Humboldt Lagoons State Park: Stone Lagoon
From parks.ca.gov:
Humboldt Lagoons State Park lies on the sandy, windswept edge of ocean and forest. Formed by the clash of two tectonic plates, it’s part of the largest lagoon system in the United States. Ranger Maurice Morningstar calls it “a string of pearls that lets you look back in time and see a process that continues today.”
Forty miles north of Eureka, the park includes Big Lagoon, Stone Lagoon, and Freshwater Lagoon, as well as Dry Lagoon, which is now a marsh, bordered by dunes, forests, prairies, and coastal scrub. With such varied habitats, wildlife thrives. On a single visit, you can see whales and elk, trout and salmon, pelicans and woodpeckers.
Visitors can hike the California Coastal Trail and paddle, swim, and fish at the lagoons. There’s even a paddle-in and hike-in campground in the forest at Ryan’s Cove—and kayaks and paddleboards for rent at Stone Lagoon Visitor Center. In May or early June, take a short drive up Stagecoach Hill to see the blaze of color along Azalea Nature Trail.
In the early 1900s, Dry Lagoon was drained by early farmers; several types of crops were attempted but none proved economical. Several dairy ranches were established along the shores of Stone Lagoon.
Later when the highway was improved, a motel-restaurant called the Little Red Hen was located next to the lagoon. This business continued in operation until 1979. The restaurant building was remodeled into a museum and park office, now the Stone Lagoons Visitor Center, run by Kayak Zak's concession.
Today the marshland habitat has returned to support a rich variety of marsh plants, birds, and other animals. The park offers boating, fishing, and hiking with day-use only picnic areas near the visitor center.
Bring your own boat or rent one to enjoy exploring the lagoon. At the beach, you have access to six miles of bird watching or whale watching.

King Tide, Stone Lagoon, Humboldt, Time Lapse, Dec 24 2011
This is a view of the breach site at Stone Lagoon in Humboldt County, California during the king tides of December 24, 2011. The swell was from the WNW 9-11 feet at 13-15 seconds, and the tide was +8.3, which is the highest predicted tide of the year. The time lapse segment was taken between 10:10AM and 10:33AM Pacific Standard Time, and is shown at 20X. We were curious about what would happen at the lagoon, but it was kind of anticlimactic. The larger sets washed over the breach site, but only just enough to reach the lagoon. The surf did not reach the parking area and did not wash over any other part of the spit.

Patricks Point State Park
This California State Park is possibly one of the best camping spots if you like dramatic ocean vistas. It is in Northern California in Humboldt County. The beach is called Agate Beach as it is common for people to walk the shoreline and find beautiful agate stones at the surf line. The park setting and stone grotto is ideal for weddings and other special occasions. The campsites are very private, other than the abundant wildlife (Steller's Jays were everywhere) but there is no electricity, wi-fi or showers available and the nightly rate with a small senior discount was still a hefty $33 a night. Still a very beautiful and quiet place to spend the night.
Humboldt State University (HSU)
Humboldt State University Campus Tour (Virtual Tour)
Humboldt State University (HSU) or Humboldt State, also occasionally referred to as Humboldt, is the northernmost campus of the 23-school California State University (CSU) system, located in Arcata, Humboldt County, California, United States.
In addition to the main campus, HSU has multiple off-campus facilities and education-related properties, including an ocean-side marine biology research center, a wildlife care facility, a public natural history museum, a public art gallery, a bay-side aquatics facility, a mountain-top astronomy observatory, an ocean-going marine research and teaching vessel, and a demonstration forest.
Humboldt State University is one of the 123 colleges named a Best Western College by The Princeton Review. HSU is one of the colleges profiled in The Princeton Review's book, Colleges with a Conscience: 81 Great Schools with Outstanding Community Involvement. The school was selected because of its record of having excellent service-learning programs and its blending of academics with community work.
Big Lagoon Beach county of Humboldt in the State of California United States of America
Big Lagoon Beach county of Humboldt. The view is beautiful and almost unforgettable a must visit for those of you who wish to get away on a vacation. Very private and secluded, many trees, nature is unpampered with as opposed to the beaches or coast near the Mexico boarder.
Great investor opportunities for those who understand the ropes of the game, on a budget. Cash Money! It's called Real-Estate ladies. ????????????????
Come and retire over to this location purchase a house on a few acres, for less than 1,000,000.00 Deal if you ask me. Sell off your property especially in a highly buyer seeking area and live privately without all the Parking issues, Traffic Jams, and other overly expensive expenses like Property Taxes, food, gas, store bags, etc.
This is simply the place to be, totally awesome! ????

The Lost Coast | A Hidden Beauty
Please Watch In HD
Since moving out to the northernmost corner of the California coast, I have been taken aback by its unmatched beauty. I am constantly in awe of the natural landscape of this remote and often overlooked part of California. Equipped with my camera, I have attempted to capture some of the sights that have me claiming this as the most beautiful place I have ever lived. Since July, I have hiked, driven and explored Del Norte and Humboldt Counties, spending my days wandering through and capturing the woods and beaches of NorCal.

At this point we continued east until the Dalles and then headed South through Bend, Crater Lake, Lake Tahoe and eventually ended up in the one and only - Yosemite National Park.
