Christmas 2012 Vacation - Part 1: Mojave National Preserve
On December 22, 2012, my wife and I went on a camping adventure in the Mojave National Preserve in California USA, the Grand Canyon Arizona, and Dead Horse State Park in Cottonwood, Arizona. The first day, we drove about 500 miles from San Jose to the Mojave National Preserve and car-camped at Hole In The Wall Campground near the preserve's information center. We drove the preserve the next day, driving about 100 miles in the process on Black Canyon Road, Wildhorse Canyon Road, Cedar Canyon Road, Kelso Cima Road, Kelso Dunes Road, Kelbaker Road, Interstate 40, and Essex Road. Sights included the Midhills Campground, the Kelso Depot and Beanery Deli, as well as the 700 foot high Kelso Dunes.
The Mojave National Preserve is a stunning geological area, particularly when it is not 115 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade. The National Park Service's Ranger staff is superb and give wonderful talks during the preserve's busy (cool weather) season. See the closing credits for the names of the staff that spent time with us explaining the area.
We found the campgrounds simply great and nearly empty in late December. The dirt roads had been recently plowed because of massive flash-flood damage a few weeks before - a storm dumped four inches of rain in an hour. Hence the roads were smoother and less wash-boarded (but still easily drive-able at 20 miles per hour and not requiring four-wheel drive) than I have previously seen them.
Mojave Desert National Preserve California
A visit to Mojave National Preserve, California. Singing sand dunes, volcanic cinder cones, Joshua tree forests, and carpets of wildflowers are all found at this 1.6 million acre park. A visit to its canyons, mountains and mesas will reveal long-abandoned mines, homesteads, and rock-walled military outposts. Located between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Mojave provides serenity and solitude from major metropolitan areas.
Mojave National Preserve is a United States National Preserve located in the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, California, USA, between Interstate 15 and Interstate 40. The preserve was established October 31, 1994 with the passage of the California Desert Protection Act by the US Congress.[3] Previously, it was the East Mojave National Scenic Area, under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management.[4] Mojave National Preserve is vast. At 1,600,000 acres (650,000 ha), it is the third largest unit of the National Park System in the contiguous United States.
Natural features include the Kelso Dunes, the Marl Mountains and the Cima Dome, as well as volcanic formations such as Hole-in-the-Wall and the Cinder Cone Lava Beds. The preserve encloses Providence Mountains State Recreation Area and Mitchell Caverns Natural Preserve, which are both managed by the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
Impressive Joshua Tree forests cover parts of the preserve. The Cima Dome and Shadow Valley forests are the largest in the world.[5] The defunct railroad depot and ghost town of Kelso are also found there. The depot is now the visitor center. The preserve is commonly traversed by 4 wheel drive vehicles traveling on the historic Mojave Road.
The climate varies greatly. Summer temperatures average 90 °F (32 °C), with highs exceeding 105 °F (41 °C). Elevations in the Preserve range from 7,929 feet (2,417 m) at Clark Mountain to 880 feet (270 m) near Baker. Annual precipitation varies from 3.37 inches (86 mm) near Baker, to almost 9 inches (230 mm) in the mountains. At least 25% of precipitation comes from summer thunderstorms. Snow is often found in the mountains during the winter.

Nevada's Devils Hole - Portal to an Underworld Area 51- Las Vegas
Nevada's Devils Hole - Portal to an underworld
Legends and mysteries attached to this place are both creepy and fascinating at the same time. One tragic event happened in 1955 when a group a friends decided to take a quick swim and dive in it's warm waters, 2 of the friends never came back up, a search team was quickly dispatched to try and find the boys, the rescue divers went as deep as 315 feet but all they managed to find were the boys snorkels and a fading flashlight that belonged to the swimmers. The bodies were never recovered and they were never seen again.
The Paiute Indians believed that this hole was a portal and entrance to an underworld called Shinauav and it was considered a forbidden place to swim by any of their people. One of their legends states that a maiden once fell into the hole and was immediately dragged underwater only to reaper a few days later on another nearby spring. For centuries Native Americans that lived in the area have reported seeing flying objects around the spring only to disappear underground into the lake.
There are many conspiracy theorists that believe that the hole is actually the entrance to an underground Alien base, so it was no surprise that when Charles Manson heard of these stories he immediately became interested and decided to go find it for himself. Manson roamed through Death valley for days trying to find it until he did. Near Area 51

WARNING *DISTURBING* Wait Until YOU See What I Found In an Abandoned Building In Middle Of Nowhere
We thought we were going to explore a boring, empty abandoned telephone relay building, but what we got was much more than we ever wanted.
PART 2 UPDATE:
This video was the hardest video we have ever had to edit. We wanted to take you there with us so you could feel what we felt as we unlocked the riddle as to whose stuff this was.
We also had to do a lot of soul searching when deciding what to include in the video. We wanted to do the right thing by the family, and also show how Jeff was a good guy who loved his family, but mental illness took him away.
His wife tried to get Jeff help and had him committed successfully, but each time he was released by the mental health facilities.
I hope you enjoy this video.

Emerald Pools South Yuba River low and slow drone tour July 2019 CA - HD 4K
The South Fork of the Yuba River has beautiful pools of clear water pouring over huge granite boulders. This part of the river can be found at an area just below Lake Spaulding. This is a popular hiking area with numerous swimming holes. This is a popular destination during the warmer months when the water flow is slow and warm. All of this area is very rugged, requiring caution and good foot wear. There is private land in the area so watch for signs.
I had to get up early and get there before all of the hikers and swimmers. Unfortunately, the lighting was not perfect, but I had to do with what I was given. It is much better to not have a bunch of people in the shot.
Due to the deep canyon walls I had to fly without much help from GPS, so some of the footage is a little rough. I had to stay out of the trees and still get a good view of the water. In the end all is good, and a great morning in the outdoors.

EXPLORING THE GREAT CINDER CONE ARRAY / MOJAVE DESERT
Go south across the freeway bridge in beautiful downtown Baker California. head towards the Kelso whistle Stop. At the 19 (Give or Take) mile mark, bang a left on the trail that you'll see there. You will be in the cinder cone area within minutes. As many as thirty of these giants await you. Cinder cones are different then volcano's in that the lava spews out of the base of the mountain. This trail will lead you all the way to Interstate 15 about 50 miles out of Lost Wages. The trail itself was 20 miles long, I believe. No airing down or trail bosses needed, unless of course you can't live without them. Two giant cinder mines are back here in which this is one of them. Also, the largest concentration of Joshua trees in the world are here along this trail. If Joshua's are your thing this is the place.

These ancient American relics remain unexplained.
A centuries-old stone wall, stretching for miles; enormous pictures scratched into the ground of a desert; rocks arranged in a circle. You know what these landmarks are, right?
Guess again. Instead of the Great Wall of China or Stonehenge, these are all ancient American ruins and landmarks. The United States is a relative newcomer to the world stage, but there have been people long living on this continent, and they’ve left traces of their presence just as mysterious as those found in other countries.
