Audio: Beethoven - Clarinete Trio, Opus 11, Adagio; clarinete - Ran Kampel; violoncelo - Michael Kaufman; piano - Zuo Zhang.

We can see images of places connected to Kant, father of the contemporary philosophy, who was born, lived and died in this city. The medieval cathedral (rebuilt during the last decade of the twentieth century following its destruction during Worl War II) is especially visible. Kant's tomb is adjacent to the rear part of the cathedral. On the first floor of the cathedral we can see inscriptions related to the philosopher and Albertina University, where he was pupil and teacher. This university, which no longer exists, was located very close to the place where the tomb of Kant is located nowadays. The upper floors are dedicated to the Kant Museum and the City Museum.

Kant-Insel in Kaliningrad

Walking in KALININGRAD / Russia ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)
Kaliningrad (Russian: Калинингра́д, German: Königsberg), is a the capital city of a Russian exclave at the Baltic sea between Poland and Lithuania.
The history of Kaliningrad dates back centuries where it was the capital of Prussia with the name Königsberg. It was a an important cultural hub in the 18th and 19th century, also the home town of philosopher Immanuel Kant.
Little is left of these times after the destructions that WWII brought. Now thanks to a new eVisa program, tourists from 50+ countries can easily visit Kaliningrad without a normal russian visa. There are direct bus connections from Gdansk, Elblag and even Warsaw.
We start our walk at the Ploshchad' Pobedy (Площадь Победы) at the Victory column. We see the a russian-orthodox cathedral (Кафедральный собор Христа Спасителя) and church there.
We walk down the Prospekt Leninskiy, a major street heading South to the old centre of the city. We pass the old castle ruins and finally see the old Kaliningrad Cathedral. I had to return to a ticket office to get into the cathedral where the Prussian history is seen. I somehow missed the Emanuel Kant tomb which is right behind the cathedral.
At last we walk along the Pregolya river where we end this evening tour on the Jubilee bridge.

STORYLINE
Russia's President Putin has described it as the key issue influencing relations between his country and the European Union. It is the historical and geographical oddity of Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave soon to be surrounded by an expanded EU. When Poland and Lithuania become EU members in 2004 citizens of Kaliningrad will need visas to travel to the Russian motherland. Russian nationalists in Moscow are bridling at the suggestion amid fears that Kaliningrad is already being entranced by the siren voices of the West

DESDE LA CUNA DE KANT: KÖNIGSBERG/KALININGRADO. | FROM KANT'S BIRTHPLACE: KÖNIGSBERG/KALININGRAD
(Transcripción español CC) | One of the most famous quotes from the German philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) is that he felt himself as a citizen of the world. “The Monster” Kaliningrad-Königsberg, Russia
This ugly building is also referred to as The Revenge of Konigsberg or the revenge of the Prussians, and it is because its built on top of the remains of what used to be the castle or the burg in Konigsberg, back in the 1970's, I think, the Kaliningrad Oblast government decided to bulldoze the remains, that were in shape for a restoration, and on it's place decided to built this horrendous thing. from the beginning they run into problems with flooding and more, and here it remains to this day, unused and abandoned.

No you Kant: Russians reject German thinker's name for airport
A Russian vice-admiral has denounced the 18th-Century German philosopher Immanuel Kant as a traitor, calling for him to be rejected in a vote to rename Russia's Kaliningrad airport. Vice-Admiral Igor Mukhametshin's rant to sailors came after anti-Kant protesters had thrown paint at a statue of the great thinker in Kaliningrad.Kant was easily beaten in the online vote by Empress Elizabeth (1709-1762).Kaliningrad was Kant's home when the Baltic city was Prussian Königsberg. The city was renamed Kaliningrad after Soviet forces drove the Nazis out in 1945, at huge cost.
It was mostly in ruins after the fighting and its majority ethnic Germans were expelled in 1947. The airport is currently named Khrabrovo, after a nearby village.
Kant's pure reasoningKant is famous for duty-based (deontological) ethics, which teaches that acts are justified if they are intrinsically the right thing to do, regardless of the consequences. He based his argument on the categorical imperative - a system of moral rules. But according to the vice-admiral of the Baltic Fleet, sailors have their own categorical imperative to dismiss the philosopher's works. Kant betrayed his motherland, Vice-Admiral Mukhametshin said. Yet there is no historical evidence that Kant was hostile towards imperial Russia.
The officer's tirade, delivered to sailors lined up on deck, came before the vote closed on 1 December and has appeared on YouTube (in Russian), He humiliated himself and on his hands and knees begged to be given a department at the university, so that he could teach, and he wrote some incomprehensible books that none of those present here today have read, and won't read, the vice-admiral said.He urged the sailors to vote for Marshal Alexander Vasilevsky, a Red Army officer who played a key role in the Soviet campaign against Nazi
