It was founded in the late 18th century by Khot,a Pathare prabhu, who sold plots of land to local East Indian families. There used to be 65 of these houses, now reduced to 28 as old buildings are being pulled down to make way for new skyscrapers.

The Khotachi Wadi Christmas Fair was an evening of lights, food and heritage with visitors walking into homes of the local East Indian residents and appreciating the heritage village in the middle of the modern city of Mumbai. Located in South Mumbai's Girgaon area, the heritage village has some really old houses that structurally stand out because of their beautiful balconies, colourful facades and pretty porches. Khotachiwadi is a heritage village in Girgaon, Mumbai, India. Houses generally conform to the old-Portuguese style architecture.
It was founded in the late 18th century by Khot, a Pathare prabhu, who sold plots of land to local East Indian families. There used to be 65 of these houses, now reduced to 28 as old buildings are being pulled down to make way for new skyscrapers.
Houses are made of wood, with a large open front verandah, a back courtyard and an external staircase to access the top bedroom.
Most of the residents now descend from the original inhabitants of Bombay. Recently Gujarathis, Marwaris have moved into the area. Majority are Christians and Maharashtrians. #Mumbai

Today's video is a very special video and place too, the name of the place is Khotachiwadi. This place is located in one of the prime areas in Mumbai called GIRGAUM but still untouched from the lifestyle of Mumbai.
The home is more than 175 yrs+ old and its a portuguese home.
There were total of 65 bunglows earlier but now reduced to 28 because of urbanisation.
This was also my first time at this place. Watch the video to know more about this place.

Banganga :- As the legend goes, overcome with fatigue and thirst, Rama asked his brother Lakshmana to bring him some water. Laxman instantly shot an arrow into the ground, and water gushed forth from the ground, creating a tributary of the Ganges, which flows over a thousand miles away, hence its name, Banganga, the Ganga created by a baan (arrow)

These muzzle loading cannons went obsolete due to advancement in British artillery technology. These cast-iron cannons were so heavy and the cost of moving them was so high , that they were left rotting out in the streets of Bombay Fort .Some of them later found use as Street Markers or as mooring poles to dock ships.
In this episode , he goes hunting for some of these cannons , hidden in plain-sight on present day streets of #Mumbai , their glory and use , now all but lost.
