Moon Palace Jamaica is a family all inclusive resort in the heart of Ocho Rios right by the cruise port. You are walking distance to restaurants, shops and the market. The resort has great dining options. I was impressed how seriously the waiters treated food allergies I think many families would love the onsite swim with dolphins excursion and flow rider. The beach is a bit rocky and they are working on improving it. Night time offers a lot of choices: lobby bar with music, disco, piano bar or an adults only bar with music.
I think this resort is a great fit for families who want to take excursions in the Ocho Rios area and are staying for a week. The ride to the airport is around an hour and half. It took us two hours on the way there in the afternoon and an hour and 15 minutes at 4:00 am. That's right if you have a 9:00 am, transfers will pick up 5 hours before your flight.

Sandals Ochi Beach resort is an all inclusive adults only resort near Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It's divided into three sections:
Hillside - This aptly named section is on the side of a hill - across the street from the beach. Butler villas dot the hillside. This area has a large swim up pool, jerk chicken shack, Speakeasy, and several dinner restaurants.
Ochi Beach Club - This section does have rooms. It does have a beach area, swim up bar, sports bar, and several restaurants including one of my favorites: Soy- the sushi restaurant.
Seaside - You easily walk from Ochi Beach Club to Seaside. This is where the majority of the Club Level rooms are located as well as the evening theater, Ethel's piano bar, several restaurants, and another swim up bar.
This is a fun active resort. The beaches are small, cove beaches so it's really a resort if you love the pool. It's also a great resort for divers and foodies. Diving is included and fourteen dive sites are located near Ocho Rios. I include foodies because the 17 dining options. Yum!
The Hop shuttle takes guests around the resort. It runs every 5 - 10 minutes to connect Hillside to Ochi Beach Club to Seaside.
One of my favorite features is that 4 couples could book out a butler villa together. You'll have your own shared private pool. How fun would that be! You could head to the resort if you want to party or just have your butler bring you a meal from the restaurant of your choosing and serve it right on your patio. It has all the fun of renting a villa with the added benefit of each couple having their own private space (and bathroom) and no cooking or cleaning.

The town was not more than a fishing harbour until the early 1900 when interest in tourism began to shape the landscape and transformed Ocho Rios into the beautiful resort town it is today with beautiful beaches, all inclusive resorts, villas, duty free shopping, craft shopping and fishing beaches where you can enjoy seafood dishes(Island style)as well as various water sports activities, attractions and sightseeing tours. Climb a waterfall...there is something for everyone so come travel with us across the Island and let us share the warmth and beauty of our Island home. Without a doubt the most popular attraction in Ocho Rios and one of Jamaica's natural treasures. A 15 minutes drive from town, Dunn's River Falls is internationally known as a living-growing phenomenon consisting of 600 feet of cascading waterfalls with several natural pools surrounded by dense forestry.
At the bottom of the Falls is one of our best beaches where you can engage in water sports, or just bask in the sun while enjoying the scenery. There are restaurants, a craft market and restrooms conveniently located in beautiful surroundings.
Climbing the fall is a wet but easily navigable ascent from its starting point on the beach and is quite exhilarating as you're showered with cool clear water all the way to the top (approximately 45 minutes). It's best to use a guide as he knows the safest spots, will take care of your pictures and will help you enjoy the experience. We suggest tennis or aqua shoes for safety as well as comfort. Shaw Park Gardens which is 550 feet above sea level and located on the grounds of a former hotel boasts a stunning view of Ocho Rios. The Gardens are creatively planted, resplendent with unusual flowers, plants, trees and a near perpendicular waterfall.Jamaica (Listeni/dʒəˈmeɪkə/) is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea, comprising the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles. The island, 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area, lies about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres (119 mi) west of Hispaniola, the island containing the nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Jamaica is the fifth-largest island country in the Caribbean.[5]
Once a Spanish possession known as Santiago, in 1655 it came under the rule of England (later Great Britain), and was called Jamaica.
