Cape Willoughby Light relit
The Old Cape Willoughby Light at Hope Cottage Museum, Kingscote, Kangaroo Island. Originally installed on Tiparra Reef in 1872, moved to Cape Willoughby fifty years later where it worked until the early 1970s'. Then destined for demolition the beautiful Chance Brothers Light was saved and restored by the National Trust of South Australia Kangaroo Island Branch, moved to Kingscote and installed on a new tower. It is now proudly celebrating Christmas with its own modest light display.
Thanks to Harold Budd and Brian Eno.

Kangaroo Island, South Australia
AA Kangaroo Island is Australia's third largest island - after Tasmania and Melville Island. It is 112 kilometres southwest of Adelaide at the entrance of Gulf Saint Vincent. At its closest point to the mainland, it is 13 kilometres offshore from Cape Jervis, on the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula in the state of South Australia. The island is 145 km long and between 900 m and 57 km wide, its area covering 4 405 km². About 4,100 inhabitants live on the island, 1,400 of them in Kingscote in 1991. The economy is mostly agricultural (wine, honey, wool, meat and grain). Besides this tourism and fishing play a role. More than half of the island has never been cleared of vegetation. About 1/3 is conserved in National and Conservation Parks, including five Wilderness Protection Areas. The main protected areas are:
Flinders Chase National Park
Seal Bay Conservation Park
Cape Gantheaume Wilderness Protection Area
Cape Bouguer Wilderness Protection Area
Ravine des Casoars Wilderness Protection Area
Because of its isolation from mainland Australia, foxes and rabbits are absent from the island. The Kangaroo Island Kangaroo, Tammar Wallaby, Common Brushtail Possum, Short-beaked Echidna and New Zealand Fur Seal are native to the island, as well as six bat and frog species. The Koala, Common Ringtail Possum and Platypus have been introduced and still survive there. Wikipedia

Taryn & Martin | Fireworks
Situated amongst the rolling hills of Kingscote and under a warm March sun, Tayrn and Martin made their vows and were pronounced husband and wife. Without a single white cloud spoiling the seemingly endless light blue sky, this was the perfect day for Kingscote Barn to have their first outdoor ceremony of year.
Soon after we arrived on site to begin filming preparations, we found out that earlier that morning Kingscote Barn had their first lamb of the year born. Surely this was a sign of good things to come for the soon-to-be newly weds. Tayrn made her preparations surrounded by her bridal party which included her mum and grandmother. It was special to capture the three ladies of three generations sharing this special day together. Martin, who was getting ready down the road at the pretty Wells Cottage, was enjoying a relaxed start to the day with his groomsman providing a fun and light-hearted atmosphere.
After Tayrn and Martin made their vows and promises to each other they were happily pronounced husband and wife and celebrated the start of this new chapter in a shower of confetti. Moments later, they enjoyed a well deserved glass of fizz and were able to greet their guests under the summer-esque weather.
It was a pleasure working alongside the very talented John Hope Photography and together we captured some beautiful portrait shots. Although it has to be said, Taryn and Martin made it very easy for us!
The wedding breakfast soon followed and all three speeches made from Sarah, Martin and Matthew captivated the room in their own individual ways.
A wonderful day, thank you so very much for allowing us to capture it for you. Congratulations to Taryn and Martin on a fantastic wedding at the ever-beautiful Kingscote Barn.

Hop to Safety: Protecting Aussie 'Roos
• AW945; Aired on 16 Apr 2009
This documentary describes compassionate rescue work by Steve and Rosemary Garlick, on the Sunshine Coast Queensland, Australia. The couple were moved by the plight of animals injured on the roads, and eventually gave over their cottage to the care of animals such as kangaroos. They tell of the complex social structure and affectionate, emotional, nature of the Kangaroo, the nation's national animal, a marsupial which can reach up to 2 metes in height.

Cape Willoughby Light, brilliant engineering.
The old cape Willoughby light at Hope Cottage Museum, Kingscote, Kangaroo Island. The Chance Brothers Light manufactured in the 1860s', wonderfully engineered. To make something as precise as this, weighing over two tons, is brilliant. Watch the circular bar as it rotates through the supporting eyes, all done without computer modelling. This mechanism has been in three locations in its lifetime, hopefully this is the last.
