[Hawaii] Honolulu Fire Dept. Engine 9 Responding from Kakaako Fire Station!
Captured here is Engine 9 of the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responding out of Kakaako Fire Station, which is also connected to the HFD Headquarters. Engine Company No. 9 had a busy day that day as they were already on a call when I toured the station, and received another emergency run shortly after returning to the station. It is relatively hard to catch fire engines responding in Honolulu, as most medical calls and non-fire related incidents are handled by the department's aerial rigs. This is done to keep the water carrying engines ready to respond to fires as much as possible, as fires can spread rapidly in the city's structures, mostly due to high winds from the sea. Mahalo (thank you) to the firefighters of Kakaako for welcoming me at their station!

Moana Pacific, 1288 Kapiolani Blvd., Honolulu, Hawaii
THE PARADISE THAT IS THE MOANA PACIFIC COMMUNITY!
Paradise offers luxury living, magnificent vistas, abundant nearby shopping and dining, and is but a few minutes’ walking distance from the heart of Honolulu—and its name is Moana Pacific. Wrapped in a curtain of double-glazed glass and offering epic views of the mountains to the ocean, the elegant and sleek oval shaped twin tower complex was built in 2007. And its developers, KC Rainbow Development Co. and Hawaiian Dredging, created a high-rise residential community consisting of 688 units located on a choice six-acre block that is quite unique and one of the largest in all Honolulu.
Everything at Moana Pacific is ultra-modern and state of the art!
Accommodations for residents and their guests begin with 28 guest parking stalls (14 for each tower) and 24-hour on-site security (with limited but top notch concierge) that greet patrons via an expansive circular water area hosting a two-story glass walled lobby. This duplicative design for each tower includes enjoyable access to the 6th floor where inside is a two-story open air exercise facility with the latest equipment, a small party center as well as an impressive theater room. Twin tower security also provides Enterphone, video surveillance and electronic fob activated elevators and entries.
Private condo furnishings are quite upscale. And include beautiful cabinetry complemented by a subzero fridge with wood paneling, a professional series GE oven/range with a double layered stainless steel hood and an almost completely soundless Bosch dishwasher. The kitchens and bathrooms are ceramic tiled, with crushed granite countertops and the remainder of the flooring covered in plush carpet. Offering improved energy efficiency and quietude, windows in every unit are double glazed. A small lanai is present in all but the one bedroom units, while every unit enjoys washer/dryer hook-ups, central A/C and fire protection sprinklers. (*Many residences have been upgraded or remodeled and have different finishes than originally delivered by the developer)
Again, the 6th floor is the community’s most exciting locale where the two towers connect via an extensive recreation deck that includes three golf driving ranges, a putting green, two tennis courts, a delightful water feature, numerous BBQ areas, hot tub, a playground and kiddie pool, and an enormous swimming pool that can accommodate recreational swimmers and lap swimmers at the same time. Each building’s parking area house numerous storage rooms which at any given time a few are up for sale or rent. To complement all this, the recreation deck, gym and lobbies all have Wi-Fi access 24/7.
If this weren't amenities enough, the Moana Pacific is located within quick access to the nearest major highway and but a few minutes’ walk to the Ala Moana Beach Park and sprawling Ala Moana Shopping Center. At the foundation of the complex is the three-story Honolulu Design Center which hosts the Stage Café coffee shop, the upscale Stage restaurant, the Amuse wine bar and Cupola Theater. Directly across the street are the Gyu Kaku Japanese fusion restaurant and trendy Original Pancake House. When the Ewa Wing Expansion of the $500M redevelopment is completed, Moana Pacific residents will be a brief stroll from the newest quarter of the Ala Moana Shopping Center offering the best in shopping, dining and fun. For cost, location and amenities, the Moana Pacific twin towers is as close to paradise as anyone can hope to live!
