The Mangrove forests of Ao Phang nga, National Park, Thailand
Beautiful Mangrove forests around the Ao Phang nga National Park just east of Phuket. Could spend the whole day cruising around the small little creeks and just wait for what to come after the next bend. Very relaxing. 5 minutes alone and I would have become lost.

We were staying in Phuket recently and looking for some adventure when we stumbled on this amazing place. We had heard of the James Bond Island — it's hard not to, they advertise it all over Phuket — but we didn't want to go with a big tour group. So, we rented a car, quickly learned how to drive on the left side of the road, and set off at six o'clock in the morning to the amazing Ao Phang Nga National Park, home to the archipelago that hosts the James Bond island and hundreds of others.
We didn't know what to expect after the hour long drive, but we brought along our cameras, a mavic pro and good attitudes and we hoped to make the most of it. We went straight for the national park visitor center after a quick shoot by a beautiful inland rock formation. Across the way there was a line of longtail boats waiting to be hired. We booked out one of the boats and a driver for an entire day — which cost only about $60.00, U.S. — and grabbed some local beers for the ride.
We never actually made it to the big tourist sites, because they were overcrowded and, honestly, we didn't have much interest. The entire area is scattered with similar rock formations, so, we anchored up to one without any other boats nearby and cut off our own little slice of paradise for a few hours.
One of the major highlights while cruising back to the Ao Phang Nga National Park visitor center was stopping by Koh Panyi, a small, stilted muslim community residing in the middle of the bay on a secluded island. Most tour boats stop here early in the day, so we really had the place to ourselves — among the 1,685 friendly residents that live there full-time. It was the perfect end to a day that had little expectations. When we go back, we won't be doing it any differently.
If you want to discuss our experience at this beautiful destination in more detail, feel free to reach out! We're happy to chat.

Phuket Christmas Cruise, Koh Yao, Koh Hong and Phang Nga Bay Islands, December 2018
What better way to celebrate the end of a wonderful year than spending time with family and friends on the opulent comfort of your yacht and exploring the vast cruising grounds of Phuket! Last weekend (15th – 16th December), Boat Lagoon Yachting had a great Christmas gathering with our owners. We spent both days cruising, exploring different islands and rafting up at Koyao Island Resort where we relax, get pampered by masseuses and played water sport activities. The beauty of this exclusive lifestyle is that there is always something for everyone; Float around the boat with paddleboard and inflatables, throw on a snorkel to peek at the beautiful coral beneath you, or go for a spin on the jet-skis. Another highlight of the event was the intimate BBQ dinner. Apart from indulging in the specially prepared sumptuous meal, kids and adults alike had a whale of a time doing the limbo dance.

Phang Nga Bay is a 400 km² bay in the Andaman Sea between the island of Phuket and the mainland of the Malay peninsula of southern Thailand. Since 1981 a big part of the bay is protected as the Ao Phang Nga National Park. It is situated in Phang Nga Province, at 08°17'N 098°36'E.
Limestone cliffs with caves, collapsed cave systems and archaeological sites are found about Phang Nga Bay. Some 10,000 years ago, when sea levels were lower, one could walk from Phuket and Krabi.
Phang Nga Bay Marine National Park was declared a protected Ramsar Site (no. 1185) of international ecological significance on 14 August, 2002. Phang Nga is a shallow bay with 42 islands, comprising shallow marine waters and intertidal forested wetlands, with at least 28 species of mangrove; seagrass beds and coral reefs are also present.
At least 88 bird species, including the globally threatened Malaysian Plover (Charadrius peronii) and Asian Dowitcher (Limnodromus semipalmatus), can be found within the site, as well as 82 fish species, 18 reptiles, three amphibians, and 17 mammal species. These include the Dugong (a vulnerable species), White-hand Gibbon (Hylobates lar), the endangered Serow (Capricornis sumatraensis), shown here, and the Black Finless Porpoise (Neophocaena phocaenoides).
A number of diverse cultures co-exist in local communities, which practice fishing, harvesting Nypa palm fronds for thatch, and catering to an international tourist presence drawn both by the natural beauties and by the archaeological sites, which have paintings more than a thousand years old.[1]

I recently went to THAILAND, a splendid, vibrant and fascinating country.
In this video, I take you to Koh Yao Yai, a breath-taking island near Phuket.
We stayed at the stunning 5* Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa, where traditional Thai rustic décor meets ABSOLUTE LUXURY ( I booked our hotel through Trailfinders who were great (note: this is NOT an ad!).
We spent our time swimming in crystal clear waters, sipping delicious cocktails on the beach (including my new favourite, the Blue Hawaii), eating mouth-watering Thai cuisine, kayaking, snorkelling, paddle-boarding, getting treatments at the spa, relaxing in our hot tub.
Most unforgettable of all, however, was our snorkelling adventure around the Hong Islands, which are part of the protected National Marine Park. There we found PARADISE ON EARTH! We finally got a chance to cruise around the iconic limestone formations, explore the crystal clear waters, swim with the colourful sea life (including multi-coloured jellyfish!), and wander around white sand beaches, that were out of this world.

Sailing Thailand - Koh Phi Phi and Maya Bay, Windlass Problems, Ao Phang Nga National Park, Ep. 10
We woke up at the anchorage in Racha Yai, just south of Phuket, and sailed to the Phi Phi Islands and past the famous and crowded Maya Bay. The winds picked up and we sailed north to Chicken Island off the coast of Krabi and had our first real problem with a broken windlass.
Upon fixing the anchor windlass we studied the tide tables and motored through Ao Nang National Park looking out for jellyfish and kayaking in a serene lagoon. Our last night we had a fantastic sunset and reflected on the experience sailing through Thailand and all the things we got a chance to see on our own that the freedom of sailing has brought us.
Next, our Thai visa runs out and we fly to Siem Reap to explore Cambodia.

[Doku] Thailands schönste Inseln - Ao Phang Nga (HD)

Ko Yao Noi Island in Phang Nga Bay
Ko Yao Noi Island in Phang Nga Bay
History
The minor district (king amphoe) Ko Yao was established in 1903 as a subordinate of Mueang Phang Nga District. On 1 January 1988 it was upgraded to a full district.
Geography
The district covers several islands of the Ko Yao archipelago in Phang Nga Bay, near the island of Phuket. The two main islands are named Ko Yao Yai and Ko Yao Noi ('big long island' and 'small long island'). The northern tips of the islands are part of Ao Phang Nga National Park.
Religion
Ninety percent of the district's population (2018) of 18,000 are Muslims. The Muslim religion was introduced in the 13th century by Arab traders.
Administration
The district is divided into three sub-districts (tambons), which are further subdivided into 18 villages (mubans). Ko Yao itself has sub-district municipality (thesaban tambon) status, which covers parts of tambon Ko Yao Noi. There are a further three tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
Ko Yao Noi covers about 50 km². Upon arrival at Manok Pier there is no accommodation available within walking distance. There will generally be between ten and twenty ute-style tuk-tuk's waiting to take you to accommodation. The going rate on the island is 100 baht if sharing the ride or 150 baht if travelling solo.
Ko Yao Noi has approximately 18 km of concrete and dirt road around it. The main road is a two-lane concrete road that performs a ring around the entire perimeter of the island (excluding the most Northern parts - there are only dirt roads in this area of the island). There are several interior roads that are a combination of either sand/dirt or concrete.
The most efficient way to get around the island is to hire a scooter. The island offer scooters for rent for 200/300 baht per day, and most resorts offer bikes or scooters. No licence is generally required and helmets are provided. Just walk into the restaurant/reception. You will see the various scooters lined up out the front of the hotel.
Otherwise, tuk-tuk's are available to give you lifts across the island. Simply flag one of these vehicles down as they drive past. Failing that, if you simply wait most locals will be happy to give you a lift - however, it may mean squishing onto a scooter that already has three Thai adults and a baby on it!
Bicycles are also an excellent mode of transport and the main circle road around the island only has one large hill that must be navigated. The relevant flat terrain makes it perfect for leisurely rides. Bicycles can be hired from Sabai Corner Bungalows or any accommodation you may choose to stay at.
Please be aware that driving on the island might be dangerous : most people driving here have little or no clue about the rules, but at least most drive slow, except a few people driving crazy, on motorbike or pickups... as well, many tourist ride bikes with very little experience of it. So, watch out...
