A bit of this destination:
Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Park is situated on the side of Dashawan Mountain, which is at the east of Keelung City. There is a white statue of Goddess of Mercy in the park. This 25-meter high statue has become one of the characteristics of Keelung.
The park overlooks Keelung City and the harbor. There are three levels in the park. On the first level is a historic canon fort. On the second level is a Buddhist library, Martyrs' Shrine and Zhuputan Temple. The temple attracts many worshipers on July 15. On the third level is Guanhai Pavilion. Sitting in the pavilion, visitors can see the entire Keelung and the ocean.
The statue of Goddess of Mercy is the landmark of Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Park. It is the biggest Goddess statue in Southeast Asia. Inside the statue is a stairway leading to the top. Zhuputan is where worshipers gather on Zhongyuan Festival. The first immigrants to Taiwan used to fight with each other for land. In order to stop the disputes, they set up a temple for yearly worship. The temple was in Gaosha Park during the Japanese occupation and moved to Zhongzheng (Jhongjheng) Park.

基隆 Keelung City, Taiwan | Zhongzheng Park, Miaokou Night Market, etc
Hi friends! Just a week ago, I and two of my friends decided to go and explore Keelung! Keelung City is located in the north part of Taiwan and it's just a 40 minutes bus ride from Taipei, so it’s a perfect and instant destination if you want to have a short getaway and to get stuff out of your mind. What we did was visiting places nearby, so no need to think much, just walk walk and walk because all places that we went all walkable. There were a lot of small alleys and old buildings. Keelung is also near to the sea, so highly recommend you guys to go to their sea side and enjoy your time!

Well Worth A Visit - KEELUNG CITY (WeWillNomad)
We're in Keelung City (Taiwan) for a few days and explore some of the surrounding parks and sights. Close to the Keelung port, we climb up to the Martyrs' Shrine and the nearby Zhupu Altar. In the nearby Zhongzheng Park, we climb to the top of a goddess statue and ring a HUGE bell. The Ershawan Fort grounds provide great views over Keelung harbour and we have a look at the remains of the structures and canons. From there we make our way to Heping Island and after seeing the busloads of people queuing at the entrance decided to rather enjoy the views from the harbour wall.
We enjoyed Keelung a lot and the following video will show a bit more of the well-known Night Market.

Zhengbin Fishing Port - Keelung, Taiwan
Visited Zhengbin Fishing Port in Keelung
on 14 September 2018.
This port located at south of Heping Island,
is a historical fishing port.
Taiwan 09 Keelung Zhongzheng Park
Taiwan is a very attractive country for people who like to travel around and see interesting places instead of laying on far away or busy beaches.
In the past my family and I only visited the main cities of Taiwan like Taipei, Keelung, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung always carrying our baggage with us.
In recent years we discovered it is more relaxed to stay a couple days in one city before going to the next city and take a local train or regional bus every day to discover smaller places and areas around the bigger cities. Public transport and taxis in Taiwan are relatively cheap compared to the rates in Europe so the daily surprise trips are affordable.
With the video series “Attractive Taiwan – Interesting places” we want to share our impressions of the surprise places we have visited in the past years which can be seen as suggestions to others when planning a holiday to Taiwan.
We hope you will enjoy watching each video.

Taipei (Taiwan News)--After 27 years, the first Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA) train slowly pulled into Badouzi Station at 10: 25 a.m. on Wednesday to hundreds of cheering spectators who had been waiting on the platform under overcast skies to witness the historic moment.
After passing through a tunnel, the train whistled and the crowds on the platform began to get their cameras or cellphones ready.
Even though it was cold and drizzling, some passengers stepped out of the train to see an expansive sea view and uttered, “Wow, it is so beautiful!” . For more infor about this place., please click and visit this site:

Keelung Drone Flight: Keelung (Standard Mandarin Pīnyīn: Jīlóng; Hokkien POJ: Ke-lâng), officially known as Keelung City, is a major port city situated in the northeastern part of Taiwan. It borders New Taipei with which it forms the Taipei–Keelung metropolitan area, along with Taipei itself. Nicknamed the Rainy Port for its frequent rain and maritime role, the city is Taiwans second largest seaport (after Kaohsiung). // Keelung City is a port city near Taipei, in northern Taiwan. Connected to the mainland by a bridge, Hoping Island (Peace Island) is known for its unusual cliffs and moonlike rock formations. Views from the island stretch out to the steep green slopes of volcanic Keelung Islet. Back on the mainland, Zhongzheng Park is home to the huge Goddess of Mercy and Maitreya Buddha statues, as well as several shrines and garden paths. Northwest of the center, the mountainous Lovers Lake Park has woodlands, a suspension bridge over the lake and views over the surrounding countryside. [wikipedia // Google]

Keelung Zhongzheng park rides
Zhongzheng park was created in the 1960's to promote tourism when overseas travel was not allowed. One of its local attractions is the bumper cars. In the weekend kids can ride in a blocked off section, something you won't find on the cruise ships that visit Keelung yet.

Dongyin
Dongyin is actually two islands, joined by a causeway. Two hours from Nangan by ferry, this is Taiwan’s northernmost point, a windswept outpost of tremendous natural beauty, with Matsu’s most thrilling scenery, a place of lofty granite cliffs and rocky spurs projecting out into the teal-green sea.
The cape-tip is at the northern end of a peninsula called the Reclining Alligator – the resemblance is indeed striking – and atop the alligator’s well-defined snout, at the peninsula’s southern tip, is Stronghold No. 33. The highlight of this abandoned facility is the decommissioned US-made twin-barrel M1 40mm anti-aircraft gun on display, which a signboard tells you “weighs 51,350 pounds, has a range of 11,000 meters, (and can fire) 160 rounds per minute.”
The Andong Tunnel, on the east side of Dongyin Island, is a superlative work of engineering, shooting right through a small mountain and exiting far down below at sea level. The area outside the entrance is protected habitat for the Black-tailed Gull and Black-naped Tern. Inside the tunnel are now-unused barracks, bathrooms, a kitchen, a meeting hall … even a pigsty.
Located at the easternmost tip of Dongyin Island, the brilliant-white Dongyong Lighthouse’s physical setting – stark, lonely beauty. The lighthouse is perched, at first glance seemingly quite precariously, on the precipitous-angle flank of a mountain, the great sea looming before, nothing in view. The mountain’s upper half looms behind and above, nothing of human creation in view. On the dizzyingly steep complex walkways, you look straight down into the sea at your feet. Completed in 1877, designed by an Englishman in 18th-century British style, this lighthouse is Taiwan’s northernmost national heritage site.
A stone-step trail behind the lighthouse leads to the Suicide Cliff, where ocean waves have cut deep into a mountainside, sculpting a vertical 100-meter-high wall on one side. The site is so-named because, according to island lore, pirates infested the local waters during much of the imperial Qing dynasty, and during one attack a Dongyin woman, her husband killed, chose to leap from the cliff rather than surrender her chastity.
A Thread of Sky, a deep and exceedingly narrow sea-erosion trench, splices two giant blocks of granite, towering rock walls facing each other just meters apart. The outer block is being cut from the mainland like a slice of birthday cake. Fallen slabs high up actually connect the cliffs in places. From the bottom only a thin, bright-blue ribbon of sky is seen.
