Wandering Around Japan Pt.4 - Iwakuni & Miyajima - 16 days in Japan 2016
Wandering Around Japan Pt.4 Iwakuni & Miyajima - 16 days in Japan. I went down to Iwakuni for a couple days and did a day trip to Miyajima Island. The boat ride is only about 20 minutes and mellow. Miyajima is a nice place to hike, shop, chill and lots of deer wandering around but they don't really bother you.

Re-upload Japan Trip 2013 Tokyo Akiba(Akihabara) Sofmap 797
Sofmap
Sofmap Co., Ltd. (ソフマップ, Sofumappu) (TYO: 2690) is a Japanese retailer which sells both new and used electronics. It is a subsidiary of Bic Camera.
Akihabara
Akihabara (Japanese: 秋葉原) Field of Autumn Leaves, also known as Akihabara Electric Town (Japanese: 秋葉原電気街 Hepburn: Akihabara Denki Gai?), is a district of Tokyo, Japan. It is located less than five minutes by rail from Tokyo Station. Its name is frequently shortened to Akiba (アキバ?) in Japan. While there is an official locality named Akibahara, which is also 秋葉原 in kanji, nearby (as part of Taitō-ku), the area known to most people as Akihabara (including the railway station of the same name) also include Soto-Kanda, a part of Chiyoda-ku.[citation needed]
Akihabara is a major shopping area for electronic, computer, anime, games and otaku goods, including new and used items. New items are mostly to be found on the main street, Chūōdōri, with many kinds of used items found in the back streets of Soto Kanda 3-chōme. New parts for PC-building are readily available from a variety of stores. Tools, electrical parts, wires, microsized cameras and similar items are found in the cramped passageways of Soto Kanda 1-chōme (near the station). Foreign tourists tend to visit the big name shops like Laox or other speciality shops near the station, though there is more variety and lower prices at locales a little further away. Akihabara gained some fame through being home to one of the first stores devoted to personal robots and robotics.[citation needed]
The area was just out of Sujikai-gomon city gate (present Mansei bridge) which was one of the city gates (Mitsuke) of old Edo (Tokyo). It was the gateway from inner Edo to northern and northwestern Japan and Kan'ei-ji temple in Ueno. Many dealers, craftsmen and relatively lower class samurai lived there.

2x Very Nice 1992 Yokohama Elevator Traction Elevs 1,3,5-6@Edo-Tokyo Museum, Sumida, Tokyo, Japan
Filmed in January 2016. This is a museum of the history of Tokyo during the Edo period. It was established in 1993. The main features of the permanent exhibitions are the life-size replica of the Nihonbashi, which was the bridge leading into Edo; the Nakamuraza theatre; and scale models of towns and buildings from the Edo, Meiji and Shōwa periods. The museum is adjacent to the Ryōgoku Kokugikan. It was designed by Kiyonori Kikutake. The distinctive elevated shape of the museum building is modelled after an old storehouse in the kurazukuri style. (Source: Wikipedia).
Here is a list of all the passenger 1992 Yokohama Elevators at the museum (5 of of 6 elevators; one is behind locked doors, for accessible only):
(outside the museum, 1992 Yokohama Elevator hydraulic elevator serving two floors)
(2x Non-scenic 1992 huge Yokohama Elevators (traction) serving floors 1, 3, 5 and 6)
(2x Amazing 1992 Yokohama Scenic Elevators (traction) serving floors (B1), 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7)
The museum building is 62 metres high (about 19 standard floors) and has 5 floors open to the public, with long gaps between the floors (for instance, it is around 30 meters between floors 3 and 5, so that's why it looks like the elevators are slow, when in fact, they're not that slow. One of the two non-scenic elevators also has a special indicator, showing the position of the cab.
There are two huge non-scenic elevators here.
Location: Edo-Tokyo Museum (東京都江戸東京博物館), Yokoami (Ryogoku), Sumida, Tokyo, Japan
Brand: Yokohama Elevator
Type: Traction
Year installed: late 1992 (Completed in March 1993)
Floors served: 4 (about 44 meters high or 14 standard floors) - (1, *2*, 3, ***4*****, 5,**, 6)
Serial: Unknown
Capacity: 50 persons or 3250 kg

Tokyo Daibutsu is located in Jorenji Temple in Akatsuka, Itabashi Ward. I heard Tokyo Daibutsu is Japan's third largest after Nara, Kamakura. Is that truth? So I went to Jorenji to check the size.

Construction year:1977
Height:12.5m
Weight:32t
Material:Bronze
東京大仏は板橋区赤塚の乗蓮寺にあります。東京大仏は奈良、鎌倉に次ぐ日本で3番目に大きい大仏とわれ、そのサイズを確かめに乗蓮寺に行ってみました。

☆Bits of knowledge〜Meiji Shrine〜
Meiji Shrine (明治神宮, Meiji Jingū) is a shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his consort, Empress Shoken. Located just beside the JR Yamanote Line's busy Harajuku Station, Meiji Shrine and the adjacent Yoyogi Park make up a large forested area within the densely built-up city. The spacious shrine grounds offer walking paths that are great for a relaxing stroll.
