J.W. Evans Silver Factory, Birmingham
Not much silverware is seen on dining tables nowadays, but in the past it was extremely popular -- particularly during the Edwardian era. This film follows each step in the production of a typical product - a Chippendale-pattern candlestick, first produced in 1914. It was largely filmed on site at the former J.W. Evans silverware factory, in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.

Tour of Charlecote Park - 16/6/17
*The volunteer staff (including myself) at Kenilworth Castle and the J. W. Evans Silver Factory got the chance to visit Charlecote Park with free entry, which included a guided garden tour. A great day out and it was all courtesy of English Heritage.
Charlecote Park (grid reference SP263564) is a grand 16th-century country house, surrounded by its own deer park, on the banks of the River Avon near Wellesbourne, about 4 miles (6 km) east of Stratford-upon-Avon and 5.5 miles (9 km) south of Warwick, Warwickshire, England. It has been administered by the National Trust since 1946 and is open to the public. It is a Grade I listed building.

National Trust & Goldsmiths - Studio Silver Today project
Two of Britain's most cherished organisations have got together to promote the centuries-old art of silversmithing.
As part of the initiative, Spot were commissioned to make a film that promoted the 'Studio Silver Today' campaign featuring rising star artist silversmith, Miriam Hanid. Location shoots took place at Ickworth House in Suffolk, the city of London and coastal East Anglia.
Our finished film, (an edited version is shown here), will feature at Ickworth House throughout the spring/summer season of 2012 where Miriam will be in attendance, working in front of the public to produce a specially commissioned piece that will celebrate both silversmithing and Ickworth itself.

In this second hour - long video tour of some of the finest historical sites in England, in the care of English Heritage, we visit the majestic hilltop ruins of Bolsover Castle in Derbyshire; Down House in Kent, the home of Charles Darwin for 40 years from where the great scientist wrote 'On the Origin of Species'; and the medieval ruins of one of the east of England's best - preserved priories, Castle Acre in Norfolk.
We also explore the great Isle of Wight fortress of Carisbrooke Castle, where Charles I spent his last days before being executed; the Victorian splendour of Brodsworth Hall in South Yorkshire; and Henry II's towering castle at Orford on the Suffolk coast.
En route we reveal the treasures of Walmer Castle in Kent, where the Queen Mother often stays; the 12th century Framlingham Castle in Suffolk topped by it's famous Tudor chimneys; and the splendour of one of Norman England's most important strongholds at Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire ...... all in all, a visual feast of history which can be enjoyed again and again.
I own nothing.
Bolsover Castle (English Heritage) in Derbyshire | UK Travel Vlog | Visit England
In this UK travel vlog I visit the English Heritage property of Bolsover Castle in Derbyshire, which was once opened by the Cavendish family (of Chatsworth). Bolsover Castle is supposedly the most haunted English Heritage property and it did feel quite eerie - although maybe that was because it was a very cold April day! We look around the exhibition in the stables, the ruin, the 'little castle' with its many rooms, and the small gardens.

Paths of the Dead - Warstone Lane Cemetery, JQ Birmingham
Warstone Lane Cemetery is a nexus of peace in the heart of the bustling Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham. Opened in 1848 to provide a last resting place for Birmingham's burgeoning population, the last burials were in 1982. A vast mausoleum, like a coliseum of the dead, was constructed in an old sand quarry. Thousands of Brummies were buried there but it also became an air raid shelter during WW2.
The fallen of two world wars are remembered by a cenotaph near the lodge and a newer memorial to the Great War of 1914-1918.
The thousands of gravestones are being photographed and recorded by The Jewellery Quarter Research Trust.
Warstone Lane Cemetery is also cared for by a friends group.
