Gravity for the elephant in Paris, France.
#4. Coffee in Venice, Italy.
#5. A large birdman in Hanover, Germany.
#6. Breaking through in Montmartre, Paris, France.
#7. A dog marking his territory at the Orange County Museum of Art, California.

Personal Travel: Prague, Czech Republic (2016)
This is our 2nd trip to Prague. Love coming back here! :)
Trdelník is a traditional cake and sweet pastry. It is made from rolled dough that is wrapped around a stick, then grilled and topped with sugar and walnut mix.
Trdelník is found in several Central European countries, most prominently Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia & Hungary (where it is known to come from the Hungarian-speaking part of Transylvania, Romania). The word trdelník is of Czech or Slovak origin.
Founded in 1232, the Klementinum in Prague is the largest and most historic complex of buildings in the Old Town. It covers an area of over two hectares close to the Vltava River, near Charles Bridge. The Klementinum has undergone a rich architectural evolution. Since the Middle Ages many of Europe's great astronomers, scientists, philosophers and musicians have studied and worked here, influencing the development of its wonderful array of buildings.
The Astronomical Tower: 172 steps lead to the top of the tower for 360° views over Prague. A lift operates only part of the way, so not for visitors with walking difficulties. On the 2nd floor of the tower is the Meridian Hall, which was designed to determine noon.
Baroque Library Hall: stunning home of the Czech National Library, housing 20,000 books from the early 17th century onwards. The hall is decorated with magnificent ceiling frescoes, and remains unaltered since the 18th century.
The Žižkov Television Tower (Czech: Žižkovský vysílaè) is a unique transmitter tower built in Prague between 1985 and 1992. Designed by the architect Václav Aulický and the structural engineer Jiøí Kozák. It stands high above the city's traditional skyline from its position on top of a hill in the district of Žižkov, from which it takes its name. The tower is an example of high-tech architecture.
The Absintherie Bar and Museum was opened several years ago, with the aim to introduce not only the taste of quality absinthe but also the correct way of its serving. Many people still believe that absinthe is something dangerous and forbidden. However, nowadays, absinthe is known as premium kind of spirits, produced as pure herbs distillate. This is why all the rumours that absinthe must be green and drinking it will bring you strange sensations are just myths.
And so our Prague Underground Tour Begins.....
Old Town Square at night - just beautiful!
Our Tour guide was explaining the history of the Astronomical Clock
If you enjoyed watching it, please give it a thumbs up! It will mean a lot to me. :)
