STORYLINE:
To an accompanying lament of bagpipers, the body of soccer legend George Best returned home on Friday for a state-style funeral that is expected to bring Belfast to a standstill.
Best, 59, died in a London hospital a week ago after a long battle with alcoholism.
The former Manchester United and Northern Ireland great will be buried on Saturday after a service at Stormont, the grand centre of government.
The ceremony is expected to attract hundreds of thousands along the streets of his native Protestant east Belfast.
Best's casket arrived at the British military side of Belfast International Airport from London.
As two bagpipers played laments, Best's son, Calum, kissed the coffin before embracing his Belfast relatives, including Best's 87-year-old father, Dickie.
A half-dozen police motorcyclists escorted the hearse and two family limousines to the Best family home in east Belfast for an overnight wake.

Rights for people will be achieved – Gerry Adams
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams speaking to party activists at the opening of a new West Belfast constituency office in the Kennedy Centre said

IRELAND 100: Festival Highlight Reel
May 17–June 5, 2016, the Kennedy Center presents IRELAND 100: Celebrating a Century of Irish Arts & Culture, a major festival highlighting Irish culture and its relationship to America. Curated by Alicia Adams, Vice President of International Programming and Dance, and featuring Artist-in-Residence Fiona Shaw, the festival includes dozens of performances from some of Ireland's best contemporary musicians, dancers, and theater companies - along with several other exciting events ranging from a literature series, documentary screenings, installations, culinary arts, a redhead/family day, and much more.
The festival is part of the global celebration commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising, which led to Ireland's independence, and the centerpiece of the commemorative events in the United States. As America's national cultural center, the Kennedy Center is also a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, the most well-known Irish American President and the first sitting American President to visit Ireland.

Europe 2019 (Pt. 66) - Walkabout of Belfast, Northern Ireland (UK)
August 12, 2019 - Welcome to Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland, one of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom! We arrived nice and early at about Noon today, so had plenty of time to explore the city before the weather turned. It's a very compact downtown core, thus very walkable - even when our hotel (near the Assembly Buildings) is on the fringe of downtown.
Catch a glimpse of the following sights: the Assembly Buildings, Belfast City Hall, Victoria Square, Castle Court, and the Grand Opera House.
Eateries along the way where the very patriotic Canadian institution of Tim Horton's (new in Northern Ireland in 2018), the most-bomed hotel in European history, The Europa (great place for dinner!), and the very ornate Crown Bar across the street, a perfect place to come on a Monday evening such as this for a pint of Guinness.
Cheers, Belfast!

N IRELAND: BELFAST: MULTI PARTY PEACE TALKS AT STORMONT (2)
English/Nat
The search for a Northern Ireland peace settlement continued on Monday with the resumption of multi-party talks at Stormont in east Belfast.
The British and Irish governments, which co-sponsor the talks, presented a two-page plan for the eight participating parties to assess.
The document sets out priorities and an agenda for the coming weeks, including proposals for constitutional change in the province.
Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams arrived for the Stormont talks the day after one of his relatives had been shot dead by a Protestant group opposed to the peace process.
There were hopes that the new year might bring new attitudes, with attention focused on the British and Irish governments' May deadline for a settlement to be reached.
But rising violence from renegade gangs on both sides and Protestant politicians' threats to withdraw from talks have sullied the negotiating environment.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
I've come from his home (Terry Enwright, the murder victim) to go in here to talk to my colleagues about negotiations. Other people are still refusing to talk in that building, other political leaders are still refusing to accept the rights of other political parties, and of other citizens, and their refusal to talk has created the vacuum which has been filled by the death squads.
SUPER CAPTION: Gerry Adams, Sinn Fein President
Politicians faced that shadow of violence on Monday as they undertook to try to find a lasting settlement in the province.
And there was a determination emanating from the British contingent.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
In a sense all these appalling murders over the holidays that have taken place over the holiday period do concentrate the mind but what they don't do is deflect from the purpose of coming to an agreement, and that's why it's so important that all the parties who were here before Christmas, all of them are now coming back, with that determination to go ahead with business.
SUPER CAPTION: Paul Murphy, Political Development Minister for Northern Ireland Office
For local parties attending the talks, there is still some dissatisfaction with the handling of the process by co-sponsors of the effort, Britain and Ireland.
Before the talks began Gary McMichael of the Ulster Democratic Party singled out the Irish government.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
We've seen the speculation over the weekend about a possible Tony Blair initiative. We're anxious to see what the contents of that might be. But I think that in this moment in time we are dissatisfied with the attitude of the Irish government and what seems to be a lack of grasp for what is possible within this, within this process.
SUPER CAPTION: Gary McMichael, Ulster Democratic Party
The negotiations began in June 1996 at this centre of British administration in east Belfast, under the direction of former U-S Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell.
Politicians last met in December, when they could not even agree an agenda outlining subjects for discussion.
This time the politicians included in the talks expressed hope that something could be achieved.
Although David Ervine of the Progressive Unionist Part warned against those who were not prepared to negotiate honestly.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Yes I've always been hopeful, that provided there is a will among participants, that we could achieve something.
I would think that as the deadline approaches the will of the participants should increase, or at least - if they're not prepared to be honourable and straightforward about this process - then it should be easily identifiable by people like yourselves that they're not.
SUPER CAPTION: David Ervine, Progressive Unionist Party
SOUNDBITE: (English)

CCTV: Gun attack on Belfast bar
This is the terrifying moment when a crazed gunman fired shots into a packed city-centre bar.
Our exclusive footage shows notorious thug Patrick McMahon pumping bullets into Fibber Magees bar in Belfast in 2007. Dressed in a forensic suit and wearing a mask, the shocking CCTV images captured the moments McMahon calmly walked up to the window of the bar before firing indiscriminately as revellers dived for cover.
