JAPAN: KOBE: ASIAN DISASTER PREVENTION CONFERENCE
Natural Sound
Environment ministers from more than twenty countries are attending an Asian disaster prevention conference in the earthquake-devastated Japanese city of Kobe.
The choice of Kobe as the location for the two day conference - is appropriate as the city was the scene of a violent earthquake one year ago which killed more than three thousand people.
China, Russia and Vietnam are just some of the countries that are represented at the conference, which is being observed by delegations from Britain, the United States and France.
The conference concludes Monday with a declaration from the delegations attending to work together to stave off the after-effects of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
The Japanese Prime Minister, Tomiichi Murayama, addressed the conference on Sunday.
At the time of the Kobe disaster, he was accused of presiding over a relief operation that was too slow.
Last January, the emergency services in Kobe were stretched to the limit after the city was torn apart by the earthquake.
The disaster left bewildered relatives searching through the rubble to look for their missing relatives.
As fire and search crews grew more and more exhausted, queues gathered for food and water.
The people of the city became cold, hungry and thirsty, as supplies of water, gas and electricity were cut off.
The citizens of the city criticised the Japanese government for its handling of the crisis, claiming the government was unprepared for an earthquake of such a magnitude.

Philippine - Japan Medical Seminar - Bizwatch
There was an important medical seminar held in the country very recently at the Philippine International Convention Center which was attended by no less than 143 attendees. In the said seminar, trade and industry institutions from Japan and the Philippines agreed to cooperate in addressing concerns in both countries.
The recent Philippine-Japan Medical Seminar was titled Diagnosis and Treatment of Hypertension and Heart Diseases. It was hosted by Medical Excellence Japan, a Japan-backed foundation. The foundation noted that in recent years, diseases like cancer, hypertension and cerebrovascular diseases have been increasing in the Philippines. It is calling for an efficient and effective detection and treatment for these which are regarded as lifestyle-related diseases.
Medical Excellence Japan was joined by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan External Trade Organization and the Japan international Cooperation Agency or JICA. Its Philippine partners are the Dept. of Trade & Industry, the Dept. of Health, Philippine General Hospital, and the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines. Here’s more with our correspondent (LOOK RIGHT)
Japanese doctor Seigo Kitano, president of Oita University, presented the historical and current state preventive measures and cure for cancer while PGH Director Gerardo Legaspi discussed the Philippine medical situation. Dr. Tsukasa Ishida of Kobe University Hospital who is currently based in St. Luke’s Medical Center also discussed his observations in the Philippines. A Director of the Dept. of Clinical Medicine and Development and the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center in Japan also shared the present trends and practices in the prevention and treatment of hypertension and heart diseases.
This healthcare seminar was the result of a memorandum of agreement between the health authorities of Japan and the Philippines during the 2015 Japan-Philippines Seminar Meeting to provide an exchange of knowledge on effective policy creation and personnel training in the medical sectors of Japan and the Philippines.
Cities: Skylines - PROJECT JAPAN #13 - Suspended monorail, Convention center, Mixed residential
In episode #13, we build a big convention center situated near a modern office cluster which houses the tallest skyscraper in Amatsukaido, which at 249 meters is the 6th tallest in Japan. Near the convention center is also a large planned residential high-density district which is mixed-income, housing low, middle and high-income inhabitants in anything from bland looking mid-rises to a luxury skyscraper. Last but not least, we create a whole new line of the suspended monorail network, connecting the convention district with the center of the city in Hayachiru, the first area we built back in episode 1.

Aurora B.Polaris - The Vision of Light
Project Japan is a humble attempt to build a somewhat realistic looking Japanese city situated somewhere between Okayama and Kobe on the northern shore of the Harima-nada sea.
Focusing on developments along train stations, large intersections and public transportation hubs, many of the more generic areas will be built off camera, to quickly expand the city and capture the metropolitan vibe.
Japanese city series are almost non-existent, perhaps because of the serious lack of Japanese themed assets on the workshop. Therefore, revamps are to be expected throughout the series, as i get better at building Japanese cityscapes and/or new assets become available.
