Kings Domain is an area of parklands in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It surrounds Government House Reserve, the home of the Governors of Victoria, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and the Shrine Reserve incorporating the Shrine of Remembrance.
Kings Domain is part of a larger group of parklands directly south-east of the city, between St. Kilda Road and the Yarra River known as the Domain Parklands, which includes;

Kings Domain, or 'The Domain' is an area of parkland just south of the Yarra River, that has been enjoyed by generations of Melburnians. Whether simply enjoying the lawns, gardens, watching a concert at the Sidney Myer Music bowl, or whatever else, it's a great place to unwind.

Les Royal Botanic Gardens sont situés à environ 2 km du centre de Melbourne, sur la rive sud de la Yarra River. Ses 38 hectares d'espaces paysagers figurent parmi les plus beaux jardins botaniques d'Australie avec plus de 10 000 espèces de végétation différentes.
Cet immense parc invite à la détente et à la relaxation.
Pour faire le tour du parc, entre 2 et 3 heures de marche :
Différents écosystèmes recréés pour y faire pousser des plantes venues des quatre coins du monde, avec notamment une forêt humide et tropicale (The Australian Rainforest Walk)....
Sur la partie haute du parc, le long d'Alexandra Avenue : des bordures du lac (Ornamental Lake) pour observer une faune diversifiée...perroquets, cygnes, canards, opossums, kookaburras ...
Les jardins de South Yarra ne sont qu'une petite partie des Royal Botanic Gardens qui englobent également le vaste parc (360 ha) de Cranbourne à 55 km au sud-est de Melbourne.
Juxtaposés aux Royal Botanic Gardens en se rapprochant de la city (CBD) se trouvent les Kings Domain, les Queen Victoria Gardens et Alexandra Gardens....

Australia Day 2015 - Kings Domain
Some highlights from the popular 2015 RACV Australia Day Picnic and Federation Vehicle Display held in Kings Domain Gardens, Melbourne. It was a fun filled, family friendly day with live performances, lots of activities for the kids and kids at heart and of course, hundreds of historical vehicles.
New Years Eve Melbourne - Kings Domain
This year we celebrated New Years Eve in Melbourne at Kings Domain! Kings Domain is one of 4 Live Locations for NYE Melbourne - but which one is best? We picked Kings Domain which gave us an incredible view over the city of Melbourne, and had us sitting directly beneath our own private fireworks display!
I've always wanted to celebrate New Years in Melbourne - I absolutely love fireworks and with over $2.8 Million and 14 tonnes of fireworks, it certainly didn't disappoint!
What about the crowds? I am not great in big crowds but I was pleasantly surprised. We arrived at about 10pm and there was plenty of space on the grassed area! We pulled out a blanket and set up our little picnic and enjoyed the music and the incredible ambiance of New Years Eve Melbourne!
At around 11.30pm the park filled up quickly, but there was still plenty of space and a perfect view for everyone! So if you don't head in until late, don't be concerned - you'll still have an incredible time! BUT - get in early, enjoy the excitement and share an amazing evening with friends and family!
Don't forget glow sticks, some NYE paraphernalia and HAVE FUN!
Melbourne NYE Live Locations - Be aware these are ALCOHOL FREE LOCATIONS! Live entertainment, food trucks and first-aid can all be found on site!

Family friendly fireworks at 9.30pm can be found at Footscray Park and Yarra Park, but don't hesitate to take your kids to the midnight fireworks! Our kids had a ball and there were lots of kids!
