Tokyo is the capital city of Japan and one of its 47 prefectures. The Greater Tokyo Area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world. It is the seat of the Emperor of Japan and the Japanese government. Tokyo is in the Kantō region on the southeastern side of the main island Honshu and includes the Izu Islands and Ogasawara Islands. Formerly known as Edo, it has been the de facto seat of government since 1603 when Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu made the city his headquarters. It officially became the capital after Emperor Meiji moved his seat to the city from the old capital of Kyoto in 1868; at that time Edo was renamed Tokyo. Tokyo Metropolis was formed in 1943 from the merger of the former Tokyo Prefecture (東京府 Tōkyō-fu) and the city of Tokyo (東京市 Tōkyō-shi).
Tokyo is often referred to as a city, but is officially known and governed as a metropolitan prefecture, which differs from and combines elements of a city and a prefecture, a characteristic unique to Tokyo. The Tokyo metropolitan government administers the 23 Special Wards of Tokyo (each governed as an individual city), which cover the area that was the City of Tokyo before it merged and became the metropolitan prefecture in 1943. The metropolitan government also administers 39 municipalities in the western part of the prefecture and the two outlying island chains. The population of the special wards is over 9 million people, with the total population of the prefecture exceeding 13 million. The prefecture is part of the world's most populous metropolitan area with upwards of 37.8 million people and the world's largest urban agglomeration economy. In 2011, the city hosted 51 of the Fortune Global 500 companies, the highest number of any city in the world, at that time. Tokyo ranked third (twice) in the International Financial Centres Development IndexEdit. The city is also home to various television networks such as Fuji TV, Tokyo MX, TV Tokyo, TV Asahi, Nippon Television, NHK and the Tokyo Broadcasting System.
Tokyo ranked first in the Global Economic Power Index and third in the Global Cities Index. The city is considered an alpha+ world city – as listed by the GaWC's 2008 inventory – and in 2014, Tokyo was ranked first in the Best overall experience category of TripAdvisor's World City Survey (the city also ranked first in the following categories: helpfulness of locals, nightlife, shopping, local public transportation and cleanliness of streets). In 2015, Tokyo was ranked as the 11th most expensive city for expatriates, according to the Mercer consulting firm, and also the world's 11th most expensive city, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit's cost-of-living survey. In 2015, Tokyo was named the Most Liveable City in the world by the magazine Monocle. The Michelin Guide has awarded Tokyo by far the most Michelin stars of any city in the world. Tokyo was ranked first out of all fifty cities in the 2015 Safe Cities Index. The 2016 edition of QS Best Student Cities ranked Tokyo as the 3rd-best city in the world to be a university student. Tokyo hosted the 1964 Summer Olympics, the 1979 G-7 summit, the 1986 G-7 summit, and the 1993 G-7 summit, and Tokyo will host the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
Yamamoto Sayaka - Taking a Deep Breath // Japanese Commercials「Japan Tabacco」90 sec.
A touching performance from two of the most well-known stars from Japan’s music world: concert pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii, who was born blind from birth, and Sayaka Yamamoto, a star member of the Japanese idol girl group NMB48.
Notice how JT refrained to use the word tabacco anywhere in this ad and more likely emphasizes on being clean product. The whole idea behind these series is to build loyalty to JT's brand and to show that they care for people and the community, and they've done it pretty well.
Music:

Ichikawa Sushi Bar & Steakhouse Edg3 Fund Proposal
We want to create an unforgettable experience, mixing fantasy and reality with reverential nods to Port Townsend 's Sister city in Japan and our namesake, Ichikawa. Creating a facade on the front of the building to make it look like a Japanese styled pirate ship, building a 1200 gallon aquarium with live performing mermaids as well as a relaxing outdoor zen garden will do this.
Inside we are expanding the current sake lounge into a cultural mecca with a full bar. A supper club with a variety of shows including music, performance and a view of the live mermaids. Thank You!
Opera makeup and what goes behind it: a mini-documentary | BEYOND SKIN DEEP
Opera makeup has more parallels with modern makeup than we imagine: the art of contouring and creating gradients were already practised in this traditional art form before Instagram existed. We had a chat with Teo Lin Lee, an opera hobbyist, and learnt more than just what makes opera performers look beautiful on stage.
Beyond Skin Deep is a video series by Daily Vanity to look beyond the parameters of conventional beauty. Through these short documentaries, we peer into the lives of amazing individuals who has a unique perspective on beauty.

A daytripper in Katsushika Shibamata α A77 Movie
I visited the town Katsushika-Shibamata in Katsushika ward,Tokyo metropolis
where is well known as a hometown of Tora-san(Torajiro) the most famous character from a series of films (Otoko-wa-Tsuraiyo)which means like It's hard to live as a man.
He was determined in the film as a man who was born in Katsushika-Shibamata and a longstanding tripper all over Japan and who sometimes comes back to his homeland in which his most lovable younger sister Sakura.
In the center of this town, there is the temple Shibamata-taisyakuten(柴又帝釈天)which is considered as a symbol of this area.
This temple is so famous countrywide because of such a reason.
And after that,I visited the house which was once owned by the family Yamamoto.
Mr Yamamoto was the president of a company which deals in optical products.
These buildings are cultural heritages or properties managed by the local government of Katsushika.
I had a rest inside drinking a cup of a bit bitter green tea with a sweet which was made from
a sweet paste of reddish beans and a kind of finely mashed potato.
You can often find a set of tea and sweets in such a style which reminds us tea ceremony in some Japanese old fashioned house or garden.
At last,I visited Yagiri-no-watashi(矢切の渡し)which was a stop of ferry(almost a boat) to carry people to the other side of Edo-gawa river.
Those people were famers who had their field for agriculture on the other side of the river.
This is considered as transportation of a commute for the local in those days.

Local fruits and vegetables on the show - at Hornbill Fest
Organic vegetables and fruits on display during the Horticulture exhibition cum Competition at Naga heritage village.
Nagaland, 'The Land of Festivals' and the warm Naga people, lies in the North Eastern part of India. Historically, the Nagas are known as headhunters and have always been brave warriors.
Sometimes Nagaland is also referred to as The Switzerland of the East. The region is primarily hilly and has a pleasant climate all through the year. It is perhaps the best place for the adventurous at heart and makes an ideal place for trekking and camping.
Also known as Paradise on earth. The Dzukou Valley is the most famed valley of Nagaland and the natural beauty of the area is absolutely captivating.
Another attraction for tourists is the Kohima War Cemetery. The cemetery is a tribute to the soldiers who laid down their lives pushing back the Japanese army during the Second World War. The bodies of around 1,100 British and 330 Indian soldiers are buried here.
One of the biggest cathedrals of North East India is located at Aradura Hill in Kohima. Its magnificent architecture makes it an important landmark of Kohima.
The Hornbill Festival is named after the Hornbill, a large, magnificent forest bird.
Held every year at the Naga Heritage Village in Kisama about 12 kms from Kohima, the festival is held over a period of 10 days annually. The entire Heritage Village was built for the sole purpose of hosting this festival and the16 tribes of Nagaland each have their own representative hut in the village. Organized by the Govt. of Nagaland, the festival showcases the entire spectrum of the rich culture of the various Naga tribes.
The hornbill festival was created to bring together the various tribes of the State to display their culture and tradition in the form of dances, songs, sports, foods and many other colorful events. People from within India as well as foreign visitors experience and witness the colorful festival with great enthusiasm.
Delicious, mouth-watering and typically Naga food from the different tribes is served in various huts or morungs. Each Morung also has its own restaurant, which serves their specific tribal delicacy. Rice beer is always in great demand and tourists don't mind standing in long serpentine queues for a taste of the same.

Debate Noam Chomsky & Michel Foucault - On human nature [Subtitled]
The full tv debate by Noam Chomsky and Michel Foucault on the question of Human Nature. Subtitles: English, Portuguese, Japanese. Proper subtitles. If you'd like to help create subs for other languages, then contact me.
[Dutch & Portuguese below]
Excerpts from the historical debate between Michel Foucault and Noam Chomsky have passed the reverse many times in recent years. And there is frequently referred to these two thinkers. Here we will be showing the whole fascinating debate on philosophy and politics that in 1971 was recorded for Dutch television.
Noam Chomsky (1928): linguist, historian, philosopher, critic and political activist. As the father of modern linguistics (linguistics), he focused on the issue of innate vs.. the learned. In his later career has evolved as a major critic of foreign policy of the United States (from Vietnam to South America to the Middle East) and propaganda in the modern media with one of his major works Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of the Mass Media.
Michel Foucault (1926 - 1984): French philosopher, social theorist, historian and literary critic. In his work he researches power and its workings, how it influenced knowledge and how it is used as a form of social control. He is best known for his critical studies of social institutions such as psychiatry, social anthropology, the prison system and the history of human sexuality. One of his major works is The Birth of the Prison, Discipline and Punish (Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison) on changes in the criminal model of punishing the body (corporal punishment) to punish the spirit.

The Political Economy of the Mass Media.

Manufacturing Prefecture Gunma Press Tour
Foreign Press Center Japan
Gunma Press Tour (December 13-14, 2010)
~Potential of Gunma's Inherited Manufacturing Gene~
Gunma prefecture is well known for its constellation of manufacturing industries. The accumulation of knowledge and technology over a long period of time has become the foundation of the industry in Gunma. Its history flourished from the silk and textile industry, typically the Tomioka Silk Mill, the origin of Japanese modernization and industrialization dating back to the Meiji era. Then the war industry was located there before and during the Second World War, for example, the biggest airplane manufacturer Nakajima Airplanes, the predecessor of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., now known for its automotive brand Subaru. At present day, Gunma is prominent in the area of secondary industry, such as casting, hammering, pressing and assembling. In this context, the prefecture has put a lot of resources into technological education, to meet the demand from the industrial world here. So, Gunma University faculty of engineering has been playing a key role and producing many great engineers supporting manufacturing expert, Gunma. This tour covered the potentiality of Gunma's inherited manufacturing gene; the case of industry-academic and government collaboration formed with the purpose of solving global issues such as energy; small and medium-sized enterprises producing unique products, which cannot be mimicked by others. The former is making full use of technical skill, imagination and the natural environment. In the latter case, unique manufacturing skills make them globally competitive, overcoming the worldwide depression and the strong yen.

EUROFIGHTER TYPHOON - WikiVidi Documentary
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine, canard-delta wing, multirole fighter. The Typhoon was designed originally as an air superiority fighter and is manufactured by a consortium of Alenia Aermacchi , Airbus, and BAE Systems that conducts the majority of the project through a joint holding company, Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH formed in 1986. NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency manages the project and is the prime customer. The aircraft's development effectively began in 1983 with the Future European Fighter Aircraft programme, a multinational collaboration among the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Disagreements over design authority and operational requirements led France to leave the consortium to develop the Dassault Rafale independently. A technology demonstration aircraft, the British Aerospace EAP, first took flight on 6 August 1986; the first prototype of the finalised Eurofighter made its first flight on 27 March 1994. The aircraft's name, Typhoon, was ado...
