Jamie's Whale Watching Tour - GoPro Hero 3+ - Tofino - Canada - 2014
In September 2014 i had a wonderful holiday with Heidie Duteweert to Canada. A road trip with an RV from Cruise Canada. We also visited Vancouver Island and we also did some exciting tours. In Tofino we visited Jamie's Whaling Station to see whales and orcas on a large boat. In the morning we had no luck and saw nothing but birds, otters and sea lions. When we came back in Tofino we got a ticket with access to a free trip, which was valid for life because we had not seen killer whales or orca. Great option! Heidie came up with the clever idea to go that afternoon immediately. So we could join the super fast zodiac that afternoon. A boat trip of more than 4 hours and we saw plenty of killer whales at close range. A wonderful experience and great accompanied by Jamie's Whale Watching. During the trip I had my GoPro Hero 3+ selfiestick and have a wild boat ride occasionally filmed. Also, there are images from my Canon 5dMark3 at. The wild ride back to Tofino we had packed along the coast and the Pacific Ocean with huge waves. It also rained occasionally. This was a spectulaire wild boat adventure that I shall not forget! Thanks to Jamie's Whaling Station.

The Whale Centre -Tofino
The Whale Centre in Tofino offers whale, bear and bird watching tours but it also is a centre for marine mammal rescue.
Bear Grooming in Tofino B.C.
While in Tofino B.C., we went bear watching along the B.C. coast line. This is done using a Zodiac to leave Tofino and head over to the mainland at low tide which usually occurs near sunrise or sunset in late August. At low tide, the black bears come down to the shoreline and forage for crabs beneath the rocks. As you will see, they eat well and are totally oblivious to us in the Zodiac.
Bear Watching in Tofino, B.C.
While on our summer trip up the west coast of Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, we found bears in the wild getting their morning breakfast!
In this video, we take the dinghy to the eastern side of Tofino through the McBey Islets to Dawley Passage Provincial Park where we found the first black bear. After oohing and awing over this amazing creature, we headed northeast into the Kirshaw Islets where we find bear #2. Unfortunately, bear #2 was quick to get back into the brush so we headed back to the Tofino Resort and Marina for a warm shower and lunch!
Overall, successful bear watching trip. We hope you get as excited as we were to see wild black bears!
Black Bear viewing with Tofino Whale Centre
Black bear viewing with the Whale Centre, Tofino, Vancouver Island. We saw a total of eight bears on the 2 hour tour.
Tofino Whale Watching Boat Accident
Reporter Jeff Lee is in Tofino to cover the accident involving a whale watching boat in which at least 5 people were killed when their boat sank. One person is still missing and 21 others were rescued.
Hot Springs Cove, Tofino
Hot Springs Cove is a truly secluded and magical place. A little over an hour boat ride from Tofino, BC followed by a 30 minute walk through untouched rainforest brings you to this epic west coast destination.
Thanks to Jamie's Whaling Station for giving us the lift!

Tofino, Vancouver Island
Just look around. Tofino will captivate your every sense.
It's the feeling of peace you get from kayaking or boating the calm inside waters of Clayoquot Sound. It's the bobbing heads of hooded surfers braving legendary swells on endless beaches. It is food so fresh that you often pass it on your morning stroll. It's muted silver skies ushering in brilliant coloured horizons just for you, or it seems.
It's salt bathed streets teeming with restaurants, galleries, and resorts constructed in true West Coast fashion. It's living history nestled into surreal landscapes: this is Tofino, and you have to see it to believe it.
