Bridgeburg Family Restaurant Niagara BLVD at Jarvis St Fort Erie ON Canada 905 871 0007
We just started filming and doing restaurant reviews in November 2012 around Fort Erie. Enjoyed the monster taco's and Jersey Poutine fries at the Bridgeburg Family Restaurant. It's at the end of Jarvis St beside Kartek Auto (small car lot there) and corner of the Niagara Parkway BLVD one block north from the usa canada railway bridge, and several blocks (5 min drive) from peace bridge @central ave.(opposite direction from Garrison Rd)
I like the large comfy chairs and benches very roomy for people of all sizes.
Wheel chair access in the door, but you have to be able to walk into the washroom's, there is hallway space for your wheel chair to the bathroom doors.
several tables seating for 4 and some for 6 (if you have more than 4 people, id call ahead of time, not sure if they take reservations but you can check to see what's available.)
Busy place, quick friendly service. Family style, They have a high chair for little ones. Gorgeous patio and view of the niagara river. Parking in front of restaurant and there's a parking lot across from it on the parkway if you want to walk off all those calories!
They specialize in turkish cuisine and gyros. various menu items, different style of cuisine from anyone else in fort erie, st catharines or niagara falls - nice flavor dishes.
chicken wings are delicious! breakfast - lunch specials and dinner menu
they have a dessert menu, a tv with either news or sports on (toronto news) and I believe you can get drinks there as well.

the Taco's are so big, one fills you up. you could order one taco and a salad and split it nicely between two people if you are watching your pennies. :) (both Harry and I have small appetites and always eat small meals so we split our food sometimes, and when were hungry we order more.)

Blue Heron long legged Bird Flies over Niagara River behind Happy Jacks Chinese Patio Restaurant
the idea girl says
while filming the baby starlings as they learn to fly and almost hit us, I note that the water levels are low earlier in the day and higher in the mid day range. this is also when there seems to be lots of fish around 5 to 630 pm in this area *note for fishermen*
if you like watching birds, then come to eat on the patio at happy jacks chinese food (they serve american dishes as well for finicky eaters - roast beef, chicken, fries, burgers, etc)
the birds like to eat from 4 to 630 pm, and people like to stand in theniagara river and fish. so have a bite to eat, a drink (wine) and then pull out your fishing rods (make sure you have a license on you to fish) and enjoy some Rest and relaxation time. lots of parking across from the restaurant (eating in) and if fishing, there's a parking lot south of the restaurant by the hydro transmission tower by the peace bridge usa canada border crossing which is 1 min away (Queen st, to central ave) or if you need to get back on the HWY take Bertie st from the niagara parkway and turn left at the 3rd set of lights onto concession st. or next lights at Thompson rd (walmart, no frills, golden nugget bingo - future site of scotia bank, quizmo's and LCBO building)

Thunder on the Niagara - Hydroplane Start 1
If you’re into speed, there’s an event in North Tonawanda that you’re not going to want to miss. This weekend is Thunder on the Niagara, a thrilling hydroplane boat race that is unlike anything else that you have ever witnessed.
Each year these thunderboats convene in NT to demonstrate the raw power and tremendous planing forces that drive these spectacular crafts to compete. This race is nothing but pure excitement and thrills, with an occasional spill along the way.
Aside from the action on the water, there’re also plenty of other sights to behold on land, such as a fabulous car and bike show, as well as skydivers.
NORTH TONAWANDA – Hydroplanes, boats that float on a pocket of air, will be center stage – or more correctly center Niagara River – for the annual Thunder on the Niagara races from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and next Sunday off Gratwick-Riverside Park.
“It’s like riding a magic carpet,” said driver Ken Brodie II, of Grand Island, whose Grand Prix-class hydroplane, the fastest class in the race, reaches speeds up to 150 mph.
“People in the Tonawandas love their boat racing,” said Peter Hackett, race director for the Niagara Frontier Boat Racing Association. “It’s like a liquid fix. There’s no comparison.”
Nearly 90 boats, from as far as the Midwest and Florida and even Montreal, are expected to compete in the two-day event, which has a nearly 75-year history in the area.
Founded in 1939, the event started at the Buffalo Launch Club in the early 1940s and then held races off Niawanda and Isleview parks in the 1970s and 1980s, where it gained a following. In the past, races had been held in a number of area sites at one time but were consolidated due to expense and moved to Gratwick-Riverside Park in 2006.
The 2013 Thunder on the Niagara will also be partnering with the American Power Boat Racing Association and the American Canadian Hydroplane Association.
Hackett said that when the event first came to Gratwick, it was rainy, and there were about 40 boats and a couple of thousand spectators.
“Last year tens of thousands came out to watch,” Hackett said.
Hackett, of the City of Tonawanda, grew up in North Tonawanda, following both his grandfather and father into hydroplane racing. He said his great-grandfather Edwin “Pop” Schroeder had a shop on Oliver Street where everyone came to have their boats fixed.
Brodie, a second-generation racer, called it a “family sport,” with all his family in the pit crew. His 13-year-old daughter, Amanda, is waiting for her turn at the wheel – though she’s not quite up to dad’s level yet. She said she wants to race in the slower T-class, for ages 14 and up, as soon as she can.
“I’ll be 14 in October. I can’t wait,” Amanda said.
“It’s a nice course,” Brodie said. “It’s about a mile long, and there are no rock walls like in Niawanda and Isleview. Gratwick is the perfect setting.”
“We use the whole park,” said Hackett.
The park has been undergoing a $1.78 million restoration, with a new restaurant, Lumber Jacks Patio Grill, and an upgraded marina.
“Waterfront development is about bringing people to your waterfront and making it accessible,” said North Tonawanda Mayor Robert Ortt.
There are plenty of viewing sites for this free family event throughout the park, with a donation of $5 for on-site parking, which benefits the not-for-profit Twin City Community Outreach. The park will open at 8 a.m. on both days, with races beginning at 10. Those attending are asked to enter the park at Ward Road, off River Road.
Food vendors and crafters will also participate in the two-day event, with a breakfast offered Sunday morning.
