The World’s Most Beautiful Library - The Klementinum library
The World’s Most Beautiful Library Is In Prague, Czech Republic
Prague's Klementinum library was opened in 1722 and has easily become one of the most beautiful libraries in the world. Aside from housing over 20,000 novels for your reading pleasure, this location showcases absolutely stunning Baroque architecture.
The ceiling frescoes were painted by Jan Hiebl. In 1781, director Karel Rafael Ungar established Biblioteca Nationalis, a collection of Czech language literature. Some of the rare historical books from this collection have been sent to Google for scanning and will eventually be available on Google Books.
Just as the library is a rare and little-known treasure, so is it associated with several little-known facts: the Klementinum used to be the third largest Jesuit college in the world; recording of local weather began there in 1775 and has continued ever since; it is featured in a novel by famous Spanish-language writer Jorge Luis Borges.
In 1777, Maria Theresa declared Klementinum to be a public and university library. This allowed the Prague community to witness this local treasure in person, to marvel at the globes that line the center of the library, and to study Jan Klein's intricate astronomical clocks.

There are amazing works of art that can be seen all over the world. You can visit the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, in France. Or you can head to Italy to check out the breathtaking works of Michelangelo. The wonderful thing about art is that, if taken care of, it can last the test of time. The immortality of art can continuously inspire people. Just like Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel, entire structures can become a masterpiece. Located in Prague, is one of these amazing works of art. The Klementinum Library is an extraordinary work of perfection that can be considered the most beautiful library in existence.

Klementinum CZ
ENGLISH
Clementine, today mainly used as a national library, was built in the 17th century as a college for Jesuits who were invited to Prague by Ferdinand I. of Habsburg. This early Baroque building was later modified through the high Baroque and Classicism. On the construction of the building took part a lot of well known architects such as Francesco Carrati, František Kaňka or Killian Dientzenhofer. The decoration was made by artists and sculptors such as Peter Brandl, Matyas Brown, Josef Kramolín or Iganz Raab.
Jesuit school was promoted and became counterweight to the protestant Charles University. During the recatholicization in the second half of the 17th century were both universities merged and renamed to Charles-Ferdinand University. Then also the Charles library was moved to Clementine.
In the 20s of 18th century was built the astronomical tower which primarily served as an observation. Astronomical observation in Clementine was developed 30 years later when the astronomical observatory was established by mathematician and physicist Joseph Stepling. Since then we can find there the longest ongoing meteorologist measuring in the world.
The university kept using the building until 1930 even after the abolition of Jesuits order and the division of the university into the German a Czech part.
Since the era of Maria Theresa in 18th century was Clementine regarded as a public library and it was established by Karl Rafael Ungar, who later became a rector of Charles University. Until 2009 there was located also National Technical Library which was then removed to Prague´s district Dejvice.
Apart from the library we can find here modern study rooms, lecture hall, gallery, bookstore and a café. Since 2010 there is going on extensive reconstruction of buildings which should be completed in 2016.

Klementinum in Praha

There are astonishing gems that can be seen everywhere throughout the world. You can visit the Mona Lisa at the Louver, in France. Or, then again you can go to Italy to look at the amazing works of Michelangelo. The great thing about craftsmanship is that, if dealt with, it can last the trial of time. The interminability of workmanship can persistently motivate individuals. Much the same as Michelangelo's work in the Sistine Chapel, whole structures can turn into a magnum opus. Situated in Prague, is one of these astounding show-stoppers. The Klementinum Library is an exceptional work of flawlessness that can be viewed as the most lovely library in presence.
