A bit of fun on my local, The Hutt River which passes through a major city, most people completely oblivious to the excellent trout fishing it offers year round.
The Hutt River is unique in that it's trout tend to lie very shallow, almost with their backs out of the water. They have become oblivious to the hundreds of dogs, swimmers and 4WD's that plow through their habitat... often returning to feed minutes later!

River Route To South Ohau Hut - Tararua's Ranges NZ
Set in a river near Levin, this tramp involves walking up the Ohau River for approx 3 hours or 4 hours. It was an enjoyable splash in the river.
New Zealand Earthquake - November 14, 2016
This video was taken using the video camera that was attached to our window at home before and during the 7.8 Magnitude earthquake at Kaikoura, New Zealand.
Our location is near the Upper Hutt River at Taita, Lower Hutt, Wellington Region.
It was raining the previous days, Friday and Saturday and the morning of November 14, 2016. It became sunny and windy in the afternoon, so after going to Upper Hutt at Rivendell, we went straight to Wellington to visit Zealandia at Karori, then had a stroll at the Wellington Waterfront around 5:45pm

Off The Grid Cabin In New Zealand Paradise
Hidden amongst the spectacular mountain ranges of the Kahurangi National park of New Zealand, this beautiful off-the-grid cabin sits in paradise.

Affectionally titled the Honeywell Hut, after it's builder Jack Honeywell, the off the grid cabin, although relatively new, looks as though it could have sat on the land for a hundred years.
Being situated on such a remote property, the cabin has to be completely off the grid, collecting it's own water and generating power though a small solar system.

The Hutt River (Māori:Te Awakairangi, Te Wai o Orutu or Heretaunga) flows through the southern North Island of New Zealand. It flows south-west from the southern Tararua Range for 56 kilometres (35 mi), forming a number of fertile floodplains, including Kaitoke, central Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt.

Local Hutt River Tributary - Late season trout 2016
Went out on Anzac day for a bit of late season action before the tributaries close up for the winter. This was on a local hutt river tributary. Its amazing how awesome these kind of places are, and they are literally at our door steps. I highly doubt many people have been up to where I was and although in some spots the trout were few and far between, the scenery was just amazing. Once we found the trout got some footage etc, we only fished for two fish. Hooked and lost one. Landed one, first cast, 4lber as shown in the video. Enjoy
