A Tour of Hobart CBD, March 2019
On my second trip to Hobart and Tasmania in general, I delve into the compact central business in more detail. Beginning at the visitor's centre on the corner of Elizabeth and Davey St, we explore Elizabeth St Mall, and walk along various inner city streets such as Macquarie, Collins and Murray St, go through Salamanca Place, the waterfront area, and the old warehouse district around Hunter Place. Hobart is a small city that's big on charm, and has preserved more historic buildings per capita than any other Australian capital. A walkable city that's a joy to explore.

HMAS Hobart is visiting her namesake city for the first time with a busy schedule of activities over the Royal Hobart Regatta long weekend.
Over 180 officers and sailors from HMAS Hobart marched to Town Hall to exercise their right to Freedom of Entry to the city. HMAS Hobart opened her hatches to the public during an open day at Princes Wharf with the local community invited to step aboard Australia’s newest warship. Members of Hobart’s ship’s company will also compete in the 180th Royal Hobart Regatta and the Trans Derwent Swim as well as host a number of local community groups and dignitaries during the port visit.

Prof Gillian Triggs - 7th Hobart Oration
On 30th March 2017, Prof Gillian Triggs gave the 7th Hobart Oration in Hobart's Town Hall. Despite a concerted campaign by the Daily Telegraph and assorted right-wing commentators and politicians to have the event cancelled, it sold-out and Prof Triggs' speech, both searing and inspiring, received a standing ovation from a packed Town Hall audience.
