LIVERPOOL, EXPLORING the SLAVERY MUSEUM which covers history of the slave trade ????
SUBSCRIBE: - Let's visit the very interesting International Slavery Museum in Liverpool, England, which is part of the National Museums Liverpool group. Its displays cover untold stories of enslaved people, including historical and contemporary slavery. There is a section about life and culture in West Africa before the transatlantic slave trade, the history of slavery and also displays and special exhibitions about the legacies of slavery and current human rights issues.
This museum opened on 23 August 2007, the date of the annual International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition marking the beginning of the slave uprising in Santo Domingo. The year 2007 was particularly significant as it was the bicentenary of the United Kingdom's Slave Trade Act of 1807, which abolished the slave trade (though not slavery itself) in the U.K.

What is the International Slavery Museum?
The International Slavery Museum is on Liverpool Docks where many slave traders involved in transatlantic slavery would load and unload their ships.
We sent a group of Year 9 students to explore this unique museum. They discovered the grim realities of transatlantic slavery but they also found out about the legacies and the culture that grew up to resist slavery and oppression.

International Slavery Museum Liverpool
During my trip to Liverpool I took the family to the International Slavery Museum situated by the Albert Docks.
They learned so much and enjoyed exploring. Many of the exhibitions were interactive and some were videos and not just texts. It was nice to see them take their time to read the information and discuss it with me.
Liverpool became Britains capital of the slave trade. Streets are named after merchants and buildings built from profits reaped off of the blood sweat and tears of enslaved people.
This is just a snippet of what we saw on our trip.
