The Best and Cheap Winery Tours Yarra Valley Melbourne Australia
We know why you are here visiting Melbourne, it's a great region to explore for sightseeing, things to do, eat and drink. Did you know when you are experiencing Melbourne, Australia it is not complete without a day trip to the Yarra Valley or Mornington Peninsula for winery tours - taste local and award-winning wines, cheese and chocolates in the region.
In this quick video, I managed to capture a few clips on my adventure to the Yarra Valley so you can see for yourself why this region is a most to explore for the day. I am a local tour guide based in Bundoora, just north of Melbourne CBD.
Visiting Boutique Wineries
I like to mix in boutique wineries in the region to appreciate family business that has been operating for generations. I prefer the rustic and unique experiences a small vineyard can offer in comparing to the large and commercial vineyards. There is no rush and we can take our time and truly experience their wines. That's what wine tasting should be.
The first winery I visited is at Morgan's Vineyard in Seville, great little winery well known for its boutique wines and cheese. They worked with a local cheese artisan to combine their wine with cheese tasting - it's the perfection of both worlds. They have a little animal farm where you can explore their vineyard, soak in the atmosphere under the sun.

Meet the McGuigans - Australian Wine Makers in Hunter Valley Winery
We meet the team behind the prestigious McGuigan Wines in Australia's Hunter Valley. Find their wines in our range of Australian Wines always available at
Neil: Hi, I'm Neil McGuigan. I run the vineyards, the wineries, and the wine making for McGuigan wines. The McGuigan family has been in the wine industry for a long time. Our great-grandfather was involved in the wine industry back in the last 1880's. Then really we started to get into wine making with my father, and that was in the early '40's when Dad was a winemaker for one of the major companies here in the valley. Then he started his own company which was called Wyndham Estate. He started that in 1968, and then my brother, Brian, joined him in 1970, and then we started the McGuigan brand in 1994.
Why we're passionate about wine. We love wine, because wine is an agricultural pursuit. It starts in the ground. You nurture a vine until it bears fruit, and then you take it from fruit into wine, and then you package it, and then you sell it. I suppose that's why we're passionate about it. It starts at the land, and finishes with the consumer, and we follow it all the way through.
Peter: Hello, my name is Peter Hall. I am McGuigan wines Senior Wine Maker at our Hunter Valley Winery. As a wine maker our main objective is actually to make the best possible wine that we can. I think that we're putting wines out there that really are a brilliant road at the cross point.
Neil: The 2010 vintage is upon us. We're about half way through across Australia. We're basically finished in the Hunter Valley, and the Semillon and the Shiraz this year have just been outstanding from the Hunter.
As we work our way across Australia the fruit from some ranges in the river land of south Australia are looking very, very good. The Barossa, we're about half way though the Barossa as well. It looks fantastic, has a big rich flavor, some reds. We're just about to start in the Adelaide Hills, and the Adelaide Hills are where we produce fantastic Sauvignon Blanc. The cool nights and the warm days we think are going to produce fantastic wines this year.
What do I like to drink? For everyday drinking, and I've got to say I like a glass of wine each day, I love our McGuigan Gray Label Chardonnay, not too much Merlot, a lovely delicate wine, lovely long palate. This is a sort of new style of Australian Chardonnay. When I'm having a meat dish, I love our Signature Barossa Valley Shiraz, beautiful wine.
Peter: The McGuigan wines had an absolutely fantastic year in the show circuit. We've won 14 trophies, 41 gold wines, 72 silver medals, and 160 bronze medals.
Neil: I think the future for McGuigan wines is very, very rosy. We have so many things happening in our wineries, and in our vineyards, which I believe will even make our wines better, and more prominent in years to come.
Find out more at where we feature various McGuigan wines such as
