North Korean Spy Ship at the Japan Coast Guard Museum
North Korean spy ship was sunk after a battle with the Japanese Coast Guard on Dec. 22, 2001. In 2003 the trawler was raised by the Japanese to confirm her origin and intentions. Inspection of the hulk determined she was of North Korean origin and most likely an infiltration and spy vessel. It was revealed that the vessel was camouflaged as a Chinese or Japanese fishing boat and that she could develop 33 knots, far faster than any commercial trawler. The ship had also a hidden double hatch in the stern to be used as an exit door for speedboats. After the inspections were deemed complete the hulk was displayed at the JCG museum in Yokohama.

We're here to ask the emperor and the empress of Japan to finally heed the call of the Filipino comfort women (sex slaves) for justice. If they were able to acknowledge that they committed rapes against the Korean women (who were also used as sex slaves), and to pay compensation to the Korean women, we do not see why they (Filipino women) cannot also ask for (an) apology and pay compensation to the Filipina victims of mass rape during World War II.

STORYLINE:
Japan's Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko boarded a helicopter in Manila on Friday as they prepared to visit a monument erected for Japanese war dead in nearby Laguna province.
The couple are expected to leave a floral tribute at the Japanese memorial garden located near Lake Caliraya in Cavinti, Laguna.
The memorial was set up by the Japanese government in 1973.
Meanwhile, eight women who were used as sex slaves by the Japanese Imperial Army during their World War II occupation of the Philippines held a protest outside the Japanese embassy.
They are demanding an apology and compensation from the Japanese government, similar to what was pledged to victims in South Korea.
Japan and South Korea recently announced that they have settled their decades-long standoff over wartime sex slaves, with Tokyo pledging 8.3 million US dollars for South Korean women forced into Japanese military-run brothels during the war.
Historians say tens of thousands of women from around Asia were sent to frontline military brothels to provide sex to Japanese soldiers.

Japan launches major rescue efforts after typhoon unleashes deadly floods
facebook.com/TwoCatsVideoProduction
Japan's military scrambled Sunday to rescue people trapped by flooding after powerful Typhoon Hagibis ripped across the country, killing at least 19 people and leaving more than a dozen missing.
The casualty toll was compiled by Kyodo News service and was higher than one given by the government spokesman earlier Sunday, a day after Typhoon Hagibis made landfall south of Tokyo and battered central and northern Japan with torrents of rain and powerful gusts of wind.
The storm triggered deadly landslides and caused rivers to burst their banks. The destruction forced Rugby World Cup organisers to cancel the third match of the tournament though the key Japan-Scotland clash will go ahead.
By Sunday morning, the significantly weakened storm had moved back off land, but serious flooding was reported in central Japan's Nagano, where a burst levee sent water from the Chikuma river gushing into residential neighbourhoods, flooding homes up to the second floor.
Japan's military deployed helicopters to rescue people seen standing on balconies waving towels to attract attention.
Overnight, we issued evacuation orders to 427 households, 1,417 individuals, Yasuhiro Yamaguchi, an emergency official in Nagano city, told 2CNY NEWS, adding that it was unclear how many homes had been affected.
Aerial footage showed a row of bullet trains half-submerged in muddy waters at a depot in Nagano.
Hagibis smashed into the main Japanese island of Honshu around 7:00 pm (1000 GMT) Saturday as one of the most violent typhoons in recent years, with wind gusts of up to 216 kilometres per hour (134 miles per hour).
Well before making landfall, the outer bands of the storm claimed their first victim, a driver whose van was flipped over in the strong gusts.
Several more deaths were confirmed Saturday night, including a man killed in a landslide and another pulled from a flooded home.
And the toll continued to rise as the full scale of the disaster became clearer Sunday morning, with bodies recovered from submerged cars and landslides across several regions of the country.
Boat sinks in Tokyo Bay
National broadcaster NHK said at least 99 people had been injured and more than a dozen were missing after the storm.
Among the missing were eight people from a cargo ship that sank Saturday night in Tokyo Bay. The coast guard said they had rescued four of the Panama-flagged ship's crew but were still searching for the others.
At the storm's peak, more than seven million people were placed under non-compulsory evacuation orders, with tens of thousands heeding the call and moving into government shelters.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued its highest-level rain disaster warning, saying unprecedented downpours were expected.
The water came up higher than my head in the house, Hajime Tokuda, a finance professional living in Kawasaki near Tokyo told 2CNY NEWS.
He moved to his family's home nearby, but that flooded too and they had to be rescued by boat.
In Saitama's Higashi Matsuyama city, northwest of Tokyo, rice and flower farmers were counting their losses, with water submerging warehouses full of freshly harvested product.
We never had a flood like this before in this neighbourhood, said one farmer, who declined to give his name.
We cannot even go into the flower warehouse due to the water. I don't know where to start cleaning this mess.
Japan-Scotland match on
The storm also brought travel chaos during a long holiday weekend in Japan, with flights grounded and both local and bullet trains serving Tokyo suspended fully or partially.
But Sunday morning, train services were resuming and operations were slowly restarting at the two airports serving the capital, although many flights remained cancelled.
The storm had already caused havoc for the sports world, forcing the delay of Japanese Grand Prix qualifiers and the cancellation of two Saturday Rugby World Cup matches.
On Sunday morning, organisers said they had been forced to cancel a third fixture -- Namibia-Canada -- but gave the go-ahead to three others including a crunch Japan-Scotland game in Yokohama, near Tokyo.
Scotland faced elimination if the match was cancelled and had threatened legal action if it was not played.

????A North Korean Spy Ship
On December 22, 2001, the Japan Coast Guard received reports that a suspicious vessel had been spotted in waters southwest of Kyūshū. Aircraft and patrol ships were dispatched to investigate the intruder, setting off a chase that was shown repeatedly on television news programs over the next few days. A video display at the museum shows Coast Guard vessels chasing the suspicious boat, ordering it to halt, and then firing warning shots across its bow.
????NYK Maritime Museum
This museum presents the history of how ships transferring people, goods, and culture have opened up the sea route from Japan to overseas since the Meiji period. Inside the artistic building which has been used as the Yokohama branch of a shipping company, Nippon Yusen Kaisya (NYK Line), visitors can enjoy videos and a display of a large scale model of a luxury liner of the 1920's. Free tea service is provided in the resting area.

Coast Guard focuses on safety
If you're out on the water and you hear a loud bang and see a bright flash you may be in a restricted area. The U-S Coast Guard has a brand new tool to get the attention of wayward boaters.
