Travelling from Bristol Airport to Lisbon, Portugal, via Porto
Travelling from Bristol Airport to Lisbon, Portugal, via Porto
In this vlog we set out from Bristol Central Travelodge and drive to the Airport Tavern to park the car. We then take the airport shuttle transfer to Bristol Airport. From here we take an Easyjet flight to Porto. We then take the Metro from Porto Airport to Campanhã, and then a mainline train all the way down to Lisbon, Portugal.
There will be MANY more Lisbon vlogs to follow!
Thanks for watching and apologies for my mispronunciation of Campanhã multiple times through out this episode!

I'm Imo and she's Izzy. We love getting out and about and exploring South Wales and beyond.
We're a home-schooling/home-educating family of two based in the UK dealing with the daily challenges of managing Izzy's severe, chronic eczema and her education. Our resourcefulness is tested on a daily basis but we'd love to share our little triumphs and discoveries with you as we go along.
I will always write closed captions in UK English for my vlogs, not only to make them more accessible in general but also to create a useful resource for advanced learners of the English language who may enjoy regular bursts of pseudo-immersion in English in a narrative context with the additional benefit of corresponding on-screen text.
These videos will not generally feature background music making them extra suitable for people who aren't keen on pop music! x

Lisbon Day 13: A Day in Cascais, Portugal.
It's our last full day in Lisbon and we so don't want to leave! But Izzy and I decide to make the most of it, and head off to Cascais on the train from Cais do Sodre station.
We spend much of the time on Praia da Rainha, enjoy a final ice-cream in Santini's and meet up with Billy for a stroll along the coast to see the Boca do Inferno in the fading light. We stroll back through the dark.
Thanks so much for watching. x

Detours - Porto Craft Beer
We start our activity with a convenient pick up at your accommodation.
During all the tour you will be accompanied by a local guide keen to give all the hints and tips about Porto and Portugal!
We head on to a very small local brewery where we will talk to the owner and producer to understand a little more about the production process of the craft beer. He will share his secrets regarding the raw material and fermentation procedures! (tasting included!)
Get the chance to know a bit more about our city as we head to the next brewery.
At our second stop, we will enter a larger, better equipped and more organized company where the brewmaster will guide us through the process. At this point, we will be able to try the craft beer directly from the fermenter while getting all the knowledge about it.
The brewmaster will do his best to try to make you appreciate all flavors.
The final part of the activity will lead us to the best craft beer pub in Porto, where our journey ends with a tasting of 3 different kinds of Portuguese craft beers!
Time to relax and enjoy our cities vibe!

Portugal, the home of a people
Living half an hour from the Swiss Alps I didn`t think I would be particularly enamoured with Portugal. Too flat! No soaring white peaks!
But my wife was dead keen to go this April. And she needed a driver of our hire car.
And look, the Alps are still snowed in, but down there the flowers will be out and the trees in bloom!
So off I went, trailing a pace behind her, for a 12-day car tour of mostly North Portugal, down the coast from Porto to Sintra, missing out Lisbon (next time!), and then cutting inland to some places I`d never heard of.
In reality, I was enchanted. Portugal in April - what a Geheimtip! And the roads were so quiet (worrying for the economy but great for peace-loving travellers).
I`ve written enough. I hope the video will whet your appetite better than words.
For those interested, individual photos from each of the clips, showing their location, can be seen here: imagesfromthewild.ch/SouthEurope/Portugal/North/Portugal%20-%20upper.htm
Music piece is called the home of a people by Zack Hemsey - see zackhemsey.com.
And - not least to mention - we found the Portuguese very friendly.
4 days in Portugal
Here is the subtitles for a video
This time I had a mini trip to the eastern part of Europe Portugal
This is a small country with a huge history, amazing beaches and splendid nature. Also with people as bright as the sun which shines 300 days in year.
The Portuguese keen on having fun, they are quite good at dancing and singing, everywhere every time. And of course, to pumper their tummy as well.
The thing I expected to see here is terrific waves, but I realized that I’m such a loser????
But the main point is that I have spent such a great time with fantastic people.
And I hope I could touch your hearts with this sincere atmosphere

Lisbon, Portugal: Using the Metro/Time Out Market.
Lisbon, Portugal: Using the Metro/Time Out Market.
It's day 1 of our stay in Lisbon, March 2018. The day begins with torrential rain, but Imo has got to get out and about using the Lisbon Metro to get her flute to the woodwind repairs shop for servicing. She strolls up through the Bairro Alto district and marvels at how heavy the rain is.
She eventually makes it to the Rato Metro Station and travels to Campo Pequeno, stopping for a quick glance at the bullring as she walks through the rain to the music shop.
When she gets back to the apartment, Izzy gives a comprehensive Bairro Alto apartment tour (Air BnB).
Then, unexpectedly, we experienced a power cut!
Once that was sorted, we headed out down towards the river and found ourselves in Time Out Market, where were tried some delicious food and soaked up the atmosphere.
Following this, we took a stroll through the twilight and soon the darkness along the bank of the Tejo / Tagus river, through Praça do Comércio and the Baixa. We stopped for a quick ginjinha (delicious Portuguese cherry liqueur) and then climbed the many flights of steps all the way back up to the Bairro Alto where we were staying.
Thank you so much for watching, and don't forget to subscribe for more adventures, as this was only day one and there are many, many more to come!

Action-Packed Day in Lisbon: Portugal Vlog.
Action-Packed Day in Lisbon: Portugal Vlog.
The end of our stay looms ever closer, but we are making the most of our time left here.
Today we will be packing in plenty of action as usual. OK, so we had a very lazy start to the day, but following this, we head out on foot, walking down the Elevador de Bica route towards the Cais do Sodre area where we have a tasty Portuguese restaurant lunch. After this, we walk along the banks of the Tejo/Tagus towards Praca do Comercio and beyond, towards the Fado Museum.
We do a bit of exploring of some very ancient-looking and narrow streets, which we find quite enchanting.
I do a bit of tram-spotting and try an interesting hot/cold combination at a local cafe.
After this, we walk back down to Cais do Sodre to catch the Trantejo Ferry over the river to Cacilhas. From here we walk to the fairly recently-opened Corkman Irish Pub and play some tunes.
This vlog is a 'part one' of two!
Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you in the next one. x

Sintra After Dark! Lisbon, Portugal Vlog.
This is the second installment of a two-parter vlog. In the previous episode, we had been playing live traditional Irish music over in The Corkman Irish Pub in Cacilhas, Almada. This vlog begins just after we have left that bar and are rushing quickly to the ferry port to take the Transtejo ferry over to
Cais do Sodré.
After this, we go via the Metro to Rossio station and take the train from there to Sintra. We head to the Casa do Fauno pub on foot and guest with the Lisbon-based Irish band - Crann Mór.
Thanks to Crann Mór Irish Band for letting me film their exploits this evening!

My first Villa holiday in Northern Portugal
Sharing my first Villa holiday experience in Northern Portugal with James Villa Holidays. Having never stayed in a villa before I was very keen to find out what would work better for our holidays moving forward as a family. The kids are a bit older now and I got to really test out hotel v.s. villa holiday this past week as well as view a few James Villa villas along the trip for future stays. I was really impressed right away how much it felt like home away from home. It still had so many amenities and things to do right at your finger tip that hotels have but you don't think about when thinking about villa life. Some villas even had tennis courts, ping pong, and so much more. I was impressed with all the villas having so much home decor and accessories not just the bare minimum. I felt like I was staying in luxury each villa we went to not some empty unlived house with a bed and a couch in it. They were welcoming, comfortable, stylish and inviting. Northern Portugal is beautiful. It's not a place I necessarily would think to take the kids for a family holiday until now. There was so much to do and so much to see right on our door step. Even for a holiday away with friends depending on the type of villa holiday you are looking for there is wine tasting, port tasting, restaurant galore, shopping and more to do. Check out my first experience of Norther Portugal here. You can find out more about James Villa Holidays here or on my blog on social media come say hello @letstalkmommy Don't forget to give me a thumbs up!
Lisbon, Portugal. Exploring Tapada das Neccessidades.
Lisbon, Portugal. Exploring Tapada das Neccessidades.
We head out on foot from our AirBnB in Bairro Alton, Lisbon, Portugal and walk towards a green area on the map, which turned out to be the park and garden - Tapada das Neccessidades.
The cemetery we peeped at from over the wall was Dos Prazeres Cemetary.
The mysterious building with the fancy chandeliers and century box was Palácio das Necessidades.
The place just outside the park where the big fountain and view of the bridge was Largo das Necessidades.
I've managed to get three vlogs out of our last day in Lisbon! This is the second of three.
In the next one we have a cake and a drink in a cafe and head down for a last stroll along the scenic banks of the river Tagus / Rio Tejo.
Thanks so much for watching!

A day on the beach at Cascais, (Praia da Rainha) Near Lisbon, Portugal.
It's the last but one day of our Lisbon holiday, March 2018. We head off to Cascais on the train from Cais do Sodré, taking the Linha Cascais to the rail station and then walking to Praia da Rainha.
We take in the beautiful scenery, engage in a bit of sand art and contemplate the negative impact plastic can have on marine species.
Later we head to Gelados Santini for a rather delicious ice-cream treat.
Thanks so much for joining us on our mini Cascais adventure.
