9th of May. London
The exhibition is titled ‘9th of May’, in references Victory Day, a holiday marking the surrender of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union. In 2015, the Ukrainian government approved a package of laws on “decommunisation” in an effort to re-write an official version of Ukrainian 20th century history that’s separated from Russia. The laws ban Nazi and Communist symbols; and they replaced the Soviet term “Great Patriotic War” with the European Second World War.
For Maria, the idea of celebrating victory over fascism is a facade and a propaganda tool to inflate a sense of nationalism in order to cover up the current authoritarian dictatorship in Crimea and other occupied territories of Ukraine by Russian State.
The 9th of May exhibition will feature a series of sculptures, ceramics and sketches to show the fragile relationship between the human body and the external context of war. For this exhibition, Kulikovska has recreated sculpture pieces from previous bodies of work, which the artist regards a poetic extension of her own corporeal body. Sculptures from Homo Bulla, 254, and Flowers of Democracy, which were originally created and destroyed by the war, will now be re-birthed and reclaimed as a message of hope and action.
The artist sees this two-part project as a celebration of the power of art. “Marcel Duchamp once claimed, “I don’t believe in art, I believe in artists.” But I believe in art more than artists.” – Maria Kulikovska.

The Museum of Theater, Music and Cinema of Ukraine | Virtual Museum Tour
The Museum of Theater, Music and Cinema of Ukraine was founded by outstanding activists of Ukrainian art. 800 photo negatives and photos became its first exhibits. The next displays were the personal belongings of prominent Ukrainian actors, which can be used to study the history of the development of Ukrainian theater, music and cinema. And some of the museum’s exhibits have become scientific. They are used by specialists to study the history of the theatrical art of Ukraine. As, for example, there is the Sokyryntsi den of Jesus Christ that presents the nativity scene. It is a large puppet box that is called a nativity box or the nativity manger in which Christ was born.

Ukraine turmoil: Ukrainian Soldiers flee to Russia | To UNITE with their Russian Brothers
‘Refusing to kill their own brothers and sisters’: 40+ Ukrainian soldiers flee to Russia
Більше 40 українських солдатів бігти до Росії | Відмовляючись вбити свого власного
July 27, 2014.
More than 40 Ukrainian soldiers have abandoned their military posts and crossed into Russian territory, stating that they refuse to fight against their own people, a Russian Federal Security Service spokesperson said.
At least 41 Ukrainian soldiers have made it to Russian territory after asking self-defense forces for help, the spokesperson from the Federal Security Service’s Rostov region border patrol unit, Vasily Malaev, told Itar-Tass.
At around 20:30 Moscow time, 41 Ukrainian soldiers left their military bases and arrived at the Ukrainian border crossing checkpoint Izvarino. They appealed to the militia there for help to with cross into the Russian territory, in connection with the fact that they do not want to fight against their own people,” Malaev said.
All of the soldiers were able to cross into Russia at the Donetsk checkpoint, the spokesperson added.
A Kiev official confirmed on Sunday that over 40 soldiers abandoned their military posts and crossed into Russian territory, local Ukrainian media reported.
“Indeed, this took place,” Ukrainian minister of defense, Valery Geletey, told Inter TV channel. Earlier on Sunday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko ordered an investigation into the incident.
Two other Ukrainian soldiers – major and senior warrant officers – were also among those who fled to Russia and said they intend to apply for Russian citizenship, according to Malaev.
Ukrainian soldiers claim that high-ranking officers rarely come to the frontline, and when they do they try to leave as soon as possible – preferably before dark – RT’s Roman Kosarev reported from Donetsk.
“Millions of dollars have already been spent by Kiev on its punitive action against those they call terrorists. While the country’s leadership ordered yet another mobilization round of its citizens into active armed forces...morale of the soldiers on the ground and the collapsing parliament could become a barrier for their operation target,” Kosarev added. -RT.

I am happy that more Ukrainian soldiers are refusing to fire on their own countrymen and to disregard the Naziesque orders from Kiev. These men are brave to do this and show their humanity. They also show that they refuse to kill brother Slavs.
No matter how much the US, the fascists, the corporatists, and the EU Nazis want them to murder their brothers they said No!!! Well done you brave 40+!!! You have come over to the light from the din of evil darkness that spreads out from Kiev.
***
The increasing defections of Ukrainian soldiers to Russia is made possible by the friendly attitude of Russia. Russia does not view the Ukrainian people as enemy. Russia's resistance to respond to all the provocations by the junta in Kiev against Russia is producing profound results.
The word will soon spread to the Ukrainian soldiers those who not want to fight his own people, there is an option: crossing the border to Russia. Kiev's junta will collapse the American fascists will go elsewhere to repeat their destabilizing culture. Today, the U.S. has became the plague: every it goes it brings suffering and bloodshed.
***
Well, actually the EU and the USA are behind this mess from the start.
***
Russia must treat well every Ukrainian soldiers who refuse to kill his own people. The word will soon spread and many more will refuse to kill their own people.
Russia is the big strong brother of Ukraine.
***
Very encouraging, I hope the courage these soldiers showed will migrate to the USA,EU,UK/NATO soldiers too. The people can stop EVIL governments LIKE USA if they work together and if they are willing to put their life on the line to do so.
***
Ukrainians and Russians are brothers and sisters thats for sure and no american or Eu puppet whatsoever can change that. So many Ukrainians have russian family, theyre millions, we talked about that just yesterday in a russian-ukrainian round of people. And even if there are hostilitys at the moment it wont be possible to seperate these two people, they even live together or die together.
***
The True Slavic Honest Ukrainians should UNITE with their Russian Brothers. Only this way true peace and prosperity will come.

You tell us that this isn't the right thing to do....
