Bogachiel River Trail (Hiking)
Located outside of Forks, Washington, the Bogachiel River Trail follows the eponymous river up into Olympic National Park. It's not quite as headliner awesome as the Hoh River trail, but it is less crowded and still a very worthy hike that is well worth your time.

As of 2012, there are 398 official units of the National Park System. However, this number is somewhat misleading. For example: Denali National Park and Preserve is counted as two units, whereas Fort Moultrie National Monument is not counted as a unit because it is considered a part of Fort Sumter National Monument. Furthermore, the NPS contributes resources to many affiliated areas which do not fall under its administration, and do not count toward the official list total. An example is the Oklahoma City National Memorial.
These units are a subset of the List of areas in the National Park System of the United States, and nearly all participate in the national park passport stamps program. Delaware is the only state without an official unit. Units are also found in Washington, D.C., Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.

Finding Good Crappie Fishing Spots
Jason made a point in the fall and winter to look for new crappie fishing spots with his electronics. He started in some productive arms of the lake and idled along break lines looking for brush piles with fish.
These creek channel edges are often where fishermen like to drop their brush piles. So Jason scanned with Lowrance HDS 3D Structure Scan for likely looking spots and brush piles until he found schools of crappie holding on them.
Once he saw a good school of fish on a brush pile, he stopped and fished it. He would cast a jig over the top, when they quit biting that, he would pitch to the piles from a closer distance, and finally he would get right on top of them and fish vertically on the pile.
He had one of the best fall/winter periods for crappie fishing in recent years by getting out and hunting for fish more with his electronics.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park | USA
Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited national park in the United States with over 11 million visitors. The park encompasses 522,419 acres, making it one of the largest protected areas in the eastern United States. The park was established in 1934, and it is divided down its length by the Tennessee - North Carolina border.
The name of the range is commonly shortened to the Smokies, due to the ever-present morning fog and low clouds.
The main park entrances are located along U.S. Highway 441 (Newfound Gap Road) at the towns of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and Cherokee, North Carolina.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park has no entrance fees and the reason dates back to 1930s. The state of Tennessee stipulated that, no toll or license fee shall ever be imposed to travel the Newfound Gap Road.
The park is almost 95 percent forested, and almost 36 percent of it is estimated by the Park Service, to be old growth forest with many trees that predate European settlement of the area.
These ancient mountains provide ideal habitat for over 1,600 species of flowering plants, including 100 native tree species and over 100 native shrub species.
A tour through the park offers visitors breathtaking mountain scenery, including panoramic views, rushing mountain streams, and mature hardwood forests stretching to the horizon.
Over 2,100 miles of streams and rivers flow through Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Park is full of wildlife. Protected are around 65 species of mammals, over 200 varieties of birds, 67 native fish species, and more than 80 types of reptiles and amphibians.
Black Bear is perhaps the most famous resident of the park. Biologists estimate approximately 1,500 bears live in the park.
The largest is the elk, which was experimentally reintroduced to the park in 2001.
Whitetail deer are very common and in addition, visitors most often see squirrels, chipmunks, raccoons, foxes,…
Coyotes are not often seen and just like bobcats, they are very reclusive.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park has been called the Salamander Capital of the World. 30 salamander species are found in the park, making this one of the most diverse areas on Earth.
About 800 miles of streams in the park support fish. The park boasts over 60 native fish species, including the brook trout.
There are 850 miles of trails and unpaved roads in the park for hiking, including seventy miles of the Appalachian Trail. At 6,625 feet tall, Clingmans Dome is the highest point along the whole Appalachian Trail.
Fifty-foot observation deck offers views for many miles over the Tennessee, North Carolina and Georgia mountains on a clear day.
Alum Cave Trail provides many scenic overlooks and unique natural attractions such as, Alum Cave Bluffs and Arch Rock. This trail leads to the Mount Le Conte, which is one of the most visited viewpoints.
There are a great number of waterfalls in the park. Every year over 200,000 visitors hike well-worn trails to view Grotto, Laurel, Abrams, Rainbow, and other popular waterfalls in the park. Large waterfalls attract the crowds, but smaller cascades and falls can be found on nearly every river and stream in the park.
If you love historic structures, Great Smoky Mountains National Park holds one of the best collections in the eastern United States. Over 90 historic structures—houses, barns, outbuildings, churches, schools, and grist mills—have been preserved or rehabilitated in the park.
Being the most visited national park, traffic in the park may become congested at times, especially on the Newfound Gap and Cades Cove Loop roads. Most visitors are observed between July 1 and August 15 and in the month of October (especially October weekends).

The Volunteer Family
With two teens and a toddler, the Gibson family has a hectic schedule. But every year they squeeze in time to volunteer at the Texas Coastal Expo. Fishing Hall of Fame 2015: Mark Stevenson
Lake Fork fishing guide Mark Stevenson is arguably the most famous angler in Texas. He’s the guy that caught Ethel, a 17.67-pound largemouth bass that broke the previous state record and became the first entry into the ShareLunker program. Over the years Mark has donated trips to many worthy causes benefiting youth, veterans and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department projects such as construction of the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center.
Producer’s Favorites: Forgotten Borderland
In 1993 the Texas-Mexico border was pretty much wide open. This openness and the people living on either side of the Rio Grande inspired video producer Curtis Craven to travel the borderland in search of a story. At the end of the first day, Curtis and crew were welcomed, fed and given beds by the members of a small sheep herding community. This is the story of that place in time, where you might not find a road, but you could certainly find new friends.

Title: The USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory - Research, monitoring, and the science of preparing society for low-probability, high-consequence events
* Volcanoes in the Cascade Range erupt twice per century on average, with eruptions often lasting for years.
* Although eruptions are generally not as high-consequence as large earthquakes, they are still high-consequence events.
* When a volcano wakes up there can be intense public interest - which requires crisis management, even if the eruption is small.
