A Trip to Sasan Gir
Gir National Park and wildlife sanctuary is situated in Gujarat, Western India. It was established to protect Asiatic lions along with leopards and antelopes, form the fully protected area of 1,412 km2. Gir National Park consists of a mixed deciduous forest interspersed with semi-evergreen and evergreen trees, scrub jungle, large patches of grasslands and rocky hills. It is the largest dry deciduous forest in Western India.
Its region is the sole home of the Asiatic Lion in the wilderness. As per 2017 census, there are 650 Asiatic lion individuals in the region. In tune with the objectives of Wildlife Conservation, tourism is allowed on a limited and regulated basis near Sasan-Gir. It is home to the highest concentration of top carnivores - lions and leopards, and also has the single largest population of marsh crocodiles in the country.
Climate in Gir varies round the year. The temperature plummets to about 10°C in winter and rises to a scorching 43°C in summer. Besides summer and winter, Gir enjoys a tropical monsoon climate.
Main tourist attractions in The Gir National park are “Gir Jungle Trail” and “Gir Interpretation Zone (Devaliya Safari)”. Apart from these, there are other attractions in this beautiful forest like Kankai Mata Temple adventurous Jungle Ride, Crocodile Breeding Centre, Bird Watching and Sasan Gir Museum, etc.

ગીરના જંગલોની વચ્ચે બિરાજમાન કનકાઈ માતા નો ઇતિહાસ.
વિસાવદર થી ૩૫ અને તુલસીશ્યામ થી ૨૦ કિલોમીટરના અંતરે ગીરના જંગલમાં આ સ્થળ આવેલું છે.
લોકોના કંઠે કનકાઈનો જે ઈતિહાસ છે તે મુજબ ઈસુની આઠમી સદીમાં થયેલા વનરાજ ચાવડાનાં પરિવારમાં કનક ચાવડા નામનો એક રાજા થઇ ગયો .તેણે કનકાઈ (કનકાવતી) નગરીની સ્થાપના કરી હતી અને કનકાઈને આ નગરીના અધિષ્ઠાત્રી દેવી તરીકે સ્થાપ્યા હતા.
બીજી એક લોકવાયકા એવી છે કે વળાના મૈત્રક વંશનાં મુળ પુરુષ કનકસેન અયોધ્યાના સુર્યવંશી રાજવી હતાં તેણે સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં વીરનગરમાં આવીને પરમાર રાજાને હરાવ્યો અને વંશજ વિજય સેને વિજયપુર( ધોળકા )વસાવ્યું વિજયસેનનાં વંશજ કનકસેને મધ્યગિરમાં આવીને કનકાવતી નગરી વસાવી.
શિખરબંધ મુખ્ય મંદીરમાં kankeshwari માતાજી બિરાજમાન છે તેમજ આ સ્થાનકમાં શિવ ,ગણેશ અને હનુમાનનાં મંદીરો પણ આવેલા છે .મંદીરની બરાબર નીચે શીગવડો નદી વહે છે. માતાજીના મંદીર પાછળ ભુદરજીનું મંદીર છે તેની બાજુમાં પાંચેક પાળીયા ઉભા છે આમ આ સ્થાનકનાં કનકેશ્વરી માતાજીને ઉનેવાળ બ્રાહ્મણ ,આહિર, દરબાર અને મહારાષ્ટ્રનાં કીર્તિકર બ્રાહ્મણો કુળદેવી તરીકે પુજે છે.
પ્રાકૃતિક વૈભવ થી છલોછલ આ સ્થળની મુલાકાત લેવા માટે ફોરેસ્ટની પરવાનગી મેળવીને જઈ શકાય છે. પરંતુ રસ્તામાં વાહનમાંથી ઉતરી અને કરવા પર પ્રતિબંધ છે. અહીં પ્રકૃતિ પૂરી છટાથી ખીલી છે. હરણ ,સાબર તમારુ સ્વાગત કરશે જ પરંતુ શક્ય હોય તો સિંહ દર્શન પણ અનાયાસે થઈ જતા હોય છે..

Hello friends in this video me and my friend tour to kankai banej forest.
Route to Kankai and Somnath/Day2
It was a very lovely day to visit Kankai mata temple as our kuldevi’s statue is placed inside.The Kankai temple is located dense inside the forest..It took us nearly 3 hrs in our car to reach the temple..So we left by 7:15 and reached the temple by 11.While en routing we spotted a leopard on the way to the temple,it was seriously an amazing moment to spot it while our aim was to spot a lion or a lioness ..from there we went to Somnath temple but unfortunately leather items were not allowed so I was lazy to remove my belt there for I decided not to go and just pray from outside.So also I was gonna make the ahead vlog but as my iPhone’s battery was low so I couldn’t.But it was an amazing day yesterday..
