This heritage building was once the palace of the second Sultan of Zanzibar, Barghash bin Said. It was constructed in 1883 and was the first building in Zanzibar to have electricity.

The House of Wonders or Palace of Wonders (in Arabic: Beit-al-Ajaib) is a landmark building in Stone Town, Zanzibar. It is the largest and tallest building of Stone Town and occupies a prominent place facing the Forodhani Gardens on the old town's seafront, in Mizingani Road. It is located between the Old Fort and the Palace Museum (and former Sultan's Palace).

The palace was built in 1883 for Barghash bin Said, second Sultan of Zanzibar. It was intended as a ceremonial palace and official reception hall, celebrating modernity, and it was named House of Wonders because it was the first building in Zanzibar to have electricity, and also the first building in East Africa to have an elevator.
The House of Wonders Museum, inaugurated in the early 2000's has permanent exhibits on aspects of the Swahili and Zanzibari culture as well as the East African environment.

The House of Wonders, called Beit al-Ajaib in Arabic, is an old style magnificent and imposing building of 19th century, built around 1883 as ceremonial palace for Sultan Barghash bin Said, the second Sultan of Zanzibar (then called Zanjibar). It was called House of Wonders because it was the first building in East Africa to have electricity and an elevator. It is the largest and tallest building of Zanzibar, located on the seafront of Stone Town on Mizingini Road which is home to most important historical attractions of Zanzibar. It is situated just in front of Forodhani Gardens and in between two other histoical landmarks of Zanzibar, namely the Arab Fort and Palace Museum. It also served as British Secretariat during British occupancy. Currently the Museum of History and Culture is located in this magnificent building.

The Sultan's Palace ( Beit el-Sahel), is one of the main historical buildings of Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania. It is a 3-story building with merlon-decorated white walls, located in Mizingani Road, on the seafront, between the House of Wonders and the Old Dispensary.
The palace was built in late 19th century to serve as a residence for the Sultan's family. After the Zanzibar Revolution, in 1964 it was formally renamed to People's Palace and used as a government seat. In 1994, it became a museum about the Zanzibari royal family and history.
One floor of the museum is dedicated to Sultan Khalifa bin Harub; another one to Sayyida Salme, best known as Emily Ruete, former Zanzibari princess who fled from the sultanate to relocate in Europe with her husband; the exhibits include some of her writings, clothes and daily life accessories.

Tatzi Tatz hat sich in Sansibar mit einer Nashorn-Dame angefreundet. Er nennt sie liebevoll „seine Prinzessin“.
Die Prinzessin ist ein wenig größer als Tatzi.
Trotzdem besteht Tatzi darauf, dass seine Freundin mit ihm nach Hause in den Erlebnis-Zoo Hannover kommt!
