OKAGO: The 309 Martyrs - Short Documentary Film
At the beginning of the Edo period, more than 300 people were martyred at Okago.
The history of this period of persecution and oppression, the way people protected their faith and their noble character, must not be lost but preserved for future generations.
The footage of the diorama appearing in the video was taken on Okago Christian Museum in Fujisawa Town, Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan.

Kamakura and Enoshima~
Near Yokohama is Kamakura, a beautiful place with many old sacred sites (sort of like Kyoto). This time we went to Enoshima Island which is nearby. The sights are gorgeous and the rain makes the place seem even more ethereal! I suppose this video is a mixture of BusanKevin style thrown in with Hanafubuki. XD Hope you guys enjoy!
My next video will be what it's like to stay in a manga cafe overnight (like if your poor and can't afford an apartment XD). Please wait for it~!

Great Buddha of Kamakura Japan | Hachimangu Shrine | Hasedera Temple | Japan ANNventures
Welcome to Japan Annventures
Things to do in Kamakura?
In this video you will see The Great Buddha in Kamakura Japan, The Hachimangu Shrine and the Hasedera Temple
The Great Buddha of Kamakura (鎌倉大仏, Kamakura Daibutsu) is a bronze statue of Amida Buddha, which stands on the grounds of Kotokuin Temple. With a height of 11.4 meters, it has long been the second tallest bronze Buddha statue in Japan, surpassed only by the statue in Nara's Todaiji Temple and some recent creations.
The statue was cast in 1252 and originally located inside a large temple hall. However, the temple buildings were destroyed multiple times by typhoons and a tsunami in the 14th and 15th centuries. So, since the late 15th century, the Buddha has been standing in the open air.
The Great Buddha is located a 5-10 minute walk from Hase Station.
Admission fee : 300yen
Hours:
8:00 to 17:30 (until 17:00 from October to March)
The Hachimangu Shrine
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu (鶴岡八幡宮, Tsurugaoka Hachimangū) is Kamakura's most important shrine. It was founded by Minamoto Yoriyoshi in 1063, and enlarged and moved to its current site in 1180 by Minamoto Yoritomo, the founder and first shogun of the Kamakura government.
The shrine is dedicated to Hachiman, the patron god of the Minamoto family and of the samurai in general. The deified spirits of the ancient Emperor Ojin who has been identified with Hachiman, Hime-gami and Empress Jingu are enshrined at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine can be reached from Kamakura Station either through the busy Komachi-dori shopping street, or along the Dankazura, a pedestrian path in the center of Wakamiya Oji Street that is lined with several hundred cherry trees. Via either route, the walk from Kamakura Station to the shrine takes about 10-15 minutes.
Hasedera Temple
Hasedera (長谷寺) is a temple of the Jodo sect, famous for its eleven-headed statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. The 9.18 meter tall, gilded wooden statue is regarded as one of the largest wooden sculpture in Japan and can be viewed in the temple's main building, the Kannon-do Hall. According to legend, it was carved from the same tree as the similarly tall Kannon statue worshiped at the Hasedera Temple in Nara Prefecture.
Adjacent to the main hall is the Kannon Museum, a small museum that requires an additional entrance fee. It exhibits some more of the temple's treasures, including Buddhist statues, a temple bell and a picture scroll. Explanatory signs are in Japanese, and an English pamphlet with basic explanations is available. On the opposite side of the main hall stands the Amida-do Hall with an almost three meter tall, golden statue of Amida Buddha.
Hasedera is located a five minute walk from Hase Station, the third station from Kamakura along the Enoden railway line. The Enoden is a streetcar-like train that connects Kamakura with Enoshima and Fujisawa. Its terminal station in Kamakura is located just next to JR Kamakura Station.
Admission Fee: 400yen

Enoshima Beach and Island // Impressions of Japan
Enoshima, the Island in the Bay, is a small island off the shore of Kanagawa Prefecture. Despite its small appearance, it is full of temples, shrines, caves, and peculiar cats. Enoshima Island is connected to the mainland by a 600 meter long bridge that can be crossed by car, other vehicles, and by foot. On a clear day, Mount Fuji can be seen in the distance.

Entry from: Sano, Japan
Entry Title: Sano
Entry:
The Price of Friendship My primary purpose for going to Japan was to visit an old friend whom I haven't seen in a while. When he invited me to stay in his apartment in Sano, I thought it would be a great opportunity to catch up on old times. Looking back, I should have declined his offer because by staying there, I think it had cost our friendship. From then on, I made a vow to never stay in any friend's home unless it was absolutely necessary. The risk is just too great for the lost of a friendship. A Friendly Town What impressed me most about Sano were its people. They were lay-back, easy going, and very friendly. I felt at home with the people there. They accepted me into their community and I am very grateful for their friendship. I will miss them dearly. Another thing that impressed me about Sano was the size of their homes. They look like any typical American home with large front yards and two story buildings. I always though Japanese homes were small. But after seeing Sano's houses, that myth went straight out the window.
