BILL BAGGS CAPE FLORIDA STATE PARK| KEY BISCAYNE FL
In this video I take you on a short walking and biking trip around the historical Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. In conducting some research on this park I was truly amazed at some of the events that took place during the 19th century. (FYI) William Calhoun Baggs was an American journalist and editor of The Miami News (1957 to 1969). He was one of a small group of Southern newspaper editors who campaigned for civil rights for African Americans in the 1950s and 1960s. Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Beach is located on the tip of Key Biscayne. It is home to an historic lighthouse, the oldest standing building in Miami-Dade County, which offers scheduled tours Thursday-Monday 10am and 1pm.
The beach offers plenty of activities such as walking and bicycle trails winding through native vegetation. Amenities include restrooms, picnic tables, food concessions and shower facilities. Fishing enthusiasts can fish from the seawall along Biscayne Bay. If you are visiting Miami I would highly recommend taking a short trip over to Key Biscayne and check out the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. I hope you enjoy the video. Key Biscayne Lighthouse Tour (Let's go to the beach!)
We are Miami people who NEVER go to the beach, so we decided to go to Key Biscayne and check out the beach at the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. We also went on the lighthouse tour, the oldest standing structure in Greater Miami built in 1825.
Click the link below for the abandoned Miami marine stadium:
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Recreation Area occupies approximately the southern third of the island of Key Biscayne, at coordinates 25°40′25″N 80°09′34″W. The park includes the Cape Florida Light, the oldest standing structure in Greater Miami.
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park
Address: 1200 Crandon Blvd, Key Biscayne, FL 33149
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is the home of a historic lighthouse built in 1825 and reconstructed in 1846, and is the oldest standing structure in Miami-Dade County. Visitors come to the park to sunbathe, swim and picnic on more than one mile of sandy Atlantic beachfront, currently ranked #7 on the list of Top 10 Beaches in America by Dr. Stephen Leatherman, aka 'Dr. Beach.' Biking and kayaking are popular activities. Anglers can throw in their lines from the seawall along Biscayne Bay for some of the best shoreline fishing in the region.
Guided tours of the lighthouse and lighthouse keeper's cottage are given twice daily, Thursdays through Mondays. Two restaurants, Lighthouse Café and Boater's Grill, offer authentic Cuban cuisine, or picnickers can reserve a pavilion and fire up their own grill. Bicycles, beach chairs, and umbrellas can be rented.

Florida Travel: Welcome to Stiltsville in Biscayne National Park
Your boat slows over sparking turquoise water that is inches deep. Something shimmers ahead. A heat mirage?
Houses in crayon colors – yellow, green, red and blue – hover weightless above the bay.
Squinting now. No, these homes aren’t levitating at all; they are supported by pilings and suspended a few feet above the sea. Welcome to Stiltsville in Biscayne National Park.
Accessible only by boat, these seven wooden homes are a few miles off downtown Miami but light years from the city’s stress and hum. Stiltsville dates to the 1930s. Crawfish Eddie Walker built the first shack above the water. Over the years, larger homes were constructed and enlarged, and the area took on an aura of mystery.
Today, a visitor can lean back on the veranda and watch the currents carry bonefish across the flats. Take a dip off the back porch. Snorkel pristine coral reefs only a few minutes’ ride by boat. Or, at the end of an afternoon with the day’s catch on the grill, watch the lights of Miami blink on while the setting sun paints the sky in hues of orange.

The Bear Cut Preserve nature trail is located in Crandon Park (North Beach) on Key Biscayne.
The preserve provides hiking along the waterfront and in the shade of tropical trees that is very easy for a person of any age or exercise level.
It is up to 2.2 miles in three loops, plus the 1.3-mile paved Fossil Reef Bike Trail with a backdrop of downtown Miami.
It can get pretty sunny here in South Florida so it is important to bring water and sunscreen. After the hike, you can go to the beach and take a dip in the water or watching all of the kite-surfers gliding throughout.
You'll run into some bike riders throughout, just make sure to share the road/trail respectfully.

Unbelievable Key Biscayne Fishing Trip [Exploring New Area via SUP]
Just wanted to share an unbelievable Key Biscayne fishing trip that I had while down in Miami on a business trip.
I only had a few hours to fish, and had never fished from Key Biscayne before, so I would have been happy with just catching a fish or two.
So I was extremely excited when my pre-trip plan led me to a spot that had an unbelievable amount of wildlife...
At one point, I had a couple hundred snapper right under my paddle board, and two water turkeys along with a half dozen jacks were slashing through the snapper trying to pick off a meal.

Biscayne National Park Boardwalk: Our One Day Of Exploration
Biscayne National Park Boardwalk: Our One Day Of Exploration - Biscayne is the largest marine park in the National Park System. Our day started with canoeing around the mangroves and then walking on the boardwalk behind the visitor center.
The visitor center of this national park is informative. They have exhibits both inside and outside the building. They also have a park movie which we highly recommend for you to watch to fully appreciate the importance of this underwater beauty.
Biscayne National Park is our park #5 of 59.
