Kanonersky island
Kanonersky island is one of the quiet and free of hurry places in Saint Petersburg. In 18th century it was named Batareinuy after the artillery gunpowder depot built on the island. Later the island had been renamed as Kanonerskiy after the german Kanonier, because the artillery range placed here.
In present days all of the ships pass near the island through the ship canal to the dam and further. Some docks and piers are working around, highway is under construction. Live is going on, city forcing the nature to disappear from this corner.

The Gulf of Finland (Finnish: Suomenlahti; Estonian: Soome laht; Russian: Фи́нский зали́в, Swedish: Finska viken) is the easternmost arm of the Baltic Sea. It extends between Finland (to the north) and Estonia (to the south) all the way to Saint Petersburg in Russia, where the river Neva drains into it. Other major cities around the gulf include Helsinki and Tallinn. The eastern parts of the Gulf of Finland belong to Russia, and some of Russia's most important oil harbours are located farthest in, near Saint Petersburg (including Primorsk). As the seaway to Saint Petersburg, the Gulf of Finland has been and continues to be of considerable strategic importance to Russia. Some of the environmental problems affecting the Baltic Sea are at their most pronounced in the shallow gulf .. (Quelle Wiki)

Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge in Saint-Petersburg Russia Aerial Drone /
Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge is one of the most beautiful bridges in St. Petersburg. It was opened in 1911 when Russia was still the Empire. It is also often named Peter the Great Bridge. The bridge crosses the Neva River and looks astonishing from the sky in good weather. All movie was shot at once. Enjoy.

St Petersbourg Peterhof Kronstadt Lakhta
Example of a day trip to St Petersburg using the ring road to see the Memorial 1941 1945, Peterhof Palace, Kronstadt and the dam, then LAKHTA Center, Kirov Stadium and St Petersburg West Belt.
Visit Peterhof (Summer Residence of Peter the Great) in small groups of 6 with our guide Elena. Peterhof was occupied by the Germans in 1941. The castle was looted and destroyed. Huge work was undertaken to restore it to its pre-1941 state. I found on youtube a video that shows the state of Peterhof in 1944 and the restoration before 1956.from Peterhof we see Kronstadt, it is interesting to learn about the resistance to the German advance
To protect Leningrad from floods, in 1978 the Soviet government launched the construction of the 25 km long St Petersburg dam: this dam blocks the entire bottom of the Gulf 20 km offshore, at the height of the island of Kotline on which Kronstadt is built.
I visited St Petersburg in 2006; the difference with today is enormous.
