How Hill Nature Reserve in Norfolk England
How Hill Nature Reserve is a great place to explore the Norfolk Broads. We took the Electric Eel boat tour on the Broads and then did the How Hill Nature Walk stopping at the How Hill Secret Gardens along the way. I enjoyed seeing the wildlife, especially some of the rare Norfolk Broads birds. It was a nice way to spend an afternoon on the Broads.

Paint Out Norfolk - How Hill
This episode takes us to How Hill. How Hill lies on the River Ant within The Broads National Park in Ludham, Norfolk, England. It was the family home of Christopher Boardman who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics, winning gold in sailing. As gold medallist he was presented with an oak sapling which he planted at How Hill.
How Hill House is located within the grounds of the Broads National Park and houses the Norfolk Broads Study Centre, an independent charitable organisation which runs residential environmental courses for groups of schoolchildren. The How Hill Nature Reserve is administered by the Broads Authority.
Toad Hole Museum is a former marshman's cottage and also houses the Broads Information Centre.

Ludham air field control tower
The air field was restored in 2001, but let go to how it is today.
Ludham airfield was constructed as a grass surface airfield for RAF Coltishall. Flying commenced in 1941, used as a forward base for Fighter Command and it was used by a number of RAF squadrons. For a short time the site was used by the 602nd and 603rd squadrons from Coltishall. The airfield was closed in April 1946.
The video was made using a 808 / 16 camera and a SK450 Quadcopter and APM controller , Yes I have new carbon props on order should help with the Jello on the film

It was a lovely afternoon last Summer, decided to rekindle old memories of a Camping trip of when I was at Sprowston Secondary School and went on a Sailing Holiday with our Art Teacher Johnny Johnston & Harry Bull, who was the P.E. Teacher, they were great friends, and taught us lads all the tips and tricks of Sailing and Canoeing.
Memories came flooding back to me of the very early morning we let the Art teachers tent down ,as he lay asleep inside !.
He chased all of us lads around the field at How Hill. obviously never caught us though!.
What great times we had as school kids back in the late 60s !!.
To think that we used to go down to swim in the River there (for our early morning bath) !. You would get run over by a cruiser these days!!

What a beautiful Thatched Roof House, set in beautiful Gardens.
An ideal place to spend a summers afternoon with the Family.

A Walk Round the former RAF Ludham Airfield
A walk round the remains of the former RAF Ludham Airfield led by William Buck. Here we see members of the Ludham Community Archive Group and their guests enjoying the walk and hearing about the many events and incidents which happened at RAF Ludham during WWII.
This was June 2018 and almost 100 people turned up for the walk which is a lot more than we usually get at Archive events.
The talk starts in Ludham Methodist Chapel and then sets out for the airfield.

Boating Norfolk Broads - Hunters Yard Trust in Ludham
In October 2011 the Boating Norfolk Broads team decided to record some footage at Hunters Yard in Ludham.
The Trust maintains a fleet of wooden sailing yachts from the 1930s and in this video we try and capture some of the magic of the boats.
The only regret we have is that this video was shot at the end of the season and therefore most of the boats are covered up or stripped down ready for repairs over the winter.

Roe Deer group of stags on Ludham Marshes Norfolk Broads national Park May 2017
We caught this group of young male roe deer on the open marshes between Ludham (Womack staite and Ludham dyke in the background) early one morning in May 2017. The cows who have only recently been turned out onto the marshes were very interested in the deer, who kept well away from us with 4 dogs on the river side footpath. High water levels in the dyke system restricted the deer from leaving towards the footpath.
